CEO's Dilemma

CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

ACE'S POV

"No she didn't!" Alaric laments and I exhale heavily. I just told him about the conversation I had with Luna earlier today.

"Yes she did and I understand where she is coming from bro. She doesn't want to get hurt"

"So what are you going to do?"

"The wedding is in five months, that's enough time for me to figure out what to do"

"Why do I feel like you have plans of calling off that wedding" He asks looking at me queerly.

I smile.

"The universe has its way of making things fall in place. Let's just wait and see"

"This is not going to end well"

"Oh, it will and you will be impressed" I say with a naughty smirk.

The saying "uneasy is the head that carries the crown" is indeed the truth. My head is spinning like a roller coaster, this dilemma I currently find myself sandwiched in is driving me crazy and my father's recent phone call has done nothing but aggravate the whole issue. I thought he called regarding business issues but I froze when he asked me to meet him at the golf course so we could talk about this women issue. He hasn't spoken a word since all this charade began and now that he wants to say something, I have to brace myself because it's going to be intense.

Nevertheless, my father is a man who speaks wisdom. One thing for sure is that he is not going to judge me or scold me but he is going to advice me on what to do. I walk into the golf course already dressed in a white track suit and a pair of snickers and a white face cap on my head. I spot him seated on a chair in the field and I slowly walk over to him.

I don't like having this kind of heart to heart discussions with my father, they always leave me emotional for the rest of the day.

The guy knows how to strike my nerves.

"Dad" I call as I approach him and he gets up to hug me and I blush when he kisses my hair and hugs me again.

Just so you know, I am the carbon copy of my father and as his only child, he loves me more than anything else in the world.

"Dad you are breaking my bones" I complain and he lets go of me and does the one thing that I hate the most.

He ruffles my hair as I take the seat next to his.

"You have grown so fast Ace, you are now a full grown man and you have so many issues at hand that you can't even make out time for your father"

There, there, there he goes. Emotional blackmail.

"Dad I..."

"It's fine son, I understand. I called you here so we could talk about what's going on"

"Dad it's complicated" I say rubbing my forehead with my left palm.

"I know that's why we are meeting out here, far from your mother. I understand that she's not making matters any better"

"I'm glad you know that"

"We had a big fight last night when I tried telling her to stop meddling in your affairs. She threw a tantrum"

"That is very typical of mum. Dad I appreciate you trying to talk some sense into her but you don't have to worry, I can handle mum"

"This is deeper than you think son"

"How do you mean father?" I ask confused.

"Relax I will tell you everything, that's why I called you over. For now, tell me how Luna and my unborn grandchild are doing" he demands with a gentle smile and I feel my heart flutter.

Did he just say his unborn grandchild?

This is the first time I'm actually hearing someone address my child. I love the way it makes me feel.

Blissful.

"They are doing just fine dad, I am really overwhelmed by you addressing the child as your grandchild. Mum has done nothing but curse that pregnancy ever since she heard about it"

"Your mother can be very irrational at times. She always wants things to go her way but she fails to understand that this is your life"

"Dad you said this is deeper than I think, why is that?" I ask and he heaves out a heavy sigh of frustration.

"Your mother doesn't just hate Luna for nothing, all this repulsive attitude is as a result of some high school rivalry between her and Luna's mother."

Dad explains and I look at him in awe. This is indeed deeper than I thought.

"Why didn't they see eye-to-eye?" I ask curiously.

"They had this issue over a man, Luna's father actually" He explains and I am tempted to laugh. "Your mother and Luna's father were lovers in high school until Luna's mother showed up and things changed. I'm not going to go into the details but you just need to know that it wasn't an easy fight but Luna's mother won, that made your mother hate her very much"

"Wow!, that is indeed intense"

"So you see, that is why your mother is so pissed off about this whole issue. Luna is the daughter of the woman who snatched her high school sweetheart, so you can relate"

"I can relate, but I still think mum needs to calm down, that is her grandchild we are talking about here. Besides, I am still going to fulfill her wish of marrying Sophia. What exactly is her problem?"

"About that, are you sure that is what you want?" He asks and I give him a confused look.

"How do you mean?"

"This relationship you have with Sophia was orchestrated by both your mother's. Are you sure you love Sophia enough to want to marry her?"

"I think I do"

"You think?" He asks with creased brows.

"Dad right now I'm in one heck of a dilemma, I like Sophia, I really do like her. I mean we have been friends all our lives and we have been dating for quite some time now. I have always wanted to marry Sophia but everything suddenly changed when Luna showed up. All I think about right now is Luna and my unborn child. I'm falling so hard for her that it freaks me out. I'm scared!" I explain and he just keeps nodding his head.

Words, I need words!

"Go on son, I'm listening"

"I want Luna, I want to make her mine but I feel like that is the wrong thing to do. I can't just ditch Sophia because I found Luna. I am trying to consider both situations"

"You do understand that you will eventually have to let one go right?"

"Dad I know and that is what freaks me out the most. What if I keep the wrong one and let go of the right one. I just can't close my eyes and choose!"

"Of course you can't"

"So what do I do?" I ask worried with tears forming up in my eyes. My father engulfs me in a warm hug and I just let the tears flow.

No matter how much I try to act like I have got this under control, no matter how much I try to be strong, the fact that I am in a crazy dilemma still stands.

"This might seem very inconsiderate, but personally, I think I would prefer to have Luna as my daughter-in-law"

"You don't even know her dad"

"I don't need to know her. My senses just have to give me the signal for my heart to confirm. I don't care if I am being inconsiderate or bias right now. If you have to fight for any of those girls, fight for Luna, she will make a better companion"

"Dad.."

"Like I said, I don't care if I am being bias"

"There must be a reason why you want me to choose Luna. Please enlighten me"

"First, her mother is a woman of valor, she is a powerful woman in this nation and I know she must have done a great job raising Luna. Second, Luna's career is outstanding, a certified accountant at such a tender age, that proves she is extremely smart and you know how obsessed I am about smart humans. Lastly, I know she is the one you want to be with, she is the one you love, she makes you happy. That is why I want you to choose her, but be very strategic about it"

He carefully explains and I just stare at him in awe, wondering how he could be so accurate. Everything he just said is nothing but the truth and I am going to do exactly as he says. I am going to strategize!

"Thank you very much dad"

"Any time son and please take very good care of Luna, remember she is carrying the future of Heritage Empire. I already have a name for my grandson"

"How are you even sure it's a boy?"

"Because it runs in the family, we rarely have daughters in my family, check the family tree. So brace yourself, because a mini you is on the way" He says and I can't help but smile.

Luna hasn't only made me proud, she has made my father proud. She is indeed a blessing to us.

"I promise to take good care of her"

"That's my boy. Once more, congratulations son, you are soon going to join the father hood. I am so proud of you"

"Thanks dad"

"Come on, let's go for a few rounds" He says enthusiastically as we prepare ourselves to play. He is going to beat me hands down in this game.

I hate golf and I have never ever tried to improve my skills. I always just come here to please my father.
