CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

"Stay where you are!" Ace warns.

"I can't, I just can't okay. I want to rip this bitch apart. She is ruining everything for us. This whole issue is now on social media, do you know how messed up this?. This is a scandal!" She screams in frustration and to be frank, I feel her pain. I would react the same way if I were in her shoes.

"Sophia you need to calm down, no one meant for this to happen okay. This is not Luna's fault" Ace defends.

"Yes, it is. One night stands do happen but she just had to get pregnant and now look at where it has gotten us" She scolds yet again and I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my head and my legs grow weak, before I know it, I'm falling but before I can reach the grown I am supported by Ace's strong arms.

"Are you alright?" He asks concerned.

"I think I have a headache"

"Should we go see a doctor?"

"No, please I'll just head home"

"Let me take you home then" He says as he wraps a protective arm around my waist and holds me close to him.

Very close.

Dangerously close.

I look at Sophia and if looks could kill, I would be dead and forgotten by now. She hates me and I don't blame her. I'd feel the same way if I were in her shoes.

"Sophia let's talk at my place tonight. For now, I have to take Luna home"

"It might interest you to know that there's a flock of journalists out there with a myriad of cameras waiting for you two to step outside so they could pose their questions"

"Thanks for the alert, I will handle them"

He leads me out of the lounge and when we step into the elevator, I cling to him tightly. My head really hurts and when I think of the journalists I have to face down there, I feel like passing out.

"I am scared" I mange to say and he takes me into his arms and kisses my forehead

"Don't be, I am here for you" He says soothingly and I shiver when he gently places his palm on my tummy and caresses it "Both of you" He whispers with a husky voice and I feel tears well up in my eyes. My heart is about to burst with emotions.

He is always striking that nerve!

"Thank you" I whisper back and he kisses my hair.

The elevator opens up and we both get out of it and walk out of the lobby with Ace not letting go of my waist for a single second. The moment we step out of the lobby, there's indeed a myriad of cameras flashing lights at us and there's a lot of people, probably journalists, holding mics and asking questions.

"Mr. Ace Damon, for how long have you having an affair with Miss Angelis?"

"Is it true that the two of you are expecting a child?"

"Does your fiancé agree to this?" And they keep ranting on but Ace doesn't say a word. He holds me very still and makes way through the crowd and when we finally get to his car, he opens the passenger seat door for me and I get in. He walks to the other side of the car and hops in before the journalists can approach the car again. He quickly ignites the engine and drives out of the parking lot.

"These people have absolutely nothing to do with their lives!"

"This is so messed up, social media! Just great" I say throwing my hands in the air in defeat.

"Don't let it bother you, it's not important. How is your head?"

"It still hurts"

"Are you sure you don't want us to go see a doctor?"

"Yes, I am. I swear I'm fine, I'm just a bit stressed up"

"I'm sorry about earlier"

"It's fine Ace, we can't really blame Sophia, she is going through a rough time. She has every right to be ballistic right now."

"Just promise me one thing"

"What's that?"

"That you will never go anywhere near Sophia and if she ever gets to you, run away or call help. I know Sophia all too well, she can get physical with you and that is the last I want to happen right now."

"I will do just that"

"You didn't even touch your lunch, I will make you something to eat at your place since you have sworn never to come to mine"

"That won't be necessary"

"I'm not taking no for an answer" he insists .

"About living alone, I'm not very comfortable with that Luna. You said you were going to move in with your brother, Kyle but that hasn't happened. Why is that?"

"I really do like my space Ace"

"I understand Luna, but as it is now you are pregnant and anything could happen to you at anytime, what if there's no one to help you or at least get help?. I don't want anything happening to any of you" He explains as gently placed his right hand on my left hand and caresses it.

The sparks...

"There's this girl Kyle likes, she's a nurse. He has hired her to be my private nurse. I will be moving over to his house this week and we will all live there" I say as I let out a gentle laugh.

"What is funny?" Ace asks confused.

"Kyle is trying to shoot two birds with a single stone. He likes the girl so he is trying to woe her and at the same time have someone to look after me"

"That is a very smart move"

"Yes, it is"

"I and happy that you're going to move him with him and if you don't, I will personally carry you to my place. I mean it Luna"

"I will, I promise" I say with a light chuckle "You know if things weren't so messed up I'd say I am the luckiest girl in the world. I have almost everyone I know looking after me. My parents, Kyle, you and even Asher. It's overwhelming."

"You are carrying the heir Heritage Empire, you shouldn't expect any less."

"Is that supposed to make me feel special?" I ask as I scoff.

"You being special to me is an already established fact, so deal with it"

"You are a naughty fellow"

"Oh, I am sweetheart and you be ready because that little angel we are expecting will exactly like me" He says smiling and I absentmindedly touch my stomach.

"I wish I could touch that tummy every second, I wish I could hold you in my arms and keep you both warm and secure, everyday. I wish I could do more" He says as he places his hand on my hand that's touching my tummy. "I sincerely wish I could do more"
