CHAPTER FOURTEEN

"Ace, what is this I'm hearing?" My mother asks furiously the moment I walk into the living room. I was awoken this morning by her phone call ordering me to come home immediately. Sophia must have exaggerated when telling her about Luna and the pregnancy. She is seated right between our mothers putting on the most pathetic expression and I find it extremely annoying.

She is such a drama queen.

"Mum let me explain"

"Sophia already told us everything" Sophia's mother spits out angrily.

"That's her own side of the story, I've got mine."

"What cock and bull story do you want to feed us with? How could you get some random girl pregnant? Do you have any idea how scandalous that is? What if it reaches the press, the entire city and why not the country? It will be the talk of the town!" She laments furiously and I gently rub my forehead with my palm.

Mum is always blowing things out of proportion.

"Mum, I honestly do not care what the press or the public has to say about this issue. All I want is for you to understand me, it wasn't intentional"

"You know what? there's only one remedy for this whole mess"

" Mum this isn't a mess, Luna getting pregnant for me isn't a mess. Yes, it was unplanned, but it's certainly not a mess. Do not refer to my unborn child as a mess!" I warn and she goes mute. They all are stepping on my very last nerves.

Mum quietly gets up from the sofa and walks closer to me. Very close!

The last time she walked this close to me I got hit very hard in the face, all because Sophia and I had a misunderstanding and I made her cry.

"It has always been about Sophia, She is the only woman who is fit to carry your child and she is the only woman who is going to bear you children, so you better take that Luna girl to a hospital and have that pregnancy terminated, pay her any amount to keep her mouth shut and live a clean life with Sophia" Mum orders bluntly and I look at her in total disbelieve.

Like ... my mother just asked me to terminate my pregnancy all because she wants me to live a clean life with Sophia.

What sort of clean life will I live with Sophia after killing my unborn child?

Is mum really serious?

"Mum are you for real?" I ask in bewilderment.

"That child is nothing but a symbol of separation, you need to get rid..." She rants on, but I cut her off.

"Cut it mum, just stop already. Don't you ever talk about my offspring in such an offensive manner. Sophia i can't believe you are part of all this charade"

"What do you expect me to do Ace?, I feel threatened. I'm scared of losing you to Luna. She's carrying your child , that's such a big deal. Soon you'll get attached to her and the unborn child and totally forget about me. I love you Ace, I love you so much that only the thought of losing you sends me six feet down and with Luna in the picture, that might just happen very soon" She says bitterly in tears and I feel my heart flop. I quietly walk towards her and stoop by her side.

"Sophia" I say , holding her drenched face in my hands. Her makeup is totally ruined and her eyes are bloody red. She sure has been crying for quite a while. "Sophia, do you trust me?"

"I trust you Ace, it's just Luna that I don't"

"Forget about Luna and answer me, do you trust me?"

"Yes I do trust you" She says nodding her head.

"Then I need you to trust me when I tell you that this will change nothing between us. You are still the girl I love, the girl I am engaged to and the girl I will marry. I just want to be there for my unborn child, nothing else, I promise" I say from the depth of my heart in a soft but firm tone and she looks at me intensely.

"Ace I'm scared" She whispers with a croaky voice.

"You don't have to be, baby, I'm yours alone" I say as I take her into my arms and she sobs harder.

I'm mad at her for blowing things out of proportion but on a second thought she has every right to do so. She has every right to feel threatened. Having a child with another lady is such a big deal and I don't blame her for feeling insecure. But I love Sophia and I am going to marry her, all I need is her trust. This pregnancy will honestly change nothing between us.

"I still think you should terminate that pregnancy"

" You do know that's your grandchild you're referring to right?" I ask, nerved.

"Oh please, I hate that Luna of a girl. She's nothing but an opportunistic gold digger".

"Mum please, just stop already" I say looking at my watch and the time reads eight-thirty am. I stand up and straighten up my tuxedo.

"I have to get going now, my meeting starts in an hour's time"

"I still need you to think this through, you really don't need to keep that baby"

"Mum there's going to be no such thing as an abortion, Luna is going to give birth to my child strong and healthy, so you deal with that reality"

I say as I majestically walk out of the living room with my right hand shoved into my right trouser pocket. I walk out of the mansion to the driveway where I get into my Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf and drive to my Empire

If my father finds out I'm driving to work by myself, I'm going to get some serious scolding. He's always about me taking my security very seriously. As a successful business man and the most eligible bachelor in my country, I have made quite a lot of foes and I need to be very careful when driving around but this is what I like and until a murder attempt is made, I'll keep driving myself to work.

After the board meeting, I retire to my office to study the files for a business proposal I got from Starlight Enterprise. Their CEO has been bugging me about investing in their Enterprise. If I find their offers appealing, I might just consider their proposal.

This is the best part of my career. The fame and the power. I literally have people crawling on their knees just for me to consider signing business deals with them. I rule the world of business in my country and I only have my father to thank for that. He started this Empire from scratch and now that he has handed it over to me, I will do my best to make him proud by expanding it.

My P.A walks in looking all confused and frustrated and I wonder what's going on.

"Why the long face Josh?"

"Sir, Seven Tyler Zane is here to see you" He announces with his head slightly bowed down.

"I don't remember having an appointment with him"

"Exactly Sir, but he is adamant to leave."

"Alright then, send him in"

"I'll do just that, excuse me Sir" He exits my office.

Normally, I would've asked security to throw him out but I don't want to do that. I think I might just know why seven is here. Luna is his Ex-girlfriend and I have impregnated her. He is obviously here to confront me.

Ugh!

Time really does fly but some things never change. Ever since high school, Seven and I have never been on good terms because of women issues. We had this habit of always liking the same girls but unfortunately for him, those girls always chose me over him. Most at times even the ones who chose him later on dumped him for me. I was nothing but a nightmare to Seven and even now I am at it again, only that this time it's his Ex-girlfriend.

Poor Seven.

My office door creaks open revealing my secretary and Seven following closely behind. The look on his face says it all, this is not going to be a friendly conversation.

I just hope it doesn't get to the point where we get to exchange punches.
