Chapter 242 - 186: Julian Donovan, I Love You

"Then wear them for me at home!"

He answered domineeringly, completely ignoring her protests as he pulled her into the car. His handsome face was clearly happy, but since he wasn’t one to wear his emotions on his sleeve, an outsider might not have noticed his mood. But she was so close to him, and the joy in his eyes was unmistakable.

She, too, curled her lips into a gentle smile.

Now that they had their marriage certificate, he was in a good mood, and so was she. She just never expected his way of expressing joy would be so childish—a celebratory shopping spree.

She was the one driving. On the way to the mall, while waiting at a red light, she suddenly turned and whispered softly in his ear, "Julian Donovan, I love you!"

He clearly hadn’t expected such a sudden, tender confession. He froze for a moment, then glared at her with mock seriousness. "Eyes on the road!"

Her eyes crinkled as she laughed happily. She loved him like this—loved how she could fluster him, loved his proud pretense of being unaffected when he was clearly delighted.

At the next red light, he reached over, took her right hand, and replied earnestly, "I love you, too!"

She tilted her head to look at him, her bright eyes filled with joyous laughter. He couldn’t help but squeeze her hand tighter.

’This is good enough.’

’This is all I need.’

When they got to the mall, she kept insisting that buying new clothes was a waste since she just stayed home all day. So, he finally led her to the entrance of a lingerie store. She was about to lose her mind. Between the salesclerks’ smiles and the suggestive glances from passersby, she wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole.

But he held her hand tightly, refusing to let her escape. Then he leaned down and whispered in her ear with a wicked grin, "Since you don’t need outerwear, let’s buy a few more sets of lingerie. You can wear them for me at home every day!"

She tugged on his arm, pleading, "Julian Donovan, I was wrong! Can we just go buy other clothes instead?"

’Just going lingerie shopping with a man was embarrassing enough, but he wanted to buy several sets for me to wear for him at home? How did I not know he had such a kinky hobby!’

"Too late!"

He tossed those two words at her and strode inside, pulling her along. Her face turned completely scarlet.

The salesclerk, clearly experienced with all sorts of customers, didn’t seem the least bit fazed by a man walking into the store. On the contrary, she enthusiastically began introducing the features of various styles—push-up, side support, and more. Naomi Shaw’s face burned as she listened, and she kept pinching his palm in protest of the mortifying situation.

He, however, remained perfectly composed, leading her around the entire store after the clerk. Eventually, she gave up struggling. ’What’s done is done,’ she thought, resigning herself to her fate and letting him lead her on.

"See any styles you like?"

He tilted his head and asked good-naturedly, thoughtfully seeking her opinion. She shot him a fierce glare and snapped, "No!"

’If I don’t like any of them, does that mean we can leave right away?’

But to her dismay, he simply nodded in understanding and said, "Then I’ll choose for you!"

She nearly coughed up blood. Before she could even protest, he was already directing the salesclerk to grab this item and that one. She rushed to stop him. "Hey, hey, wait a second—"

Having landed such a big spender, the clerk paid her no mind. She completely ignored Naomi, her eyes glued to Julian Donovan, listening to his instructions. And so, in one go, Julian selected a huge pile of items—not just regular lingerie, but also casual loungewear, and even several styles of blush-inducing... provocative sleepwear!

Naomi Shaw was utterly mortified. The moment they stepped out of the store after he paid, she furiously stormed off, leaving him behind and stalking ahead by herself.

’This is too much! Way too much!’

’Picking out my lingerie was bad enough, but shamelessly choosing that provocative stuff? He can find someone else to wear it for him, because he can forget about me putting it on!’

Julian Donovan watched her storm off ahead of him, juggling several bags. He sighed with a helpless smile. "Hey, I’m the patient here!"

’Didn’t I only want to use this happy occasion to buy her some more things because I noticed she didn’t have many clothes?’ he thought. ’She’s so frugal... what’s the point of me earning so much money? What man doesn’t work hard for the person he loves, for a warm and complete home?’

Naomi Shaw paid him no mind, continuing to stalk ahead. ’If he knows he’s a patient,’ she fumed internally, ’he should be resting at home, not running around a mall!’
