CEO Ex-Husband, Don't Bother Me

Chapter 240 - 185: Making It Official

Chapter 240 - 185: Making It Official

Before Julian Donovan could say what he was planning, the doorbell rang. It was probably Jean Coleman bringing Joy over. He glanced at Naomi, then turned to open the door. ’It’s probably for the best not to tell her now,’ he thought. ’It’ll be a surprise.’

Sure enough, it was Jean Coleman and Joy at the door. He reached out and scooped the little girl into his arms. Joy, wearing a fluffy hat, leaned in and pressed her soft lips against his cheek, calling out softly, "Daddy..."

It had only been a day, but he had missed the little girl terribly. Now, hearing her call to him so softly, his heart was so full he wished he could just squeeze her tiny body into his. He hugged her and planted a kiss on her rosy little cheek.

Jean Coleman laughed at him. "Look at you, so completely smitten. It’s only been a day and you’ve missed her this much!"

He paid her no mind, simply hugging his precious daughter as he walked back inside.

For dinner, Naomi Shaw made four dishes and a soup. Jean Coleman didn’t hide her affection for her daughter-in-law at all, praising her cooking skills, her kindness, and her sensibility until Naomi grew embarrassed. Finally, Jean hesitated for a moment but spoke her mind anyway. "Naomi, Julian, it’s not good for you two to keep dragging this on. You should go get your marriage license reissued soon, and then have a grand wedding!"

"A wedding? There’s no need. We already had one before..."

Their wedding back then had been grand and lavish, too. It was just that at that wedding, his heart hadn’t been in it, and while hers had, she hadn’t been particularly happy or joyful either.

Jean Coleman shook her head resolutely. "That one doesn’t count! A wedding is such a huge event. If I, the mother, wasn’t even there, what kind of wedding was that? I don’t acknowledge it!"

"Uh... well..."

She glanced at Julian Donovan, troubled. "But with Julian’s health the way it is now, it’s not a good time to organize a wedding. Besides, I don’t care about all the pomp and circumstance. As long as he has me in his heart, that’s all that matters..."

Jean Coleman smiled. "Who said you two have to organize it? I’m going to plan it for you myself! You don’t have to worry about a thing. Just show up at the wedding when the time comes!"

Before she could say anything else, Julian Donovan, who had been quiet all evening, suddenly spoke up decisively. "Then I’ll leave it all in your capable hands!"

"Don’t you worry. Your mom is a pretty capable person. Besides, you’re my only son. This is the only time in my life I’ll get to plan something like this, so I’ll definitely do my absolute best!"

Jean Coleman readily agreed. Since mother and son had already made the decision, Naomi Shaw could only remain silent.

After dinner, Jean Coleman was playing with the two children while Naomi was in the kitchen washing dishes. He walked in and said, "Want to go for a walk in Sonoria Plaza later?"

Sonoria Plaza was a square by the sea that was bustling and lively at night. It was very close to their residential community, and sometimes they would walk there during their evening strolls. She agreed as she washed the dishes, "Okay!"

When she finished cleaning the kitchen and came out, Jean Coleman was just about to leave. Uncharacteristically, Julian Donovan said, "Mom, why don’t you come for a walk with us before you go?"

Naomi took the opportunity to invite her as well. "Yes, Dean Coleman, come for a walk with us. Or you could just stay the night here!"

They had been trying to get Jean Coleman to move in with them for a while. After all, she was getting older and needed someone to look after her. Most importantly, she was Julian Donovan’s only living relative, and living together would bring more warmth to their family.

"You want me to come live with you, huh?"

Jean Coleman smiled at her. "We’ll talk about it after you two get your license!"

Naomi was speechless for a moment, then couldn’t help but chuckle. ’Is this her way of pushing us to get married?’

In the end, however, Jean Coleman did stay for the walk. The group headed out for a stroll by the sea. Naomi walked in front with her arm linked through Julian Donovan’s, while Jean held the two children’s hands a short distance behind them. They could occasionally hear the children’s laughter, and Naomi leaned her head contentedly against his shoulder, a faint smile on her lips.

Sonoria Plaza was close by, and they arrived in no time. The square was very lively, crowded with adults and children. Since it was located in a rather prosperous and high-end residential area of Wincastle, there were also many foreigners gathered together, enjoying themselves.

The bell of the church next to the plaza chimed. She looked up at the clock; it was already eight o’clock. Just as she was marveling at how quickly time was passing, fireworks suddenly shot up from all around the plaza, blooming one after another in the dark night sky, dazzling and brilliant.

"Wow, the fireworks are so beautiful!"

She happily turned to pull him closer to enjoy the sight with her, but when she tilted her head, she found him gazing at her intently. Then, under the sky full of fireworks, he suddenly dropped to one knee. He held out a ring to her, his expression solemn. "Naomi Shaw, will you marry me? No, I should say... will you marry me again?"
