Chapter 185 - 154: True Love Conquers All

Chapter 185 - 154: True Love Conquers All

Jean Coleman’s eyes were filled with sincerity, so Naomi didn’t have the heart to refuse. "I’ll have to trouble you then, Dean Coleman. I feel completely at ease leaving the children with you!"

Jean Coleman smiled. "Then it’s settled. Whenever you and Julian are busy, just let me know. I’ll take care of picking up and dropping off the children!"

"Mm..."

Naomi Shaw nodded and turned to interact with the children. Willow Summers hadn’t come today. Apparently, she had gone to the hospital for a prenatal check-up and found out she was pregnant with twins. The news had made Walter Jennings so nervous that he forbade her from volunteering here anymore. He wanted her to stay home and focus on her pregnancy; he even wanted her to quit her job.

Naomi Shaw smiled to herself. ’Knowing Willow’s personality,’ she thought, ’she’s probably going to have a spat with Walter Jennings over this.’

「The war had officially begun.」

Sean Donovan used a pharmaceutical company to block Julian Donovan’s hostile takeover. Julian, in turn, took advantage of Henry Hale also being in Wincastle to gather Caleb Rhodes and Felix Draper. They planned to use SEVEN’s resources to raise their acquisition bid for the Donovan Group even higher.

SEVEN had been established for years, and under their four-way, dedicated management, its power had grown immense. It was not an entity that just any company could compete with. Naturally, Caleb Rhodes and the other two had no objections. SEVEN’s very purpose was to serve as a secret support system, safeguarding each of their respective careers.

After his meeting with Caleb Rhodes and the others, Julian Donovan made another call. His expression was dangerously cold as he ordered, "Get what I need. I want it in my hands by tomorrow!"

"Yes, sir!"

The person on the other end replied respectfully.

By the time Julian Donovan finished with his business, it was nearly evening. He called Naomi Shaw and learned she was still at the orphanage. He then went to the supermarket and bought a ton of groceries, planning to cook a delicious meal for the three of them.

After buying the groceries, he went to pick her and the two children up. Having seen his heartfelt display at the concert last night, Jean Coleman wasn’t as harsh with him. However, she still warned him bluntly, "You’d better treat Naomi well. If you pull anything else, you’ll have me to answer to!"

"I know, I know!"

Julian Donovan answered, feeling frustrated. ’He’d been thinking about asking his mom to come live with them in a few days,’ he thought, ’but he’d better forget that idea. If she moved in, she’d be on Naomi’s side all day, scrutinizing him and ganging up on him. His life would be miserable.’

Watching his expression of suppressed indignation, Naomi Shaw pursed her lips to hide a smile. Dylan, on the other hand, was less subtle and shot him a pointed look, as if to say, ’That’s what you get for not being an obedient son. Look at me—I’m so well-behaved and obedient that Mom is never harsh with me.’

"So, when are you two going to get legally married again?"

Jean Coleman was very concerned about this. She wanted her daughter-in-law’s status to be official and proper.

Julian Donovan cast a sidelong glance at Naomi Shaw before replying to Jean Coleman, "Your son is still on probation. I could be sent packing at any moment. How could I dare think about that stuff right now?"

’Even though he’d managed to win her back last night, he didn’t dare bring up marriage. He couldn’t expect her to marry him again; all he wanted was for her to willingly stay by his side. Of course, it would be wonderful if she agreed to marry him, but there was no rush. He’d focus on rebuilding their relationship first. When the time was right, he would propose.’

"Well, you brought this on yourself!"

Jean Coleman offered him no sympathy whatsoever. Smiling, Naomi quickly cut in to stop the mother-son squabble. "All right, it’s getting late. We should get going!"

’To be honest, she really didn’t want to face the question Jean Coleman had raised. She had no desire to rush into marriage with him again. After everything she had been through, marriage and an official title just didn’t seem that important anymore.’

Julian Donovan didn’t say anything, only gave her a deep, meaningful look before picking up Joy and heading to the car. Naomi took Dylan by the hand and said her goodbyes to Jean Coleman.

Julian Donovan cooked dinner, which made Naomi Shaw feel a little awkward. In her somewhat traditional view, she felt that cooking was something the woman of the house should do. He, however, dismissed her thoughts. "From now on, whoever has time will cook. And on the days neither of us wants to, we’ll just go freeload a meal at my mom’s place!"

’The ideal scenario, of course, was for her to be a stay-at-home wife, tending to her husband and children,’ though this was merely Julian Donovan’s wishful thinking. Unable to win the argument, Naomi Shaw simply let him have his way. She went into the living room to help Dylan with his homework and then spent some time teaching Joy.

After dinner, she put the children to bed. The moment she stepped out of their bedroom, she saw Julian Donovan sitting on the sofa watching TV, fresh from a shower. As soon as he saw her, he shut off the TV, strode over, and swept her into his arms. She struggled, pounding on his chest. "I’m calling a truce for tonight! I have work tomorrow, and I don’t want to be late!"
