Chapter 769: Chapter 516: The Storm Over Adding Scenes
After lunch, Zhou Yun prepared to go to her own rest room for a bit of respite.
"Under the Grand Dress" was not short on investment, the producers provided excellent rest room facilities for everyone.
Nearly every main character had their own exclusive rest room, and each room featured a small bed for rest between filming.
Aside from a small bed, there was also a mini fridge where food and drinks could be stored; of course, importantly, some actors enjoy a drink, so the fridge could supply ice cubes as needed.
On the way over, everybody was busy with their own tasks at hand.
The filming was about to start soon; the main scene editing room set was already complete, but there were some less critical scenes that were to be filmed later and were still being prepared.
The rent for this place wasn’t cheap, but it triumphed in fully meeting their needs.
"Under the Grand Dress" would shoot eighty percent of its scenes inside studios, with very few on location.
The editing room, the homes of several main characters, the bars they often frequent, as well as the studio and other workplaces, were all constructed inside the studio.
This was good because it ensured that only the staff could come and go, without disturbance from paparazzi and the actors’ fans.
Zhou Yun encountered Cheng Shenlv in the corridor.
Cheng Shenlv was cheerful and extroverted; upon seeing her, she warmly greeted, "Sister Xiao Yun!"
Zhou Yun: "Aren’t you taking a break at noon?"
Cheng Shenlv said with a smile: "I’ll rest, I’m going to find my agent first."
"Hmm." Zhou Yun nodded, "See you later."
Cheng Shenlv replied with an energetic voice, and her smile remained until Zhou Yun walked away before gradually disappearing.
Thinking about what she was about to discuss with her agent, she took a serious deep breath.
"You want the director to add scenes for you?" The agent was surprised upon hearing Cheng Shenlv’s idea, "Shenlv, why are you suddenly thinking of this?"
Cheng Shenlv said: "I’ve carefully read the script, and I feel there’s much more to explore with the editor I’m playing, besides, with so many actors and roles in this play, I need to appear more. Don’t you hope that I can stand out in this drama?"
"Of course, I wish you could stand out, but, Shenlv, this isn’t a production by Yuehai alone; if you rashly ask for more scenes, how could the director agree? Let alone, the real decision-maker of this drama is not the director, but Zhou Yun; do you think she would agree with your proposal?" The agent said somewhat helplessly.
Cheng Shenlv was a smart and proactive Actress, which was her strong suit, but on the other hand, sometimes too naïve, ready to act on anything seemingly in her favor without carefully weighing the pros and cons.
The agent said: "Your current screen time is already not little. Aside from Zhou Yun, Zeng Lili, and Wan Fangli, you have the most screen time. If you ask for more, do you think they would have no objections?"
But Cheng Shenlv couldn’t be dissuaded. She was still young, just having finished one film before being noticed by Yuehai who extended an olive branch. "Under the Grand Dress" was her second film. She was not yet clear on the intricacies of interpersonal relationships and dynamics among actors in the crew.
"But if my idea is reasonable, why wouldn’t the director agree?" said Cheng Shenlv, "Look, the newcomer editor I play is a rookie but an aspiring character in the script, serving as an instrument to disseminate fundamental knowledge of the fashion industry, right? As many audiences are not so familiar with the fashion industry, there has to be a character to explain these specialized pieces of information unfamiliar to the viewer. But I think that a rookie, in addition to liking to ask questions, would certainly want to actively improve and quickly enhance their capabilities, right? Currently, in the script, there are only very few scenes about my character being proactive. In fact, I feel that the role I play should carry more value, through which young viewers can receive the message that effort leads to reward, rather than just making mistakes and seeking advice from seniors. If I don’t sort things out on my own and strive, the knowledge I gain will never truly be mine, right?"
