Chapter 599: Chapter 451: Another Game of Wits (Part 2)
"Don’t even start. I’m not dealing with trouble I didn’t cause myself," Zhou Yun said, arms crossed. "I’m nobody’s fool."
Zhou Lan: "Can’t be bothered to argue with you. Get up, join me for dinner. I’ve been dealing with your mess all day and haven’t had a bite to eat. I’m so hungry I’m dizzy."
"Let’s go, I’ll take you to a great place!" Zhou Yun had only been here for three days but already acted like a confident host.
...
What Zhou Lan found amazing was that whether online or in real life, the love affair between Zhou Yun and Song Chi was the talk of the town, the subject of everyone’s gossip, yet both of them acted as if nothing happened, eating and drinking without a care for the talk around them.
Zhou Yun seemed to truly be that kind of person. From winning awards to now having her relationship exposed, she seemed almost indifferent.
In contrast, Zhou Yun started asking about her affairs.
"How are things with your photographer?" Zhou Yun asked.
Zhou Lan took a bite of grilled fish before replying, "Same as always, pretty good."
Zhou Yun asked with curiosity, "You both must travel a lot for work, right?"
"Yes," Zhou Lan nodded. "I have to go on business trips when required, and he often has to travel all over the country for work, sometimes abroad too."
"I really want to meet the guy who has managed to tame you," Zhou Yun said.
In Zhou Yun’s eyes, Zhou Lan had always been a very capable and professional woman, vigorous and decisive; even in moments of vulnerability, she held a ’die-before-surrender’ attitude.
Zhou Yun really wanted to know what she was like in a relationship.
Would she act coy?
These past few days, Zhou Yun had been sleeping with Song Chi every night, an experience she had never had before.
Being with someone for a long time, in such an intimate state, she’d dropped all her guard.
At that moment, Zhou Yun’s phone rang.
It was Song Chi calling.
Zhou Yun answered the call.
"Where are you?" Song Chi asked.
"Out and about. Sister Lan is here, and she wanted me to take her out for some food," Zhou Yun replied with a smile in her voice, "Have you finished work?"
"Yeah, just got to the hotel. I’ll come find you," Song Chi said. "Send me the address."
"Okay," Zhou Yun replied.
"Song Chi is coming over," she informed Zhou Lan.
Zhou Lan frowned, "I’m almost done eating. Why’s he coming?"
"To pick up the tab," Zhou Yun confidently stated.
Zhou Lan: "...I seriously suspect you’re just showing off your love to tease me."
"You know me best," Zhou Yun laughed, her eyes curving into crescents.
"Just don’t go all lovey-dovey on me."
"As if there’s a chance with you here," Zhou Yun winked at Zhou Lan. "The same goes for you."
Zhou Lan smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Some journalists I’m familiar with want to schedule an interview with you. Are you up for it?" she asked.
"Now’s not a good time. They’ll all want to ask about my relationship. I’d rather not," Zhou Yun shook her head. "Even though we’re not hiding it anymore, I still don’t want to expose the details. Sister Lan, could you cover for me?"
"I was thinking the same thing. I’ll be careful with future interviews," Zhou Lan said. "We won’t talk about the relationship with Song Chi. I just wonder if he’ll do the same."
Zhou Yun: "He hasn’t done interviews in a long time."
Zhou Lan nodded.
Especially since the beginning of the year, after Song Chi’s reputation got hit when a close senior of his got exposed for having an affair, he hasn’t appeared in the media. He focused on acting, managing his own company, and even stopped going on shows.
"A lot of producers, directors, and hosts want to invite you onto their programs," Zhou Lan said. "They’re offering good money. We should choose a few to go on. Ignoring them all isn’t a good look."
Zhou Yun said with a troubled expression, "Wait until I’m done filming, maybe in November."
"Your schedule for November is already packed, and in December you have to shoot ’Falling Leaves’," Zhou Lan said. "One of the programs is hosted by Lew Yuan. Didn’t he talk to you about it?"
"No," Zhou Yun shook her head. "Since Brother Lew Yuan’s show has extended an invite, I might as well go if the timing’s right."
"It is right," Zhou Lan nodded. "It’s just before ’Gentle Little Horse’ starts filming."
Zhou Yun said, "I’m not worried about getting trapped into talking about my love life on Brother Lew Yuan’s show, haha."
