Chapter 49: Tough defense
Chapter 49: Tough defense
’It’s... Huge!’
Acheron thought, forming a wicked smile on her face.
"The hell was that?!" Dalia called out.
"It’s the boss monster..." Acheron replied calmly. "Let’s keep moving forward. It’s just up ahead."
Ahead of everyone, Alackster took the lead. William followed close by, ready to provide support if needed.
’For one thing... This frog looks dynamically huge. We should be able to reduce its HP using our speed advantage. It should not be able to move around much.’ Acheron thought as she turned towards Morena.
She was terrified of the monster, but was even more terrified of the beast she thought Acheron summoned.
Alackster took a step forward.
Click.
"..."
Whoosh!
In an instant, massive claws appeared from nowhere, large enough to destroy the vicinity.
Alackster saw them approach his eyes, inches away from making contact. He tried to move but he wasn’t fast enough.
Being naturally faster than all of them, Morena was able to track the movement of what was attacking.
It was the boss of the floor. The tyrant frog’s huge body covered every ray of light from above, casting a large shadow over them.
This was a strange thing about this creature. At first glance, it looked huge and probably slow.
However, ignoring its enormous weight, its movement speed was insane.
An ability it kept hidden to trick opponents into letting their guard down so it could strike.
A situation just like now.
Reacting almost immediately, Morena clasped her hands together, forming the sign to use one of her skills.
"Flashing Shores!" She shouted.
Crash!
Crack...!
Crack...!
Crash!
The Tyrant Frog’s claws dug deep into the ice, creating a gigantic hole.
Alackster and William vanished backwards, covered in red particles as they avoided the area that was attacked.
Acheron snapped back to reality, processing what had just happened.
’That was close...’ She looked at the massive crater where Alackster and William had been walking through moments ago.
Alackster steadied himself and turned to Arlo. "Thanks man, you saved us."
"Yeah, thanks," William regained his balance.
While they complimented him, Dalia glanced at Arlo with confusion. ’Arlo just cast a spatial spell? I thought he was a...’
"It’s coming again!" Morena shouted.
Acheron switched to full command mode. "Alackster, William, Arlo... You three engage directly. Dalia and I will provide support from the sides and... Do not make contact with it!"
The Tyrant Frog removed its claws from the ice and let out a deafening roar.
SHRIEKKKKK!
"You dare spoil my kill!" The frog’s voice boomed across the wasteland.
It launched itself forward with terrifying speed.
All of them scattered at once. Alackster, William, and Morena launched different attacks as they leaped into the air.
Dalia raised her hand and chanted:
"Von Gran Levitas!"
A golden light glowed around the three attackers, allowing them to float seamlessly through the air.
Alackster held out his hand and formed sharp wind blades.
Slash!
Slash!
The blades connected with the frog’s thick icy hide, leaving shallow cuts.
Acheron monitored the HP through her Author’s View.
[Glacial Tyrant Frog HP: 1,499,999 / 1,500,000]
’Only one HP...?’ Acheron thought.
William came in from the side, wrapping his fists in ice to avoid direct contact.
*Boom!*
His punch landed on the frog’s side.
[Glacial Tyrant Frog HP: 1,499,998 / 1,500,000]
’Tsk! As expected, its skin is too hard.’ Morena clicked her tongue in frustration as she raised her hand, summoning dark chains around the foot of the frog, preventing its spiral speed.
Acheron stood in front of Dalia, protecting her from any danger.
’At this rate, it’ll take forever to kill this thing!’ She folded her hands and began to chant in a low tone.
"Shadows of the abyss, heed my call and manifest in flesh... Dark Goblin!"
A magic circle appeared on the ground and a towering goblin manifested itself. It stood at least fifty feet tall, easily matching the size of the dungeon boss.
The Dark Goblin roared and charged at the frog, swinging its massive fists wildly.
Boom! Boom!
The two titans clashed, the impact shaking the entire frozen wasteland.
During this time, Alackster realized his spell was not doing much and prepared a large scale spell.
At his side, William did the same as did Morena.
They all condensed their mana and launched at the same time.
"...Divine rosalia!"
"Frost of the days flower!"
"...One destruction."
BOOM!
CRASH!
BOOM!
[Glacial Tyrant Frog HP: 1,499,903 / 1,500,000]
Acheron watched the battle wage on at an incredibly slow pace despite their efforts.
’This is going to be a long fight...’
...
In the quiet corner of the Horned Demon’s room.
Nieves trembled in her weak state, sweat dripping on the floor with a sickening sound.
Beside her was Chiara who was in a similar state.
Snore...!
The horned demon sat in his chair. His eyes had been closed for about an hour now. He took a quick nap, relieving himself of any exhaustion.
Nieves turned her head towards Chiara, trying to muster up energy to call out... But she couldn’t.
They had fainted and woken up about five times. Their bodies were forcefully trying to adjust to the ’thing’ the horned demon placed in them.
Nieves’ vision began to blur.
’No... I can’t pass out again...’ However, her body betrayed her and she slipped into unconsciousness.
Just as her eyes closed, the space behind them tore apart.
RIIIIIP!
A blinding light shone through the rift, lighting up the gloomy chamber.
The noise caused the demon to open one eye, hindering his sleep momentarily.
Upon realization, he sighed and asked:
"What do you want, Angel?"
From the rift stepped out the being that had helped Skye and the others leave the dungeon.
She was the only one who had full authority over the dungeon... An entity that was trapped in this space as a human, then gradually merged during the years to become the dungeon itself.
Her name was Rose, the Valiant Revelation. The Eternal Mage locked inside the dungeon.
