Chapter 680: Trapped in a Dominant Obsession
Chapter 680: Trapped in a Dominant Obsession
"Let me go, let me go..." His rough actions were unbearable for her. This man had gone mad, Avery Jane felt she had truly provoked a lunatic, one without a shred of normal rationality.
Was it because he was Joshua Hughes that he became so arrogant and domineering?
Because she couldn’t resist, because she was too weak, was she meant to endure such bullying and humiliation from him, again and again?
"From the day I wanted you, I never planned to let you go."
In Joshua Hughes’ eyes was a resolute light. She could only be his. Not even since the day he wanted her, it should have been from the moment he first laid eyes on her. The moment she appeared in his view like a dream cloaked in the night, he had no intention of letting go.
"I am your first man, and you can only be mine, understand?"
His large hand pulled her hair back, forcing her to look up and face him.
He had always had great self-control. When that woman betrayed him many years ago, he was never this angry.
But Avery Jane, with just a few words, could make him like a madman possessed.
When he heard her talking about dying, about being with Lucas Yates, he was even more furious beyond restraint.
This damned woman. He tried to understand her, didn’t want to make things difficult, but in her heart, this was all she thought of him?
Did she take him as a lunatic, a psychopath?
"You should try and understand what a madman really is."
The short, forceful words, the cruel laughter made Avery Jane tremble. She didn’t dare to imagine what kind of punishment awaited her.
He was impeccably dressed, but Avery Jane knew that beneath such an appearance, he was an utter Beast, and those luxurious clothes only draped him in a veneer of civility.
His breath fell hotly on her bare back: "Isn’t your mouth quite sharp? Then let me see if it can be even sharper?"
He truly had no modicum of rationality left. This woman, he had already retreated step by step, yet she couldn’t appreciate it one bit.
Was it because she disliked him so much that she was secretly seducing other men, attempting to leave him one day?
This thought made Joshua Hughes lose all remaining reason.
She was not this man’s match because she wasn’t ruthless enough.
Avery Jane closed her eyes in despair, opening her crimson lips, and Joshua held her long hair, pulling back harshly. In an instant, Avery Jane felt she was already in the painful Inferno.
How much time had passed, she didn’t know. In truth, perhaps not very long at all? But for her, it seemed as if countless light-years had elapsed.
Avery Jane was so weak she didn’t even have the strength to look at him, breathing difficultly, unable to move.
Joshua Hughes smiled, patting her small face: "Wait in the car, someone will come to pick you up in ten minutes. Behave and wait for me tonight."
Avery Jane lay limp in the backseat of the car like a broken doll.
She struggled to tidy her clothes, combing her disheveled long hair.
Who would be coming to pick her up?
The acidity in her heart filled her to the brim, why did it have to be her?
Wenyard Cooper, should I not have gone to see you that day.
If I hadn’t gone to see you that day, I wouldn’t have met that man, and if I hadn’t met him, I wouldn’t have had to endure such humiliation.
Just as she was drowning in sorrow, the car door was flung open.
Avery Jane stared blankly at the woman standing outside the car; she had seen her before, it was Joshua Hughes’ secretary.
Victoria Diaz never thought that Joshua Hughes would let her come here to pick someone up, and the person was Avery Jane.
Seeing such a scene felt like it stuffed her heart with a suffocating air, yet she had nowhere to vent. That was her boss; what could she say?
No one could control Joshua Hughes.
Victoria Diaz drove while glancing at Avery Jane through the rearview mirror, almost grinding her teeth to powder.
She had loved Joshua Hughes for many years. She had even offered herself to him, but men always crave the new, and he seemed to have lost interest in her.
She thought if her work was excellent enough, then he would always remain somewhat dependent on her.
So for so many years, she comforted herself this way, watching woman after woman beside Joshua Hughes until Avery Jane’s appearance gave her a real sense of crisis.
Because she found Joshua Hughes was greatly interested in this woman or perhaps, Avery Jane was somewhat different to Joshua Hughes.
