Chapter 277 – Terribly rude

Chapter 277 – Terribly rude

Sophia gave Chiyo and Dannie a quick rundown on her portals and took them to the capital together with Maya. There, they ran into Theo and Eve, who were in the tiger’s mansion, and they spent a good while catching up with each other. After all, it had been over a year since the two parents had last been in Raumont.

“Do you really think they’re going to be fine?” Maya and Sophia had relocated to the capital when the cat-girl looked at her tiger. “Leaving Chiyo and Dannie to explore the capital on their own, that is.”

“Why not? After all, they’re adults. Also, Eve and Theo went with them, so what do you think is going to happen?” The blonde tilted her head. “It’s not like they’d get an authentic feel of the capital with me around, anyway.”

“Fair enough.” She had nothing to add there. “By the way, why are we in the castle again?”

“I wanted to tell Menzor that we’ve arrived at your place, as it's the last city I'll be placing a portal in for a while. Maybe the prince and the others are interested in exploring it, too. Your brother most likely would want to know, right? From what I remember, Vivi also used to live nearby."

“Right, my brother is here…” The cat-girl paused for a moment. “I kind of forgot about that.”

“How terribly rude!” She disapprovingly shook her head.

“…” Maya just stared at her. “What’s his name?”

“Luca!” The blonde started pouting.

“Wait, how and why do you remember his name! I get Vivi, she’s super cute, after all, but Luca?”

“He’s your brother!” Her pouting got even stronger. “I’d never forget the names of your family members! Immediate, that is… Extended would be impossible…” Her voice trailed off a little towards the end.

“Wow.” The cat-girl was at a loss for words.

“I demand lots of praise for that!”

"Of course," Maya smirked at her. "I'll reward you plenty tonight~."

“That’s not what I… Well, actually, sure, sounds good.” Sophia needed exactly one second to start liking the idea.

“Hehe.”

“Anyway, let’s head to the King for now.” Sophia dropped the topic. “The faster we take care of that, the faster we can head into the monster country, and the quicker we’ll be able to leave for the demon continent!”

“Sure.”

----------------

“Uh-oh.” Menzor instinctively grabbed his head the moment Sophia and Maya entered his office.

“How terribly rude!” The blonde had the same reaction as with Maya earlier, before looking at Nathan, who was also in the room. “Do you think that’s the correct way to treat me?”

“Well, Father did spend the last couple of days telling what you did the past year, so I can understand his reaction.” The prince scratched his cheek. “Although, while I agree that your talent to cause headaches is unparalleled, it does appear to be rude as you are our most important benefactor.”

“Thank you very much!” Sophia smiled at him and then faced Menzor again. “Are there any plans to make him the king anytime soon?”

“Unfortunately, the answer there is no.” He shook his head.

“I’m still too young and inexperienced.” Nathan agreed with him. “Father also still has a few good years left.”

“Oi!” Menzor didn't like the way he phrased it. “Anyway, what are you here for this time?” He wanted to change the topic.

“Hehe.” The blonde let out a small chuckle before continuing. “It’s about the outpost city near the monster country.”

"Ohh!" The prince clapped his hands. “You were planning to head there, right. Is it time?”

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“Yeah.” She just nodded. “We arrived there earlier today and reunited with some friends.”

“Eh?!” Nathan got loud. “Already?! What’s wrong with you?!”

“And you called me rude.” Menzor glared at his son.

"A-Ah.” He had reacted without thinking.

“I retract my earlier statement.” Sophia started pouting once more. “I can’t wait for Ellie to grow up and become the Queen instead!”

“You can’t wait for Ellie to grow up…?” Maya raised an eyebrow in return. “Are you sure about that?”

“I hate it here!” She obviously didn’t want her to grow up at all. “I’m going home!” She had enough of it. Sophia then actually turned around and left the office.

“Fair enough.” The cat-girl couldn’t really blame her for that.

“I’ll try to only have a reaction until after

she tells me the reason for her visit the next time." Menzor felt bad about it.“She’s just being dramatic, don’t worry about it.” Maya smiled at him. “If she actually was upset, she wouldn’t have left. Though, that’s still not a bad idea.”

“That’s reassuring to hear.” He let out a relieved sigh. “Was there anything else she wanted to tell us before she left?”

“The main part was the fact that we arrived in Raumont earlier today.” The cat-girl shrugged. “Anna and the others are still there, so she will probably meet the mayor before long, as well, so it’s kind of the usual when we go to a new city. We mostly wanted to tell Luca and Vivi about it because they’re from that region too. Oh, and the part where that will be our last city for a while because of our plan to head into the monster country before leaving for the demon continent.”

“…” The king paused for a moment. “You can’t really blame me for having the reactions I have when I hear about those things, right?”

“Not really, no.” Maya shook her head.

“Anyway, thank you very much for informing me.” Menzor returned to the topic. “I’ll start preparing for the meeting with the mayor of Raumont.”

“Ohh, I look forward to that!” Nathan got a little excited. “I can’t wait to learn more about the administrative side of the portal topic.”

“Sure, have fun with that.” The cat-girl rolled her eyes because she knew that it was just a contest of how fast someone’s common sense can be broken. “Alright, I’ll go cheer up my pouty tiger for now.” With that being said, Maya also left the office.

----------------

“Oh, would you look at that, my favorite puma!” While Maya was still in Menzor’s office, Sophia had run into Vivi and cheerfully greeted her.

“Hey there, my favorite blonde tiger!” She playfully waved back at her. “What are you doing here?”

“Just some administrative stuff.” She scratched her cheek in return.

“Causing His Majesty headaches?” Vivi let out a small laugh.

“How do you know about that?” Sophia had some mixed feelings about that.

“Nathan told us about a few things his father mentioned to him. Personally, I disagree because I love everything you do, and I’m a big fan, but I can see how more normal-thinking people get overstimulated by you.”

“So, you’re not normal, huh?”

“Gosh, I seriously hope not!” She rapidly shook her head. “Normal is boring!”

“I’m slightly concerned that you might become my favorite in the future.” Sophia’s expression turned cheeky.

“Hehe.” Vivi liked that. “Though, you might run into issues with Nina there.”

“I’d run into a lot more issues there~.” The blonde just chuckled. “And not just with Maya.”

"Fair enough." Having already briefly gotten to know her group, the puma could see where she was coming from. “Anyway, was it the interesting type of administrative stuff or the boring one?”

"A bit of both.” Sophia shrugged. “On the interesting side, we have the part where we arrived at Maya’s and Luca’s hometown. The outpost one near the monster country.”

“How are you there already?!” The puma raised her voice.

“I’m quite the fast runner~.” She gave her a thumbs-up.

“I don’t think that’s how that works.” Vivi shook her head. “I don’t think even birds could fly there in a straight line as fast as you got there from where you picked us up the other day.”

“There’s your problem.” Sophia stared right at her. “I don’t do straight things.”

“I mean, same, but that doesn’t really explain things, does it now?”

“Well, we ran a lot, because that’s great fun, but my portals were doing most of the heavy lifting.” The blonde decided to explain it a little more. “I basically throw it for like a hundred kilometers away by boosting my strength with magic. That way, we can skip that entire bit of travel.”

“You sure are something else!” The puma’s eyes were sparkling. “I’m so envious!”

“Hehe.” She liked her reaction. “By the way, there will be a portal leading to that place from here soon, so you all can go visit it whenever you like. Your home wasn’t too far away from there, either, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, I mean, it’s a couple of days of travel, but it’s close-ish.” Vivi nodded. “I’m looking forward to it, thank you very much!”

“You’re welcome~.”

“Oh, speaking of using your portals!” Vivi suddenly clapped her hands. “What do I need to do to get a peek at the center of the monster country, and, of course, to visit the demon continent?!” Her voice was overflowing with excitement. “Though, I also ask for protection in the monster country. The center might be too much for me.”

“Asking me nicely is all I need~.”

“Pretty please let me visit those places!”

“Sure~.”

“Thank you so much!”

“Also, you have to make sure to infect the others in your group with your curiosity! We need more people who don’t care about the established common sense and or danger!”

“I’ve been doing that since long before I met you, so I have no plans on stopping that anytime soon.” Vivi replied with a cheeky smirk.

“You’re the best!”

“I know~.”

Afterward, the two kept chatting for a little longer before Maya eventually joined them after finishing up with Menzor and Nathan. Cluing her in on what they talked about, the trio went to Luca to also tell him about the news of them having reached his hometown, Raumont.
