Boosted Continuation

Chapter 272 – Quite the blunder

Chapter 272 – Quite the blunder

The group made it to the bottom of the crater, where Canir's joke dungeon was in the past, and Sophia used a portal to get rid of the massive cluster of the type of magic ore that sucks the magic power of everyone touching it. Before that, it still knocked out Steph because she just had to find out if she was stronger than it. She wasn’t.

“By the way, did you actually want to help them, or did you just want to yoink the crystal cluster for your domain?” The group had left the crater again and was slowly walking alongside a path towards Maya’s hometown when Ari addressed Sophia.

“Yes.” The blonde smiled at her. "Well, I don't have any direct use for it right now, but it never hurts having it around."

“I disagree!” Steph shook her head. “It hurts a lot!”

“I probably should’ve portaled the red fence to keep you away from it, too, huh?” Sophia rolled her eyes. “No touching it anymore.”

“I HAD to satisfy my curiosity!” She had learned nothing.

“Anyway, are we heading to Raumont next?” Maya changed the topic before looking at her tiger. “My home, I mean. We’re only a few days away from it. Well, or a couple of hours if you, Fen, and Aura go for it.”

“Yup, that’s the next destination on our list!” The blonde smiled at her. “I was about to suggest that it would be fun to retrace our steps from back then, but I don’t even have the slightest idea which direction we took, and we completely went off the beaten tracks, so I doubt even Fenny could find it.”

“Yeah, that’s not happening.” The wolf in question shook his head. “I can navigate us to the home of our cat, but I didn’t pay attention to the path we took back then.”

“Same.” Maya nodded a few times.

“Was there anything interesting along the way you wanted to see again?” Anna also got a little curious.

“Not really.” Sophia shook her head. “Only a bunch of make ship baths in the middle of nowhere when we made camp, I guess. I was just feeling a little nostalgic.”

“Fair enough.”

----------------

“By the way, I know the monster country has been a topic many times before, but what are we actually going to do once we're in there?" The group was slowly getting closer to Maya’s hometown when Ari looked at Sophia with a questioning expression. “Are we just going to walk in a straight line from one side to the other to get to the ocean there as quickly as possible?”

“Absolutely not.” The blonde shook her head a couple of times.

“Besides the part where you don’t do anything straight

…” The jaguar rolled her eyes as she noticed her mistake. “Are we just going from point A to B in an extremely inefficient manner?” She added a few more details.“Sounds like a plan to me!” Sophia liked her idea. “As always, we’ll take a detour if we spot something interesting, but otherwise, I want to get to the demon continent as soon as possible and befriend all the special dragons! Maybe some regular ones, too~.”

“And I’m going to fight all the new friends you’ll make!” Aura was just as excited as the blonde, just for different reasons.

“Only if they want to, okay?” She stared right at her. "No attacking them without asking! Well, unless they do so first."

“They’re gigantic sapient dragons dripping with power.” Aura just looked back at her. “They obviously want to fight! Though, fine, I’ll ask first.”

“Fair enough, and thank you.”

“Is it really such a good idea to put all those important-sounding dragons into your domain?" Chloe tilted her head as she faced Sophia. “Like, what if they’re in this world for a reason?”

“It’s not like I’m going to force them, okay?” She shrugged in return. “Also, just like Kel, everyone will get their own portal to return to their territory as long and often as they want.”

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

“Yeah, okay, that should be alright enough.” Chloe nodded a few times.

“Also, knowing Mira, there's no way she would've let their existence slip like that if she wasn't expecting Sophia to do exactly that." Aura let out a chuckle. “Most of the time, she just plays slipping up, after all.”

“That’s another great point.” The pink fox, daughter of said overseer, had nothing to add there.

“Well, anyway, that at least means we’re not going to stay for too long in the monster country, so I’m all for it.” Ari actually sounded a bit relieved. "From what I understood, nothing strong enough for Sophia is in there, either, so it will be easy, too."

“You did not say that just now?!” Maya suddenly got loud. “Thanks to that, we’re going to spend the next year there!”

"?!" The jaguar immediately put her hands over her mouth after realizing the horrible mistake she had just made. “I-I’m so sorry!”

“Let’s go!” Smirking at her first, Steph then began sprinting in the direction they were walking in the entire time.

“I can’t wait to find the most amazing monster in existence now that Ari willed it into existence~!” Sophia had the same reaction before she ran after her sister.

“I’m so going to fight Ari’s super monster!” Aura understood the assignment and also followed after the sisters.

“Do you think there’s something like the elder dragons for monsters, too?” Fen also let out a chuckle while looking at the jaguar before joining the others.

“I want to go home…” She hung her head in defeat.

"To be fair, if someone else had messed up as badly as you did just now, you would be teasing them just as much.” Chloe comfortingly put her hand on Ari’s shoulder as she slowly shook her head. “You have very little room to complain here.”

“…”

“I am delighted that it wasn’t me who said it.” Maya nodded a few times.

“Yup, those who dish it out must also be able to take it~.” Anna smiled at her girlfriend. “You are especially talented at dishing out, so this is totally fair.”

“Grr.”

With Ari being sufficiently teased, the remaining girls eventually followed after the sisters and the wolves as well, and everyone continued their journey towards Maya’s home.

----------------

“I’m displeased by how warm this area is.”

“Same.” Everyone was traveling together again, but Steph and Chloe weren’t the biggest fans of the temperature.

“It’s the best!” The two tigers thought otherwise.

“It could even be a little warmer if you ask me.” Ari had recovered from earlier and also nodded a few times.

“You’re in luck.” Maya smiled at her. “My hometown already is a little warmer, and the closer we'll get to the monster country, the higher the temperature will become."

“Ohh~!”

"Oh." Even though it sounded similar, Ari's reaction was quite different from Chloe's and Steph's.

“Boring as it was, I'm looking forward to the climate in the monster country." Sophia lightly clapped her hands in anticipation.

“Right, I suppressed the memory once again…” The pink fox let out a sigh. “Most of that place is a dry wasteland, and it might be time for another vacation in the domain until our cats reach the ocean.”

“B-But I want to see it!” Steph sounded rather conflicted. “You and Sophia calling it boring means nothing, after all! I bet there’s adventure to be had in there!”

“I’m not going to stop you, but there’s a high chance I’ll sit this one out.” Chloe shrugged.

“The part of the demon continent we’ll first set foot on after crossing the ocean is even warmer than the monster country, you know?” Aura stared at the fox-girl. “Especially because it’s looking like we’re going to arrive there in the middle of the summer.”

“…” She paused for a second. “That’s fine! I know the monster country is boring, except that I still want to pet a griffin, but the demon continent is new and exciting! I’ll just power through it with magic~.”

“So whimsical.” Aura didn’t know what else to say.

“You’re like one of the most whimsical individuals in our group, so I’m not sure if you’re praising or making fun of me.”

“Yes~.” The female wolf obviously had to reply like that. She takes great pride in being whimsical, after all.

“Yeah, I saw that one coming.” Chloe wasn’t even a little surprised by that.

“I’ll do the same in the monster place!” Steph energetically clapped her hands. “I’ll complain a whole lot because it’s still going to look hot, but I’ll manage!”

“Well, that’s nothing new with all of you, so that’s to be expected.” Aura let out another chuckle.

“Hmm.” The dog-girl stared at her for a moment. “I was about to throw that back at you, but you don’t actually complain much at all, so that’s quite upsetting!”

“Life’s too short to complain or be upset~.” There was a bit of extra sass in her voice.

“Don't you fall under the category of being biologically immortal as your magic stops you from aging?!” Steph raised her voice. “That’s the literal opposite of life being too short!”

“Just because I don't age, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t almost die multiple times already. Not aging doesn’t mean your life still couldn’t be over tomorrow.”

“Mhm, I guess that is fair.” The dog-girl looked a little awkward. “Still, short is still the wrong adjective for you! Life’s too unpredictable, makes way more sense!”

“It would be a lot less funny, though. You wouldn’t have had this reaction if I said that, after all.”

“I still have so much to learn from you!” Steph had to bow before her. “You are the master of trolling! You’re the best!”

“Hehe.” The wolf let out another chuckle. “Sure thing! It’s a good thing we have all the time in the world as we don’t age, because there’s much to teach you~.”

“Never mind, I hate you!”

Once Aura was done teasing Steph, which took quite a while, the group continued their travel towards Maya’s home to get there eventually.
