Capítulo 1963: Chapter 630: Luring the Enemy into the Trap (Part 3)

“Your Eminence…” General Reyes glanced weakly at the back of the Cardinal Priest, then looked up at old Liu.

“A hundred thousand Mulanese is nothing; if I really wanted, my Summer Palace guards could handle them all!” Liu Zhankai waved his hand, indicating that Reyes need not speak: “But we’re facing a prolonged battle; we must shatter the enemy’s spirit and pride at once, so I’ve got a plan in mind, but it’s not appropriate to tell you much about it! You just need to manage your own troops and make sure to guard the main city of this Northeast Province! As for the opinion of the church, just let it go in one ear and out the other. After all, Witherspoon’s highest military officer is you, not him.”

General Reyes nodded silently.

A unit of Mulan cavalry, flying the silver star moon banner, swaggered past Witherspoon City, the wild shouts spreading dust everywhere as the camel hooves trampled the ground.

“What fierce curved blades!” Several Beamon Generals and human military observers couldn’t help but praise.

These Mulan knights didn’t urge their mounts with whips but instead tapped them with their sabers while shouting and elegantly twirling their blades while galloping. From the vantage point of Witherspoon’s city walls, the sharp sabers in the Mulan riders’ hands were clearly visible.

These mysterious crescent-shaped long-bladed sabers, with a solid and heavy posture, were covered in brown-colored peculiar cloud patterns that were vastly different from the usual Mulan battle knife cloud brocade patterns, evoking a suffocating sensation as if one’s throat had been slit at a mere glance.

“That’s a Damascus blade.” Liu Zhankai was familiar with the Mulan people: “The Royal Capital of Mulan is rich with rare Uzi iron ore, and weapons forged from this ore are far sharper than those made from ordinary Uzi ore! It is said that in the Mulan Empire, only the best Mojie warriors in the royal tent can possess such treasured blades.”

As if boasting, this team of Mulan cavalry turned their chestnut camels in a wide arc in the wilderness, then circled back under Witherspoon City once more; this time, they showcased their exquisite riding skills, each rider hanging off their saddle, with just one foot hooked onto the stirrup. They looked like a bird spreading its wings, with their curved blades hanging towards the ground, galloping forward alongside the chestnut camels, and wherever they went, the ground was lined with neatly flattened grass and vines.

The brilliance of a fine blade is truly experienced during cutting, and these Mulan riders, although merely using their crescent long blades to down a row of wild grass, demonstrated remarkable precision where not even a single grass stem jumped up as the blade cut. This suggests that these sabers must be unparalleled in ferocity during beheadings.

The bearded leader of this Mulan cavalry team, upon passing by the moat, appeared to effortlessly swing his saber with a flash of cold light; ten meters away across the moat, an enormous old toon tree silently shattered into three sections, the massive tree trunk segments crashing loudly to the ground.

“Damn it!” Liu Zhankai was furious. This toon tree was the only large tree outside Witherspoon City, said to have been planted four hundred years ago. It was under this tree that Cui Beixi made him and Helen understand how deeply they loved each other, but now this symbol of their love was obliterated by a single stroke from a Mulan thief.

Although the Beamon Generals weren’t as outraged as Liu Zhankai, they were nonetheless secretly amazed by the Mulan people’s exquisite blade techniques and the sharpness of their weaponry.

This Mulan cavalry team stopped their camels outside of bow and arrow range, brazenly laughing at the Beamon warriors on the city wall.

The laughter hadn’t faded when the Mulan riders’ luck ran out.

A rainstorm of dense arrows transformed the camel cavalry six hundred yards away into hedgehogs.

Despite several agile Mulan riders sensing danger and grabbing the tortoise shell steel shields hanging on their saddles to block the vital parts of their bodies, the penetrating sharp arrowheads easily pierced through both the shields and the flesh hiding behind them.

The bearded officer who earlier exhibited exquisite blade skills to sever the old toon tree now had his head filled with a dense cluster of arrow tails, looking like a large cactus as he wobbled on the camel’s back, but for some reason, refused to fall.

All the master archers of the Summer Palace kept their bows drawn, the bowstrings quivered, and everyone had a fan of arrows spread in their right hand.

“Who just said they liked them? Go down and pick up a couple of Damascus blades as souvenirs,” Liu Zhankai crossed his arms, looking at the flustered Mulan cavalry who dared not approach within six hundred yards, chuckled nastily: “I guarantee safety!”

Beamon truly lived up to their name; a deafening cheer erupted from the city wall, and surprisingly, the gates of Witherspoon were opened.

The iron chains creaked as they turned, slowly lowering the long drawbridge.

The human military observers exchanged bewildered glances, sticking out their tongues at each other.

If it were humans, they’d surely use baskets to lower soldiers to collect spoils; Beamon’s courage was indeed overwhelming.

Sorrowful horns blared, indicating chaos in the Mulan military camp. Many cavalry mounted their camels, and a squad of Phantom Beast Knights took to the sky, launching a fierce attack on Witherspoon.
