Chapter 1938 - 625: Joy and Sorrow Twofold (Part 3)
Reappearing Dust, Petrification Mask, Mechanical Creatures...
"We’re rich!" The thief knelt in the water, laughing and crying as he gathered the treasures into his arms.
"Oh my god!" The Mage couldn’t even stand steadily, plopping down onto the wet ground, trembling all over as he held two copper foils, his eyes fixed intently on the cuneiform words, his body shaking uncontrollably as if having a stroke.
"This is the magic potion formula! I recognize all these words! Thank the Ice and Snow Goddess!" The Mage murmured with tears swelling in his eyes.
"A potion formula to replenish magic power? We’ve struck gold, really hit it big this time!" The thief gasped for breath, drawing his dagger to bleed his wrist, worried he might die from an overwhelming heart attack due to excitement.
"And this!" Master Anelka waved another copper foil carved with words in his hand, trying his best to take deep breaths to calm himself, but his efforts were in vain.
The three adventurers watched their Mage friend eagerly, waiting for him to reveal the mystery.
"This copper foil documents the formula for ’Danxue’, and I recognize all the words here!" The Mage laughed wildly, hugging the Tauren next to him and giving him two big smacks.
The thief and elf almost fainted.
"What is ’Danxue’?" The simple Buer Warrior, not being very cultured, couldn’t comprehend the name.
"The so-called ’Danxue’ is the black powder that Goblin the great sage researched back then, the magical powder that can break rocks and mountains!" The thief covered his face, looking at the sky, ground, and Tauren comrade, letting out a long sigh: "Noveski, the strategic significance of ’Danxue’ to a nation is beyond words. Put it this way, if you translate this formula for your Beamon King, you’ll be bestowed the title of Duke for sure! You’ll enjoy prosperity and wealth for generations!"
"What, really?" The Buer Warrior shrugged, blowing his nose ring forcefully, nonchalantly saying, "Recently, I overheard Beamon mercenaries working in the Saint Francisco Empire say that Saint Francisco has already sent Silver Dwarves to our kingdom’s Green Jade territory, and those Silver Dwarves can make the ’Black Silver’ that can also break rocks. I’ve never heard our Beamon King giving the Silver Dwarves any Duke titles?"
"You’re so stubborn!" Master Anelka jumped three feet high from the ground, spitting as he admonished the obstinate Tauren: "I’ve just taken a rough glance, and Master Goblin’s ’Danxue’ uses only inexpensive minerals as raw materials. Do you know what raw materials the Silver Dwarves use for ’Black Silver’?"
"It’s silver!" The human thief eagerly took over the conversation: "Noveski, you big oaf!"
"It’s said the Silver Dwarves can only refine two drachmas of ’Black Silver’ from a pound of silver, about an eighth of an ounce; and a long-range cracking cannon made by Silver Dwarves requires at least a pound of ’Black Silver’ for a single shell, right?" The elf archer chuckled on the side: "Noveski, by that measure, a single ’Black Silver’ shell would cost seven hundred and sixty-eight pounds of silver to refine! Seven hundred and sixty-eight pounds of silver converts to two thousand and forty-eight silver coins, which is over two hundred gold louis. How long would those funds last your entire Beamon family?"
"That much money? Just for one shell?" The Tauren was dumbfounded: "Oh my, our village couldn’t save that much in ten years without eating or drinking!"
"Heh heh..." The Mage hung his head, scrutinizing the cuneiform on the copper foil carefully: "...Making a shell with ’Danxue’ would need minerals costing about... well... about forty silver coins, maybe even less!"
Master Anelka raised his head, asked the Tauren: "Noveski, speak with your conscience, compared to ’Black Silver’, which has better cost efficiency, ’Danxue’ or ’Black Silver’? If we presented ’Danxue’ to some nation, would we not gain enormous fame and profit?"
"Ha ha! If it weren’t so expensive, why would the Saint Francisco Empire send Silver Dwarves to you Beamons?" The human thief laughed, bending over: "Do you Beamons think we humans are fools? Would we give you a strategic troop for free?"
"Nonsense! Our Shaman of Divine Songs isn’t foolish; he possesses the Underground World with the Mercury River! Don’t bully me into thinking foolishly. The Fallen Elves have already spread the word; Lucian posts announcements everywhere, urging our mercenaries to venture into the Gang Wind Trench to strike it rich, and there’s a detailed introduction on this matter!" The stubborn Buer Warrior sneered disdainfully: "Only you humans are so smart!"
"My good fellow, refining ’Black Silver’ by the Silver Dwarves, like Hobbits cooking, depends on the ingredients! Anything in this world depends on raw materials. How do mercury and silver compare? They’re worlds apart!" The Mage waved his hand, helplessly looking at the unreasonable Beamon brute: "Unfortunately, Noveski, if your Shaman of Divine Songs had a Mercury River, the entire Aegean Continent would belong to him alone..."
"Master Anelka, you’re mistaken!" The human thief couldn’t help but speak sarcastically: "More than just the Mercury River? Noveski keeps boasting how mighty their Shaman of Divine Songs is. I figure, that shaman-combined-with-Saint-Xiao could refine ’Black Silver’ with Mithril, and it would undoubtedly have immense power!"
