Chapter 177 - Banquet Ends

Han Qingshan paused for a moment before he nodded his head. Although he was angry, he was not unreasonable. If the Dong family had a way to appease his anger, he would give them the chance to do so. If their attempt proved to be futile, he would take his revenge.

Jiang Yingyue was stunned when she saw how upset Han Qingshan was, and she leaned against his shoulder when they found somewhere to sit down. "I'm really okay," she said with a slight smile on her face. "It was slightly painful, but I've experienced worse."

Han Qingshan's eyes were overflowing with tenderness as he looked at her. He felt indignant and annoyed with the Dong family, but he also knew that if he genuinely acted against them, others would scold Jiang Yingyue for being too overbearing, abusing Han Qingshan's power for her own use.

What Han Qingshan could think of, obviously Jiang Yingyue was aware of as well, and she said nothing, neither did she feel that it was particularly upsetting. She felt relieved that Yu Xiulan was out of the picture, but she was slightly nervous about what might happen to Imperial World now that their main actress was involved in a drug scandal.

But looking at Han Qingshan, he seemed to be fully prepared for it. When he had made the call, Song Liwei was already aware of the problem that Imperial World would face, and he had started taking measures against it.

While Han Qingshan and Jiang Yingyue were sitting and resting at the banquet, Song Liwei had already started writing up a statement for Imperial World.

This statement was sent to the public relations department after he finished writing it, and they read it through, slightly altered it, and moments after it was posted on Imperial World's Weibo.

The statement was very blunt. It revealed that the police currently detained Yu Xiulan on the charges of being involved in a drug case. They quickly apologized for their artist's behavior and expressed shock and sincere regret. They also said that this artist had acted against everything they approved of and that they would terminate her contract with them in the future. Most shocking was that they released proof that the actress had tried to drug another person of their own company and that this was the reason for their ruthless behavior.

One might have thought that Imperial World was just trying to cut their losses short, but after realizing that the drugging incident had targeted another member of Imperial World, it seemed that they had sided with the victim and acted with proper behavior.

One had to admit that Song Liwei and the public relations department of Imperial World were extremely competent and very skilled at turning the public's opinion around.

All of this happened without Jiang Yingyue knowing anything about it. She had stood by Han Qingshan's side the rest of the evening, a slight smile on her face as she greeted various members of the society.

Many of them had at first been sure that she was merely a plaything for Han Qingshan, but after experiencing the night's events unfolding, they all realized that this woman might just be their ticket to working with Han Qingshan. If they could convince her to do some pillow talk for them, would their business not manage to become amazing?

Jiang Yingyue saw the greed in these people's eyes when they looked at her, and she instantly guessed that they were trying to use her to enhance their own businesses further, so although she was polite and acted perfectly, she did not warm up to any of them.

The banquet lasted all the way until midnight before people started leaving. The auction itself had been a massive success, so Sun Qingyuan was smiling from ear to ear, feeling extremely pleased. Yet when her eyes landed on Jiang Yingyue, she could not help but feel apologetic.

This woman had been insulted time and time again by other members at the banquet, yet she had not caused a ruckus even once. Even when her astoundingly beautiful diamond-studded stilettos had been destroyed, her only reaction was a slight smile.

For someone to be able to handle herself with such calmness, Sun Qingyuan was astounded and felt that she was indeed a woman worth knowing.

Just as they were about to leave, Sun Qingyuan handed her business card over to Jiang Yingyue. "Give me a call if you ever feel like chatting," she said with a smile on her face, "I am aware that I am a few years older than you, but I feel that you are a person who is enjoyable to talk with. If you do not mind, then I would like to be your friend."

"Please," Jiang Yingyue returned her smile while putting the business card away, nodding her head, "I already consider you as my friend."

Sun Qingyuan nodded her head, her eyes shining with happiness. "Make sure to call me," she reminded her, "we can go out for some coffee or a cake."

Jiang Yingyue nodded her head, and the two of them shook their hands before Han Qingshan finally dragged Jiang Yingyue out to the Rolls-Royce that was waiting for them outside, ready to take them back to the condo.

Han Qingshan was feeling tipsy. He had been toasted to by every single person at the banquet, men and women alike. Some of them had even chatted with him for a more extended period of time, and then he was forced to drink with them.

Now that he was seated in the car, he finally felt some calmness return to him, and he closed his eyes.

"Come here," Jiang Yingyue said as she patted her lap. "If you are tired, take a nap," she added, her voice soft and sweet.. "You have been busy all day, and you must be exhausted now. It is around half an hour till we get home, so why don't you take a short nap?"
