Chapter 165 - Imperial Ming Wase
Chapter 165 - Imperial Ming Wase
"You must make sure to spend a lot of money here," Miss Gou said to Jiang Yingyue, a sinister smile playing on her lips.
"I heard you came from an impoverished background, so it is only natural that since you now have the ability, you should definitely display your newfound riches."
Miss Gou's voice was not low, and both those who were seated at the sides and those behind heard her.
Some frowned when they listened to the condescending tone of her voice, but most just snickered. They were curious as to how Jiang Yingyue would reply to such an infuriating woman.
"I am indeed not rich," Jiang Yingyue said casually while looking at the stage, as if it was fascinating, and that Miss Gou was unimportant.
"But although I do not have money, I am here to broaden my horizons. Even if I do not have the money needed to bid on these items, being here can make me understand Han Qingshan's world and make me more aware of what is expected from his girlfriend.
"Of course it is important to bid on items and donate money, but frankly, that is not my task, that is my partner's responsibility, while all I need to do is start to understand his world."
The words were spoken softly and gently, but there was a hidden meaning within every word and a conviction that could not be questioned.
Everyone who listened was stunned, and then they had to agree with her words. Jiang Yingyue was not a rich young lady. She was new to this whole thing. So for her, this was not a place to show off her riches or anything like that, but a place to understand and see the world that Han Qingshan was a part of.
And after considering it, she was the female companion of Han Qingshan. Should she really need to show off her value? She was sitting next to a man who was worth more money than anyone else present.
Miss Gou's face alternated between pale and red. She was feeling incredibly embarrassed and insulted when she saw the casual demeanor of Jiang Yingyue, and even more so when she heard the words that came out of her mouth.
But she was not willing to give up just like that. "Oh yes, you are not a rich young miss," she continued, clearly looking for more trouble. "Have you not heard that one should stick to one's own class? You are clearly a complete novice, do you even know what brand you are currently wearing? Do you know how much your outfit is worth? Have you ever dressed this magnificently before?"
The words were completely ruthless and tried to tear open Jiang Yingyue's face, but Jiang Yingyue just glanced at the miss by her side and chuckled slightly.
"Of course I know where the clothes I am wearing are from," she chuckled. "My mother-in-law personally made them for me, so it is obvious that I know their origin.
"Not to mention the jewelry and accessories, I personally picked them out together with my dear mother-in-law. If I did not know about fashion, how could I possibly pick this?"
Although the two of them were speaking, the host was utterly professional. She ignored them and continued the auction, and only the first couple of rows could hear the disagreement between Jiang Yingyue and Miss Gou.
Miss Gou was about to speak again when Zhou Yan placed a hand on her arm. "Shut up."
His voice was dangerously low, and a cold flash appeared in his eyes. He was not pleased with what Miss Gou was doing. He was even less happy with her trying to pick a fight with Jiang Yingyue, after hearing that she was his childhood friend, and even less pleased with her intention of insulting her.
Miss Gou was stunned when she heard the words of Zhou Yan, and she was about to retort when she saw the dangerous gleam in his eyes and the tightly drawn lips.
She quickly understood that this was not the time to joke around, and she could only snort and turn her focus back on the stage, attempting not to pay attention to Jiang Yingyue.
Item after item was presented on stage, and they were sold for many millions each.
Han Qingshan was bored as he bid on random items and purchased a few gadgets.
"If you see anything you want, make sure to tell me," Han Qingshan said generously to Jiang Yingyue with a pampering smile.
Jiang Yingyue smiled back, but she did not answer. She was not very materialistic, and the things that were shown were simply so expensive that she could not want them even if they grabbed her attention.
The next item was taken onto the stage, and Jiang Yingyue's eyes lit up with interest. It was a beautiful imperial Ming vase, clearly an antique treasure.
This vase was a floor vase, it was a full fifty centimeters tall, and had a beautiful phoenix drawn upon it.
Jiang Yingyue felt a connection with this item, but she also knew it would not be cheap, so although she liked it, she was not going to tell Han Qingshan. She was not going to make him waste money.
Unfortunately for Jiang Yingyue, Han Qingshan had kept his eyes on her all the time, and he saw the sparkle in her eyes.. A smile tugged on his lips, and his eyes were filled with unprecedented affection.
