Chapter 46
Probably Just an Illusion
"Ring ring ring!~"
Mm...
"Ring ring ring~!"
Ah...
"Ring ring ring~!"
Amid the harsh and noisy sound, Zhang Qiming slowly raised his hand and turned off the alarm on his phone.
Closing his eyes again, just as he was about to resume his connection to the Dreamland server, he suddenly remembered that he was no longer on vacation.
His heart tightened, and his brain, almost magically, cleared up a great deal.
So he pushed himself up with effort and sat upright.
The injuries on his body had mostly healed by now—at least they no longer made him grimace in pain at the slightest touch.
He glanced at the small electronic display on the bedside clock. Seeing "Thur.", he knew that, though a bit unwilling and regretful, his vacation had already ended as of yesterday.
Grudgingly, he grabbed the long-sleeve shirt tossed on the bed and pulled it over his head. Scratching the back of his head, he yawned, then reached for the cup on his bedside table, planning to take a sip of water.
That was always the first thing he did upon waking up.
Unexpectedly, the light feel in his hand as he picked up the cup told him one thing—it was empty.
.
Strange.
He stared at the bottom of the empty cup, feeling puzzled.
Usually, before going to bed, he would fill it up over halfway and leave it on the nightstand. That way, whether he wanted a sip before sleeping or after waking up, he wouldn't be troubled by the absence of water at hand.
Did he forget to fill it last night?
After all, he had just parted ways with an incredible girl yesterday, and even lying in bed, he’d been too excited to fall asleep.
Hey, a pretty girl cooking for you—now that’s not something just anyone gets to experience.
—But he clearly remembered taking a sip of water before falling asleep last night.
He frowned and yawned again, unable to stop himself.
It was just like this: when he was already sleepy, he had habitually and subconsciously grabbed the cup, taken a small sip to moisten his throat, and put it back in place.
Could it be that he finished the water?
That couldn’t be, shouldn’t be.
Zhang Qiming thought about it, but still couldn’t figure out the mystery.
Ah, what am I doing wasting time on this…
Glancing at the clock, he realized he didn’t have much time left.
So he quickly grabbed the cup, slipped into his slippers, and stepped out of the bedroom.
.
In any case, this kind of memory gap around bedtime or waking up was pretty common—not really something worth getting caught up in. He decided not to dwell on something so meaningless.
Ah... how he wished he was still on vacation.
As he drank the freshly filled water, he couldn’t help but think.
