Chapter 223: Departure
Chapter 223: Departure
It was foggy outside. The windows were shrouded in a thick layer of mist. There was no need for curtains because of it.
"..."
Aizen was sitting in his small study.
It was hard for him to tell whether it was day or night because of the thick fog, but it was always foggy during this time of the year.
It gave a certain type of ambiance to the mansion, which he found pleasing, and he enjoyed the solitude it brought.
Knock~ Knock~
"Come in."
Aizen said.
He didn’t sound happy. Well, he rarely sounded happy.
The door opened, and then, Anna entered the study, looking like a slob, with her hair all over the place.
She was red-eyed as if she’d been crying.
"What a mess."
Aizen said angrily.
He hated the fact that Anna could actually be a really powerful head of the family because of her ruthless nature.
However.
He couldn’t trust her because of her mental issues and the lack of control of her own emotions that always made her very unstable.
"...You called for me, Father?"
Anna asked with an emotionless gaze.
She was in the middle of crying in her room, so she was quite pissed that he had interrupted her breakdown.
"You sure have a mess. Your death has troubling consequences."
Aizen said with a pissed-off look.
While his real business was here, in the real world, there was also some good business going on inside the tower.
Especially on the 27th floor.
The operation that Anna’s guild had over there was making some good money, and without her, they were in danger of losing it all.
"...I am sorry, Father."
Anna said.
It was unsure whether her apology was genuine or whether she just said the words that she believed her father wanted to hear.
"...Who will be leading the guild in the meantime?"
Aizen asked.
"Nick, I believe."
Anna said.
She hadn’t talked to anyone in the guild, even though they had been spamming her with calls and messages.
But since Nick was the Vice Guild Master, she believed that he was going to handle everything until she was back.
"Nick... He is from the Ace Family, is he not? Do you trust him? This could be a good opportunity for the Ace Family to seize our operations!"
Aizen asked.
"...Yeah, I trust him."
Anna said.
She lied. She didn’t trust any of them.
"Just to be sure, I’ll send Raikou to oversee your guild’s operations. We can’t afford to take any risks."
Aizen said.
Anna didn’t answer. She didn’t really care what they were doing. She just wanted to be left alone for now.
"Raon will return home shortly. We’ll have a welcoming banquet for him. I need you to behave when he arrives."
Aizen said.
"...Whatever."
Anna looked away and mumbled.
BANG!
"And I swear, if you cause a scene!"
Aizen slammed his fist on the expensive-looking wood table, and Anna turned her gaze back to him and just nodded.
"I’ll behave."
She said.
It was really hard to tell whether she meant it or not.
"Hmph, get out of my sight. And you better make a new character and start climbing the tower again. That’s your only worth in this value, after all."
Aizen said coldly.
Anna nodded and left the study.
...
Megaworld, 18th floor, Fang Raon’s apartment.
"...And done."
With a heavy sigh, Fang Raon finished packing up the Virtual Reality Pod in a box, and he slumped back to the couch.
He was done packing everything.
’...They should arrive here shortly.’
He thought as he checked the time on his wristwatch, and his already ugly-looking apartment looked very abandoned now.
He had mixed feelings.
On the other hand, he really didn’t mind leaving this shitty apartment, as it smelled like shit and mold.
But on the other hand, he never really wanted to leave Megaworld, especially now since he now had Chaewon.
Fang Village was a nice place. Especially the Fang Mansion. His room over there always felt big and cozy.
This was his first time that he was going to see all of them with his own eyes, as last time he was over there, he was still blind.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
The whole apartment almost shook.
Heavy knocking came from the door. It was as if someone tried punching a hole through the door.
’It must be them.’
Fang Raon thought.
But since he had now made some enemies, he carefully approached the door and took a peek through the peephole.
There were three black-suited men standing outside.
’It’s them.’
Fang Raon opened the door and stared directly into the sunglasses of the bodyguards.
"...Young master, we are here to pick you up."
The bodyguard at the front said.
"Yeah..."
Fang Raon let them inside, and the bodyguards looked around the room and were surprised.
They never thought that the young master of the Fang Family would be living in such a shithole residence.
They saw the packages.
One of the bodyguards single-handedly lifted the heavy-looking Virtual Reality Pod package. The other bodyguards took everything else.
They then left the apartment but then stopped outside and waited for Fang Raon to follow behind them.
"..."
Fang Raon took one last look at the ugly apartment, and as he stepped outside, he turned off the lights one more time.
’Goodbye...’
He closed the door.
...
One of the bodyguards popped open the trunk and carefully placed the packages inside—including the Virtual Reality Pod.
There was a lot of space in the trunk.
’A hover mobile.’
Fang Raon thought as he looked at the vehicle that the bodyguards came to the Megaworld with.
It was a hover mobile. Shaped like a car but without wheels, it was instead hovering a few meters above the ground.
While the hover mobiles weren’t in widespread circulation yet, there were more and more of them roaming around the world every year.
"Young master."
The bodyguard opened the door to the hover mobile and gestured for him to enter—he climbed inside and settled into the plush leather seat.
The rest of the bodyguards also entered the hover mobile, and with one turn of the key, the engine roared to life.
"I’d suggest strapping up with a seatbelt. We will take flight."
The driver warned him.
With a nod, Fang Raon quickly strapped in with a seatbelt, just like the rest of the bodyguards, and then, the driver slammed on the accelerator.
The hover mobile took flight, leaving the ground with a sudden burst of speed, and the Megaworld soon became nothing but a small speck in the distance.
