Chapter 219: Secret Child
Chapter 219: Secret Child
"I-Impossible!"
Tristan exclaimed, and his crooked glasses slipped from one of his ears and hung precariously on the edge of his nose.
"The winner is Fang Anna!"
The commentator announced.
With a smile on her pretty face, Anna stood up from the table and waved to the crowd with a satisfied look.
Her match ended, and in the end, the match really wasn’t even close even though the match started slow.
It only started slow because Anna wanted to see how Raon’s match would go.
"..."
Fang Raon watched his sister celebrate, and then he heard the announcer announce that the grand finals would happen in one hour’s time.
’I have an hour. I’ll just go for a walk.’
He left the tournament hall, and while he was walking, there were some people that kept looking at him.
After all, he was one of the finalists, so he garnered some attention, and few of them wanted to even talk to him.
However.
Fang Raon picked up his pace to leave the hall undisturbed and thought about just taking a walk around the village.
"Brother, wait!"
In that moment, Anna’s voice sounded in his ears as she ran after him, and she quickly caught up to him.
"What do you want?"
Fang Raon asked.
It might sound rude to some people to just say, "What do you want?" immediately, but he knew that Anna didn’t just chase after him for no reason.
It was always impossible for him to guess what she would want, and thus, he became quite worried.
"In our match, I will not use Read."
Anna said with a smile.
"Why?"
Fang Raon asked with a frown.
"I want to have a fair match with you. It wouldn’t be fun to win with Read. I want to truly test my skills against yours."
Anna said.
"...Read is part of your skill. I don’t really care if you use it. Remu also used it, and I still won against him."
Fang Raon said.
"Sorry, but Remu’s Read was weak. Mine is stronger. And I won’t waste my mental energy so foolishly like he did."
Anna said.
"...How often have you been going into my head?"
Fang Raon asked curiously.
After finding out about Read, he realized that she might’ve been using Read on him all this time without noticing it.
It caused a chill to run down his spine.
"When you were still living with us, I didn’t know Read. None of us did. When I met you in the Caretaker Facility, I knew of Read.
"However.
"Even though I am really curious about your thoughts... I’ve never pried into your mind. I like the unknown factor of our relationship."
Anna said with a chilly smile.
"Is there a way to shield one’s mind?"
Fang Raon asked.
If there was a way, he would love to know how, as he hated whenever someone got into his mind. It was a really uncomfortable feeling.
"Yes. High-level Read users know how. In my previous match, Tristan knew of Read, but I had a higher level of Read, so I was able to shield my mind from him.
"However, he couldn’t shield it from me."
Anna said.
"So, it depends on who has stronger Read?"
Fang Raon asked.
"Yep!"
Anna said with a smile.
She liked this conversation with her brother, as it was finally a genuine conversation between brother and sister.
Their previous conversations have pretty much been just arguing, which she really didn’t like.
"Mother also knows that you’re coming back. So does the rest of the village as well. There will be a party for your return."
Anna said with a smile.
"...Is that necessary?"
Fang Raon asked with a frown.
"I know in the last conversation I said that our father’s intention is a complete mystery, but it does seem like he is trying to welcome you as the new heir.
"Nobody else would be getting this kind of treatment."
Anna said.
"..."
Fang Raon didn’t respond to that, as he wasn’t foolish enough to believe every word that his father had said.
Perhaps he was trying to make him into a new head of the family, but he highly doubted that was all.
There must be something else that his father was after.
"I’ll see you back in the hall, sister. I won’t go easy on you."
He said coldly and walked away.
Stopping in her tracks, Anna watched as her brother walked away, and she giggled with a smile.
"Good~ Go hard on me."
...
Ymir’s Forest, Killua Temple.
Under the shade of the altar, Aizen sat cross-legged on the steps of the altar, surrounded by ancient ruins.
He had his sword cane leaning against his leg, and there was a holographic screen hovering right in front of him.
It was showing the tournament hall venue, where his son and daughter just won their matches and would meet in the final.
It was possible to transfer video feed with the help of Video Slug, and there was one in the tournament hall.
So, there was a possibility of spectating the tournament from elsewhere, even from a completely different floor.
"They are here."
A bodyguard said to his ear, and then disappeared back to the shadows.
Aizen waved his hand, made the screen disappear, and saw an entourage of people walk down the temple’s grounds towards him.
Tap, tap~ tap, tap~ tap, tap~
Ahead of everyone was a tall man with silver hair and a scarred face. The scars were going his eyes and down his neck.
Because of the scars over his eyes, he seemed to be blind, but he moved with an air of confidence and purpose that belied his disability.
"Nero."
Aizen bowed his head slightly.
Even though he was blind, Aizen believed that he could still see the bow even without his eyes.
It was because this old man in front of him was one of the Grandmasters of Read, trained to such an extent that he could see even without his eyes.
"Aizen. What a dangerous place you’ve invited me to. The temple of the death. Death here means eternal death."
Nero said coldly.
With his Read, he was able to sense the bodyguards hiding in the trees and was even able to sense Raizen hiding nearby.
"You should know that you cannot hide anything from me. Can your son and those bodyguards of yours come from hiding?"
He asked.
"Hmph, sure."
Aizen waved his hand.
The bodyguards appeared instantly near Aizen, as if they had just taken off their invisibility cloaks, and Raizen just walked over from where he was hiding.
’Fang Raizen...’
Neuro thought with a cold look on his gray eyes.
He was one of Nero’s grandchildren, and perhaps the strongest one as well, and he knew of Raizen’s reputation.
It had always been his wish to try his strength against one of the Dead Redemption.
"Why have you invited me here? I don’t appreciate forcing me to go all the way to this dangerous place. I have a feeling that you have ill intentions to want me to come here."
Nero sat down and asked.
Their family had a deep presence in Black Online, and it was easy for them to meet Aizen in this online world.
Since they lived in completely different regions in the real world, it was much easier to meet in Black Online.
"I only have three bodyguards and my son with me. You came with ten of yours, so I am more in trouble if you decide to attack me."
Aizen said.
"Stop with that nonsense. You have Raizen."
Nero said coldly.
In other words, he said, "It doesn’t matter how many we have since you have Raizen and that alone evens the odds."
"I like this place because it is remote and we won’t be disturbed here. I won’t do anything to you or your family. It’s not worth it to make an enemy out of your family."
Aizen said.
"...Well, what is it that you want?"
Nero asked.
"I’ve decided on my heir. I don’t think you’ve met him, but his name is Raon."
Aizen said.
"..."
Fang Raizen glanced at his father but then looked away, as he really didn’t care that he wasn’t the heir.
It was never his desire to be the head of the Fang family, as he just wanted to spend all his time in Black Online.
The real world was way too dull for him, and especially being head of the family sounded like a complete pain.
However.
He believed that Raikou would be extremely pissed off if he found out.
"Never heard of this Raon. I suppose he is that secret fourth child of yours that you’ve been keeping secret from everyone."
Nero said.
However, he was surprised that Aizen was already handing away his position as the head of the family.
It wasn’t like he was that old. He could’ve been head of the family for another 20 years, at least.
Unless there was something else going on.
"There is a reason why I invited you to come all the way here for that. My son will be needing a wife, and I think one of your granddaughters would do just fine."
Aizen said.
"...Arranged marriage? In this day and age? I am not completely against it, but why? What is it that you want from our family?"
Nero asked.
"Yes, there is something..."
Aizen leaned close and whispered directy into Nero’s ears, and his blind scarred eyes were slowly widening.
