Chapter 376: Can I love you my way?
Chapter 376: Can I love you my way?
He was the first father Lyeian ever had. The first person who actually cared about him. The first person who made him feel at home.
That was something he could never take away from their story, no matter how much he hated him. And that was probably the reason he found himself in tears.
"He was a good person," Eden said. "A good person who was a victim of fate. A victim of the world. And no matter how hard he tried to be a good person and a good father, those two things didn’t seem to want to coexist."
Eden smiled as he stared at Felix. "Do you know the last words he said to me before he left?"
Felix stared at him. "What do you mean...?"
Eden smiled. "He came to me in my dreams. He spent those last lingering moments with me. I didn’t understand why he was there. I was in this illusion and didn’t understand—until he left."
Eden stared at the jar with a smile as he said, "He couldn’t stop talking about you. Even when he was supposed to apologize to me... he still found a way to talk about you."
Eden smiled. "He recounted how cute you were when you were a kid. How fragile you were—that he was scared he would drop you. He expressed how worried he was when he learned he might lose you. He couldn’t stop talking about you at every stage of your life. Even though he was never there for you all those years... he spoke as though he had witnessed all of it with you."
"And before he left, he said: If there is a next life, he’d like to be your father again. He hopes you’d also agree. So he can take good care of you this time. He promises to give you the best childhood this time around—the best he could never give you."
Eden smiled as he looked at Felix. "Mr. Albert’s personality could be questioned in every possible way. But if there’s one thing that can never be questioned, it’s his love for you."
Eden saw Felix’s eyes getting wet. And soon, tears rolled down those eyes.
Eden smiled. "You can cry. It’s okay to cry. You need to let it out."
And so the two of them sat there while Felix spent a good amount of time crying it all out while Eden listened.
In his next life, Felix too realized that he wanted to be his son. He wanted to spend the most normal moments with him. He wanted to experience the most common experiences with him. He wanted to be the ordinary father and son he always saw at the marketplace.
The two drowned themselves in the silence. And strangely, the silence did enough of the talking that Felix needed.
After a long time, Felix said, "Can I still love you...?"
Eden stared at him. "Huh?"
Felix smiled as he said while staring at the jar, "I want to like you. I want to keep liking you. I want to get married to you and be with you together. I want to raise our kids together. I want to be with you until the moment I close my eyes. I..."
Felix cleared his throat as he looked at Eden. "But I’m scared. Eden, I’m scared..."
Eden said nothing. He sat there staring at Felix. Their eyes met but refused to do the mutual speaking they needed to understand each other in that moment.
They let the silence linger for a moment before Eden smiled. "Then love me," he said. "Love me with everything in you. Love me until the earth breaks in two. Love me until we’re sick and tired of each other. Love me until the end."
And suddenly, it was as though their eyes spoke the same language.
Felix let out a soft smile as he nodded. "Sure. I’ll love you. I’ll show you how much I love you."
But certainly, Felix’s eyes spoke those words in a different font.
Because the next day, Felix suddenly disappeared.
No one saw him, and no one knew where he went. It was as though he had vanished from the face of the earth, because no one could tell where he could have possibly gone.
He loved Eden. And he loved him enough to leave him.

The news had already long reached the palace.
Kyle had already learned about Eden taking down the men he sent. Eden had sent him a man to inform him of his loss.
Kyle wasn’t so bothered. He could already see that coming. And at least he had used that opportunity to get them all in one spot. Now he knew where they were.
Kyle’s next step was to lure them all into one place—the palace.
And he already found the perfect plan to get this done. He had ordered his men to bring back the Empress.
He had sent the Empress off a long time ago. And now he supposed it was time to bring her back and make good use of her.
She had become useful to him. And the guards had set off to retrieve her.
That night, Kyle sat down on his throne alone in the dim room. He stared into thin air with a cold expression. His fists were clenched, and his jaws tightened.
"How dare you die that easily...?" He muttered to himself in the dark.
He could tell. He could feel it—Mr. Albert dying. And he wasn’t happy about that one bit.
He didn’t want him to die that easily and effortlessly, especially after what he had put him through. He wanted to kill him himself and put him through the worst torture possible.
But now he was gone just like that. And Kyle didn’t know how to feel about it.
He sat there in the dark as he burst into an eerie laughter that soon filled the entire hall. And soon, Kyle muttered to himself, "Since you want to bring everything to an end, I’ll gladly help you by destroying all that you’ve been protecting." He smiled. "I’d like to see how you can be at ease in the afterlife then."
