Chapter 418 - 368: Downfall (1)
The next day, Yi Luowa brought Youyou to the estate. Knowing that Yi Luowa was coming home, Yi Weiyang intentionally took the day off and stayed at home to wait for her.As soon as they stepped out of the car, Youyou ran to the truck behind them to help the servants unload the goods.
Yi Luowa chuckled, "Youyou, there’s no need for you to do this stuff. Come inside with me."
Youyou picked the largest package she could carry and followed Yi Luowa into the house.
Huo Li watched her and laughed, "Youyou, have you been cooped up in the Duke’s mansion these past few days and gone stir-crazy? Now you’ve come here to be a laborer for us!"
Youyou pouted and set the bag down, "Hi, Huo Li Sis."
Yi Weiyang walked over with a smile, "Youyou is getting more and more well-behaved now!"
Youyou grinned at Yi Weiyang, "Hello, Second Uncle!"
"Come sit down." Yi Weiyang gestured toward the sofa with a smile.
Youyou glanced at Yi Luowa and saw her nodding in approval, then cheerfully followed behind Yi Weiyang to sit on the sofa.
Huo Li whispered to Yi Luowa, "Youyou has made quite a bit of progress recently."
"She understands everything, really, but sometimes her childish temper gets the better of her, and she stops caring about anything else."
The two chatted and laughed as they sat down together.
Before long, the servants carried in dozens of large packages.
Yi Weiyang asked suspiciously, "Luowa, what’s packed in all of these?"
"Things for the wedding."
Yi Weiyang’s face immediately darkened, "Huo Li and I are just having a small ceremony at the chapel; we don’t need all this! Isn’t this just wasting money?"
Huo Li chimed in from the side, "Exactly, I’ve already bought everything I need. What’s all this stuff for?"
"The house still needs a bit of organizing, doesn’t it? My Second Uncle should at least get a few new outfits, right?" Yi Luowa pouted, "Last time during your shopping trip, you didn’t buy anything for my Second Uncle."
"I’ve already tailored several suits for him." Huo Li grinned, "Don’t worry, I won’t let Yi Weiyang go without."
"You’re so hard to read." Yi Luowa playfully pinched her arm, "My mother-in-law picked out a bright red quilt for you guys—really gorgeous."
Huo Li smiled and said, "If your mother-in-law gave me a quilt, I must accept it, or else I’d crush her feelings."
"Have the invitations been sent out yet?" Yi Luowa pulled a package closer to her, "There are invitations here. I’ll write them in a bit."
"We can just notify people verbally when the time comes," Yi Weiyang said, feeling a bit embarrassed at how much effort Luowa was putting into organizing everything. He couldn’t help but think, being this old and making things so grand—won’t people laugh at us?
"It’s once in a lifetime; don’t just settle. Oh, right—Second Uncle, Tong Airui asked where the wedding banquet is going to be held. If it’s not at the estate, he’ll reserve a floor at the Audrich Building restaurant."
"Let’s host it at the estate. It’s closer to the chapel anyway," Yi Weiyang replied with a smile. "You don’t need to worry about it; the wedding planner has already arranged everything—they can handle it all for us."
"Alright, that works. I’m leaving for Country S in two days, but I’ll stay put for now and help Aunt Li tidy the house."
Huo Li teased, "You stay here, but is Tong fine with that?"
"Just like always—he talks his talk, I do my thing. The instances where he actually agrees with me are rare. That day my mother-in-law said he’s always so busy with everything, and then my father-in-law added, ’Just like his dad!’ My mother-in-law immediately shot back, ’Like his own dad.’"
"Haha... I thought they didn’t bicker like that!" Huo Li laughed hysterically, leaning against Yi Luowa.
Youyou looked at Huo Li, puzzled, "What’s so funny about that?"
"She laughs at the smallest things; just ignore her," Yi Luowa laughed. "If you’re bored, you can go to the backyard with Kou’er and check out the animals."
"I’m going then. If I stay here too long, I might catch Huo Li’s silliness," Youyou pouted before walking out.
"That rascal! She says she’s afraid of catching my silliness, but I’m worried she might rub her absurdity off on me!" Huo Li laughed as she called over a clever-looking servant to accompany Youyou and Kou’er.
Yi Luowa brought Aunt Li over to organize and categorize the packages. After lunch, she teamed up with Aunt Li, Huo Li, and the servants to start tidying up the wedding suite.
Yi Weiyang smiled warmly, feeling gratified. Luowa had really grown up—she was now capable of taking charge of things for him.
A little past four, Tong Airui’s call came in.
"I’ll come over a bit later."
Yi Luowa burst into laughter, "I thought you were going to ask me to come home!"
Tong Airui chuckled, "When do you ever listen to what I say? Besides, it’s rare for you to visit—stay a few more days. I’ll come over whenever I’m free."
"Husband, love you~"
Tong Airui laughed softly, "Wife, I saw a multifunctional crib online today..."
Before he could finish, Yi Luowa let out a laugh, "We don’t even have kids on the horizon yet—don’t you think this is a bit premature?"
