Chapter 395 - 347: I Have You, This Life Is Enough! (One More Update)
Everyone returned to their rooms, leaving Tong Airui pacing alone in the living room. This outcome was not what he wanted. His plan was that once he found Ni Lu’s daughter, his wife’s origins would naturally come to light too. But now, You knew nothing, and the one person who might have known her background—her master—was dead, leaving his wife’s origins shrouded in mystery once again.
If You finds her birth mother, his wife is bound to feel hurt...
"Honey, I brought Ni Lu’s hair."
Tong Airui turned to look at Yi Luowa, but for a moment, he didn’t know what to say to his wife.
Yi Luowa walked over with a smile, handing him three strands of hair. "I told Ni Lu I’d comb her hair just now. She didn’t think twice."
Tong Airui furrowed his brows slightly. "Honey, if You really is Aunt Ni Lu’s daughter..."
Yi Luowa playfully poked his nose. "What’s with that face? Isn’t it good that Aunt found her birth daughter?"
"But you..."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and smiled. "I have you. That’s more than enough in this lifetime!"
"Stop being so cheesy!" Mi Chenxuan dashed down laughing from upstairs.
"You were acting human earlier; now you’ve morphed into a monkey!" Yi Luowa joked.
Mi Chenxuan curled his lip. "I have to keep a straight face when I’m around You. Otherwise, she’s impossible to manage."
"Oh! The power of love is remarkable—it transformed a monkey into a man." Yi Luowa winked at Tong Airui. "Honey, don’t you think so?"
Tong Airui chuckled and rubbed her head.
"Fourth Brother, this is You’s hair." Mi Chenxuan handed a few strands of hair to Tong Airui. "I really hope You turns out to be Aunt Ni Lu’s child. That way, you won’t need to rack your brain giving her a new identity."
"Did you tell You?" Tong Airui raised his eyebrow slightly.
Mi Chenxuan shook his head. "I didn’t tell her. I’m afraid she couldn’t take it. I’ll wait until we have results to say anything."
"You actually care about people now?" Tong Airui shot him a side-eyed glance.
Mi Chenxuan patted his chest smugly. "Not to brag, but among all of us, my emotional intelligence is the highest—I’m the best at understanding and comforting people."
Tong Airui looked at him with disdain, then called Yuan Hang over and handed him the strands of hair.
Once Yuan Hang left, Mi Chenxuan leaned in and whispered, "Fourth Brother, what’s going on with my brother and Joyina? Are they living together now?"
Tong Airui furrowed his brow. "Living together is hardly conclusive. I lived with your sister-in-law for several months, and nothing happened between us either."
Mi Chenxuan scoffed in contempt. "That’s because you’re incompetent!"
"Get lost already!" Tong Airui gave him a kick. "Be careful with You. Don’t stir up trouble. If she really is Aunt Ni Lu’s daughter, you won’t be able to explain yourself."
"I won’t compromise myself! These past days, we’ve been sleeping together every night. Without me, she simply can’t sleep." Mi Chenxuan laughed and darted upstairs.
Tong Airui froze for a moment, then hugged Yi Luowa. "That guy talks big. I don’t believe he’d dare do anything."
Yi Luowa burst into laughter. "Sister-in-law says all men are the same bad lot."
"No one’s man is worse than hers!" Tong Airui chuckled, pinching her nose. "I didn’t expect you to be so open-minded. If it were me, being given hope only to end up disappointed time and again would crush me."
Yi Luowa merely smiled. "You haven’t experienced it. Once you do, you’ll find you can accept anything that comes your way."
The two talked as they headed upstairs. Yi Luowa took another look at Ni Lu and saw she was sleeping soundly before returning to her own room.
The next morning, before Yi Luowa and Tong Airui even got up, the doorbell rang.
Tong Airui glanced at the time. "It’s only six o’clock. Can’t people let us live in peace?"
Yi Luowa grumbled, turned over, and tried to go back to sleep. The two had spent the night talking under the covers until late hours, leaving her exhausted.
Tong Airui grabbed his robe and got out of bed.
As soon as he opened the door, You poked her head in. "Is Mi Chenxuan here?"
Tong Airui frowned and snapped, "He’s not here! Go back to your room and stop knocking on doors randomly."
You pouted. "He was here when I fell asleep, but now he’s gone. Help me find him, or I’ll knock on everyone’s door."
"If you dare knock on doors, I’ll chop off your paws!"
"If you chop off my hand, I’ll kill your wife!"
The vein on Tong Airui’s forehead throbbed with anger. "You, if you threaten me one more time with that line, I swear I’ll ruin you! And let me warn you, if you really want to be with Mi Chenxuan, you’d better behave. Stop spouting nonsense about killing and burning things, or you’ll end up dumped!"
You instantly deflated and quietly shut Tong Airui’s door for him. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ NoveI-Fire.ɴet
Tong Airui stormed back to bed, still furious.
"What’s Old Eight doing up this early?" Yi Luowa muttered sleepily.
