Chapter 1399 - 1439: Daddy, Were You Just Thinking About Mommy?
Jun Moyan still did not respond to Shangguan Yu.
He had said everything there was to say. Seeing Jun Moyan was in a bad mood, Shangguan Yu didn’t want to press him further; anyway, as long as the little one was alright, it was fine.
At dinner time, the little one woke up. Jun Moyan sat by the bed, his eyes watching him but his mind lost somewhere, failing to notice when the little one opened his eyes and woke up, still with blank eyes and brain.
By now, the sky was already half-dark. Jun Moyan didn’t turn on the lights, fearing to disturb the little one’s sleep, leaving the room somewhat dim.
The little one looked at Jun Moyan quietly sitting by the bed at first without realizing he was absent-minded. The room was somewhat dark, and Jun Moyan’s figure blended with the shadows, making it hard to see clearly.
The little one watched for quite a while before noticing Jun Moyan’s open eyes were on him, finally realizing he was in a daze.
He watched Jun Moyan for quite a while, yet Jun Moyan didn’t notice he was awake, remaining lost in thought and dazed.
The little one disliked seeing Jun Moyan like this, Jun Moyan’s quiet demeanor, being unseen, and this pitch-black room seemed to fill everything with sadness.
The little one really disliked it.
He called out to Jun Moyan: "Daddy."
Jun Moyan suddenly snapped back to reality, with spirit returning to his eyes.
"You’re awake." Jun Moyan looked at him and then lifted a hand to switch on the room’s light.
The sudden brightness made the little one’s eyes slightly uncomfortable; he rubbed them, then climbed out of bed.
The little one sat on the bed looking at Jun Moyan, still seemingly half-awake and appearing listless.
Jun Moyan extended his hand to him, and the little one stood up and walked to his side.
Jun Moyan held his tiny hand in his palm, gently rubbing it, as he asked, "Does it still hurt anywhere?"
The little one shook his head. He gazed at Jun Moyan, recalling his earlier absent-minded state, his glance flickered, his small mouth slightly moved, and then, somewhat afraid, softly asked Jun Moyan:
"Daddy, were you thinking about Mommy just now?"
Jun Moyan’s expression slightly tense, the motion of rubbing the little hand stopped. He looked at the little one and saw the nervousness, anticipation, and cautiousness in his eyes.
An’an truly was a child who was so understanding it hurt and made him feel guilty.
He was just three years old, yet he had many things and words still unclear but faced him with caution, considering his feelings, even knowing how to read his expressions before acting.
Clearly understanding the debt to the child, but the heart-dead Jun Moyan felt utterly helpless; he couldn’t even take care of himself, unsure of how long it had been since he last smiled.
"An’an, are you hungry?" he asked.
Jun Moyan avoided the topic. The little one felt completely disappointed but dared not show it; he simply nodded obediently.
"Daddy will take you to eat." Jun Moyan placed him on the bed and then picked up the shoes on the floor, helping him to put them on.
He lifted the little one and left the room, going downstairs.
The food wasn’t ready yet. Jun Moyan sat with the little one on the sofa in the hall, pouring the little one a glass of water, letting him drink, then lifting the little one’s sleeve to check the bruises from his bumps.
"Where’s Shangguan?" Jun Moyan casually asked Qing Yi as he walked in.
Shangguan Yu hadn’t returned to the unit and stayed here saying he would wait for the little one to wake up; he was here until ten or so minutes ago, went out to take a call, and just hasn’t returned.
Perhaps something urgent called him away.
