Chapter 302: Gathering Of Traitors 1
Chapter 302: Gathering Of Traitors 1
The waiter stuck out his chest. "Because the shopkeeper is my uncle!"
Sharky was about to ask another question, but a familiar voice spoke up nearby. "You are still alive."
Hearing this voice, Sharky was shocked, who the other person was.
He turned around. He saw a charming and graceful young lady standing by the entrance. She had a golden veil over her face, decorated with agates and rubies. It made her look glamorous and mysterious.
Even though there was a veil covering her face, he could still see that her face was beautiful.
Underneath her simple and elegant brows was a pair of lovely misty eyes. Those who saw them couldn’t help but want to protect her. There seemed to be a faint smile resting on her lips. Those lips were soft and moist, as if they had been blessed by the sparkling dew of dawn, making all who saw them feel their throats go dry.
"Snow," Sharky murmured in a surprised tone, never ever thought of Snow appearing here.
After their separation the previous time in Royal City, he had thought it would be a long time before they would meet again.
Hearing him calling her Snow, the tears started appearing from Crystal’s eyes.
Soon, she hugged him, and started crying.
"Calm down, Snow, calm down, why are you crying?" Sharky rubbed her back, while trying to calm her down.
But she didn’t stop crying.
"You are still alive, sob, sob, I thought, sob, you were dead, sob."
"It’s okay Snow, it’s okay, I am from Phoenix clan, even after dying, I can get rebirth," Sharky was trying to pacify her.
After nearly two hours, she calmed down.
She was amazed knowing that Sharky can come back alive from death. The Phoenix clan abilities are a really immortal technique.
She also understands why the Emperor was behind this technique.
"So Snow, how do you recognise me, because my face, my height, my powers, everything was different."
Sharky asked her, because he was still confused, how she could recognise him.
"Because, you have the same soul. The technique I cultivate, it will remove all the illusion and clearly recognise the person, who I mated with."
Crystal was proud about this.
Hearing her cultivation techniques, Sharky was really amazed, about the Heavenly Devil Technique.
"The Heavenly Devil Technique is our Holy Sect’s supreme art. It was the most amazing technique." Crystal was clearly satisfied with this.
"Yes, this is a really amazing technique," Sharky nodded. But he also started becoming worried.
That is if this technique can easily see his original soul, and Ultivalortrix was not able to hide this. Then, there will also be other person, who can find out about this. Moreover, even the Emperor will also find out about this.
He needs to prepare very fast.
"So, how do you come here?" Sharky asked her.
"It was because of the master-."
Before she completed her words, Sharky asked her, "Where is Daina? She is so ungrateful, after –"
Crystal jumped in fright. She quickly reached out her hand and covered his mouth, exclaiming, "Don’t talk nonsense! If the master heard what you said, she’d definitely give you a proper beating."
"I don’t think she’d do that." When he remembered all of the things that had happened between him and Diana back in the Imperial Palace, a gentle smile couldn’t help but appear on Sharky’s face.
"Huh?" Crystal was confused. She just felt that something wasn’t quite right.
Sharky coughed lightly out of awkwardness. He said, "Ahem, what I’m saying is that I’m her precious disciple’s lover, so why would she hit me?"
"Even if you were her disciple, wouldn’t she still discipline you properly? Let alone the fact that you’re just my lover," Crystal said. Despite her words, she was still extremely happy.
The two teased each other for a bit, but then Sharky suddenly remembered the matter, "Right, what you appeared here, you still didn’t tell me about this."
Crystal replied, "One of our elders was killed by a fiend race expert."
"Huh?" Sharky was somewhat shocked. He had never expected the fiend races and Devil Sect’s relationship to be bad. He asked, "What level of cultivation did your elder have?"
"Eighth rank, I reckon," Crystal said with a grave expression. "Most importantly, he died in a rather strange way. He was controlled by a fiend race individual’s evil method, then suddenly attacked his own companions in the sect. Fortunately, the sect master arrived promptly, or else our entire base might have been completely destroyed."
"Out of wrath, my master killed that elder. However, that elder woke back up moments before his death. Only then did my master realize that he was being controlled."
Sharky’s expression changed when he heard that. Why did the story sound so similar?
Wasn’t Brock also controlled by someone to kill Nick? He quickly asked, "Which fiend race individuals are that powerful?"
Crystal replied, "Master immediately traced their aura and fought a great battle with that fiend race cultivator. However, that fellow’s cultivation is extremely strange. Even though the master was able to injure him, he was still able to escape."
"Just how high would his cultivation need to be to escape from someone like your master?!" Sharky was really shocked.
Crystal said quietly, "My master was wounded by that dog emperor the last time we invaded the Imperial Palace. She hasn’t fully recovered since then. Furthermore, she fought against King Leon not too long ago, or else she wouldn’t have let that fiend race bastard escape. The reason I’m here is also because I’m trying to track him down."
"Oh, do you know any more details about that fiend race cultivator?" Sharky quickly asked.
Crystal nodded and said, "Master fought against him, and with her experience and methods, it wasn’t difficult to track down his identity at all. That guy’s name is Luke Vale. He’s one of the most powerful subordinates of the Peacock King. He excels in invading the target’s soul and controlling their body in battle."
"Luke Vale? Then do you know where Luke Vale is hiding?" Sharky urgently asked.
Crystal replied, "According to the most recent news, he seems to have appeared at the Daniel Merchant Group. However, I haven’t had time to investigate that yet."
"It’s the Daniel Merchant Group again?" Sharky exclaimed, his eyes widening.
Most of his subordinates’ investigation continuously pointed towards the Daniel Merchant Group, in the beginning he was still hesitant about this.
After all, someone from inside of this Merchant Group is Cedric’s lover. So, he didn’t want to trouble it.
But as the investigation continued, he saw more and more shades of the Daniel Merchant Group. Now, after learning that a fiend race expert might be hiding in the Daniel Merchant Group, he knew there was definitely something wrong with it. And now, he can’t ignore it.
"I’ll go with you and investigate the Daniel Merchant Group," Sharky said.
Crystal was happy but surprised. She asked, "Won’t this interfere with your affairs?"
Sharky shook his head and replied, "It’s fine. I just happen to have some things I need to investigate too."
Crystal leaned her head against his arm, saying with smiling eyes, "Sharky, you’re always so good to me."
Sharky patted her head. The two of them began to talk about their lives after they had separated. Soon after, they unknowingly entered the Daniel Merchant Group’s territory.
Many of the shops in Cloudcenter City belonged to the Daniel Merchant Group, so the area they occupied was extremely large.
But according to Crystal’s intelligence, Luke was likely hiding in the merchant group’s general headquarters. The two of them walked around the headquarters like two lovers on a stroll, while scouting out the state of the security and noting things like the shift changes.
---
The two of them waited until nighttime. Crystal wanted to go inside, but Sharky stopped her, saying, "Wait outside here. After all, Luke was even able to escape from your master, so his cultivation is quite high."
Crystal harrumphed, sounding clearly dissatisfied. She said, "For better or for worse, I am a proper Holy Sect Saintess. I have the ability to protect myself."
"Just do as I said," Sharky said seriously.
With Crystal’s talent and resources, one day, she could definitely become one of the world’s most powerful cultivators. However, at the moment, she was still too young. She had only cultivated for a decade or so of time. How could she compare to those old freaks who had cultivated for decades, or even more than a century?
"Okay," She nodded. "Alright then. I don’t want to hold you back inside. How about this? I’ll wait outside to help you later."
Sharky smiled and pinched her cheeks. He was just about to sneak in when Crystal suddenly grabbed him. In her hand was a lantern. She said, "Bring this with you. This thing is called the Little Empress Lantern. Once it’s lit, it can lock down everything within a radius of several meters. Of course, if the target’s cultivation is really high, it won’t be able to stop them, but it can at least slow their movements. You should keep this on you just in case."
She was about to explain how to use the Little Empress Lantern to Sharky, but he had already pushed it back into her hands. He said, "Don’t worry. This item won’t be of much help to me with my current cultivation. This is your trump card, so you should keep it with you to protect yourself."
When she heard the confidence in his voice and saw the calmness in his expression, Crystal smiled and didn’t persist with the matter. She said, "I forgot that your cultivation is already entirely different now. That’s fine too. You need to be careful."
After all, his current cultivation is Master Level.
Sharky nodded. He snuck right in as soon as the guards left.
"Why does a merchant group need to be so mysterious?" Sharky frowned. He felt more and more that there was something wrong with the Daniel Merchant Group. But entering inside was not so difficult for him.
Soon, he arrived inside a building, which looked suspicious.
That place was pitch black. Even the cats and mice that passed by shuddered in fear.
...
The entire courtyard was deadly still, but Sharky didn’t dare drop his guard. He used Phoenix Technique to hide his aura, and arrived inside.
He noticed there were not any guards around here, and he knew that there was no point in having any guards there anyway. The other party was one of the fiend races’ best cultivators. If there had been guards there, it might only expose his identity.
He quickened his pace and arrived at the center of the room. Suddenly, he heard some whispers.
Huh? There’s more than one person here. Sharky was surprised and immediately slowed down. This was good, he could clean all the trash in one sweep.
He moved over to the window, then made a small hole to look through. There was no light inside, making the interior dark. However, with his cultivation, he was able to see clearly inside.
There weren’t any household objects, save for a single round table. The table was extremely large, more than ten times the size of an ordinary one.
However, there weren’t that many people seated there. There were only five people. They were all seated quite far from each other, as if they were on guard against each other. No wonder the table was so large. Meanwhile, every single one of them was concealed by voluminous black robes.
But Sharky was really stunned, because these people were disguised way too well! He couldn’t see their real appearance at all. He couldn’t even discern their sex! Look at how secretive these fellas are. This is clearly an illegal gathering.
While Sharky was mocking them, someone spoke up. "Why was Nick killed?"
