Becoming A Tech Tycoon Begins With Regression

Chapter 231 231: Endgame [1]

Chapter 231 231: Endgame [1]

"What is the meaning of this?" One of the other executives repeated looking as Reid and his team approached them with syringes in hand and blank expressions.

"Haven't I said it already?" Ethan muttered in mock confusion, "this is my assurance."

"You know very well what were asking, Ethan Carter," Vladimir added, refusing to be injected with an unknown substance, "why is one of our mercenary teams here and why the hell are they listening to you."

There was a brief silence before Ethan answered, "I might've brainwashed them a little when I captured them."

"Oh and before you ask," he added, looking at them, "your tests are too primitive to catch a brain rework on that level."

"So I'm guessing the liquid in these syringes are what you used to brainwash them?" The female executive asked, suspiciously eyeing the black liquid.

"No," Ethan shook his head, "I would never brainwash my important pieces, you'll still retain full awareness of any action you take, I promise."

"Then what are these?" The black sheep of an European royal family asked.

"Nanobots," his words sounded casual but the room immediately went cold at his reply.

"You all might be surprised, since you've already attempted, and failed to do something similar," Ethan finished calmly, his gaze sweeping across the room. "Yes, I know."

The temperature in the boardroom seemed to drop another degree.

"Mine are different, " he paused before adding, "apart from the fact that mine actually works, you lot will be the first to experience the medical benefits of them."

One of the executives laughed nervously, "and you expect us to believe this is harmless?"

"Well I didn't promise they'll be harmless either," Ethan said , very much enjoying this. This was the finale, so he might as well have as much fun as possible, "there're a few restrictions that will be applied the moment they enter your system."

"Such as?" the female executive asked.

"Betraying OmniTech," Ethan answered without hesitation. "Lying to me, Or acting in ways that directly threaten me or anyone I deem important becomes impossible."

"So, a leash," the female executive said, understanding his words.

"Basically," Ethan didn't deny it, "so what's it going to be? The nanobots or or you walk out that door," he leaned forward slightly, "and discover just how small the world becomes when OmniTech decides you're no longer welcome in it."

The executives thought for a while, before they extended their arms, starting from the female one.

They had all but forgotten that the Collector was still amongst them, calmly observing as Ethan blackmailed them and completely gain control.

Reid and his team approached one at a time, using a different syringe filled with nanobots for each executive.

"I apologize in advance if it hurts," Ethan's said, "I could only upload so much medical knowledge in Reid and his team, so they might not be too accustomed to giving injections."

Contrary to his words, the bit of medical knowledge uploaded in their brains was quickly showing, as Reid calmly punctured their skin after cleaning it with a cotton swab and injecting the nanobots into their blood stream.

The moment they were with in, they immediately activated, duplicating themselves and attaching themselves the each blood vessel.

The reaction was immediate.

A sharp, icy sensation spread from the injection point, racing through their veins like liquid frost. Several executives gasped, fingers clutching armrests as their bodies tensed instinctively.

"What—what is this?" one of them hissed, breath hitching.

Ethan watched calmly as biometric readouts scrolled across his screen, heart rate spikes, their neural activity and a lot more.

"Initialization," he said simply. "Your bodies are just noticing a foreign intrusion, it should pass in a few seconds."

The black sheen beneath their skin faded almost instantly, the nanobots dispersing too finely to be seen, threading themselves through capillaries, reinforcing vessel walls, and becoming one with their neural pathways.

Then came the second wave.

A warmth replaced the cold and they felt their muscles immediately loosened as their breathing steadied.

One of the older executives blinked, startled. "…My chest," he muttered. "The pain—it's gone."

Another flexed his fingers slowly. "My tremor," he whispered. "I've had that for years."

Ethan smiled faintly. "I did forget to mention, the nanobots will fully repair anything marked as an anomaly. Consider it a welcome gift."

Across the table, the female executive swallowed, her eyes sharp despite the lingering shock. "And the leash?"

Ethan's smile widened just a little.

"That's already in place."

As if on cue, one of the executives flinched, face paling. He opened his mouth, clearly about to speak,

and froze.

"I—" he tried again, sweat beading on his brow.

Nothing came out.

"Right," he said with a smile, "that's basically how it works."

A few of executives were immediately horrified, but there was no turning back now, the leash was already in place.

Ethan finally turned to the collector who was still silently observing, though internally his eyes were wide.

He knew that Ethan Carter was a genius, but not enough to create a working colony of nanobots without any prior research on it.

Till today, nanobots were a thing of sci-fi movies, one which Helix Tech had tried and failed to replicate, but it seemed that Ethan Carter had barely tried, but he succeeded.

The Collector chuckled softly. "You really are dangerous."

"Of course," Ethan nodded with a smile, "though you are realizing that fact a little too late, don't you think?"

"I guess," the collector nodded, "but our game is not over yet, after all, you might suddenly lose your newly gained pawns."

It seemed he expected something to happen just after his words, but nothing did, so he just sat in awkward silence.

"Ah, I think I get what you're talking about," Ethan suddenly spoke up, "unfortunately, your sniper, Daniel Crowe, had been taken care of already."

"How did you—" The collector started but was cut off by Ethan.

"It was pretty easy," Ethan replied, "want me to tell you about it?"
