Because of My Stupidity, I Became a Timid Vampire

Chapter 55 : The Atmosphere Becomes Somewhat Awkward

Chapter 55 : The Atmosphere Becomes Somewhat Awkward

Looking at Bei Yaoyue's breathtakingly gentle smile and the determination reflected in her eyes, Xifeng's mind became somewhat dazed for a moment.

For some reason, for that brief instant, she was actually somewhat moved by what Bei Yaoyue had said, but soon, she shook her head mentally, dismissing the thought of compromising with Bei Yaoyue.

This was equivalent to throwing all the hardships and suffering onto their future selves, just for the sake of present happiness.

But since human eyes are positioned forward, naturally one should look ahead. She couldn't do something recklessly without considering the consequences.

Now, she not only didn't hate Bei Yaoyue, she even, one could say, liked her a bit.

But precisely because of this, she wouldn't allow herself to delay the normal life that should belong to Bei Yaoyue, because this was a path that, once attempted, would inevitably deviate from worldly norms and could never be turned back from.

"Unreasonable." Feeling that it was impossible to convince Bei Yaoyue, Xifeng closed her eyes and sighed, standing up. "I only hope you can think this through properly."

Only Xifeng herself hadn't noticed that her voice carried a trace of wavering.

"I'm going to brush my teeth."

Leaving these words behind, Xifeng turned and left as if trying to escape.

Watching Xifeng's figure disappear behind the door, Bei Yaoyue sat up from the bed edge, remained silent for a long while, then said dejectedly in a low voice: "I'm sorry, it's all my fault."

She could never have imagined that her choice to make Xifeng her sister in order to force herself to abandon her feelings would not only fail to serve its intended purpose, but would instead become like thorns on a rose—after she had completely fallen, it became a shackle restraining their relationship, paving their future path with brambles.

In today's society, homosexuality had gradually been accepted by more and more people, even becoming politically correct in some countries, but ethics remained a red line that could never be crossed. Those who touched it would inevitably be spurned by the world.

If they didn't have this sisterly relationship, the obstacles between them would be reduced by more than half.

But life has no ifs. Since the path had already led to this point, she could only press forward bravely. Even if she ended up battered and bruised, she would have no regrets.

This was her and her final stubbornness.

So-called enlightenment means carving out a bright path forward in the pitch-black wilderness.

"Xifeng."

After finishing washing up and coming out of the bathroom, Bei Yaoyue called out to Xifeng, who was putting on her shoes preparing to go out, saying: "I want to go too."

"...Why are you so persistent about this?" Xifeng scratched her head with some headache. "You don't even know her."

"She's your friend, so naturally she's my friend too." Bei Yaoyue said with a completely serious expression.

"...That's twisted logic." Xifeng complained weakly, only able to helplessly spread her hands. "Fine, since you insist, then I have no choice."

It was only then that Xifeng sadly realized she had absolutely no way to deal with Bei Yaoyue. This wouldn't do—if they really got together in the future, wouldn't she have to be submissive in front of Bei Yaoyue all the time, kneeling on the washboard whenever told to?

What could she do about that? She couldn't beat her in a fight, scolding had no effect, and running away... where could she run to?

This absolutely couldn't continue!

Secretly encouraging herself, Xifeng thought perhaps she should find some way to regain some dignity in front of Bei Yaoyue. At the very least, she couldn't be so pathetic.

If she could turn the tables and go on the offensive, that would be even better.

"Coo Coo, are you up?" Xifeng called He Pingge.

"Already ready, can leave anytime!"

Even though she had been exhausted yesterday, she woke up so energetic again. Xifeng sometimes couldn't understand where He Pingge's seemingly inexhaustible energy came from.

"Then let's meet at that breakfast shop nearby? I'll be there in about half an hour."

"Okay."

Putting down her phone and hearing the sound of Bei Yaoyue opening the bedroom door, Xifeng turned to her and said: "Finished changing? Then let's go..."

But after seeing Bei Yaoyue's outfit clearly, she was stunned.

A pure white sleeveless shirt, spotless, with a red bow tie at the chest. Below was a navy and pale blue plaid pleated skirt, black cotton over-knee socks that made her legs look even more slender, revealing a large expanse of mouth-watering absolute territory. She wore a cat-ear baseball cap on her head, looking as cute as an elf maiden who had walked out of a painting.

"Beautiful." Xifeng couldn't help but praise her. As expected of a professional artist who draws beautiful girls—her understanding of fashion coordination was really something.

She was different though. Having previously been an otaku with an unrefined lifestyle, her understanding of clothing coordination was to wear whatever was available, as long as it wasn't ugly.

"As long as you like it." Saying indifferently, Bei Yaoyue walked straight to the entrance and picked up a pair of brown round-toe shoes.

In just half an hour, Bei Yaoyue seemed to have switched back to aloof mode, as if expressions were some kind of luxury item.

"Why dress up so seriously? We're just going out to play, not going on a blind date." Xifeng asked, looking at Bei Yaoyue's outfit that had obviously taken some time to put together. If you looked carefully, you could even see she seemed to be wearing light makeup.

Her movements paused for a moment. Bei Yaoyue looked up and glared fiercely at Xifeng, but didn't speak.

"...?" Xifeng was stunned by Bei Yaoyue's fierce glare. Who am I? Where am I? What did I say wrong?

Getting out of the taxi, Xifeng immediately spotted He Pingge standing at the breakfast shop entrance, looking at the passing vehicles. She also noticed Xifeng and waved at her.

"Who's this?" He Pingge asked curiously, looking at the girl following behind Xifeng.

Really beautiful, though still not quite as good as my Xifei.

"This is my sister, Bei Yaoyue." Xifeng introduced to He Pingge. "She had nothing to do today, so she decided to come along and play."

Oh! So this is my sister-in-law!

As expected of Xifei, even her sister is so beautiful.

"So you're Xifei's sister. I've heard Xifei mention you many times. She told me you two have a very good relationship and that she really likes you." He Pingge said with a smile, extending her right hand to Bei Yaoyue.

"Uh..." Xifeng immediately looked embarrassed. Although she understood that He Pingge was just saying nice things about her in front of Bei Yaoyue, given the awkward relationship between her and Bei Yaoyue right now, she was really afraid Bei Yaoyue would misunderstand this statement.

"Xifei?"

Enemy radar immediately sounded an alarm. Bei Yaoyue ignored He Pingge's extended hand, looking at He Pingge with wariness.

"She's always called me that since we were little, don't misunderstand." Seeing that Bei Yaoyue had clearly misunderstood the weight of this nickname, Xifeng quickly explained with an awkward laugh.

She looked down and saw He Pingge's hand extended awkwardly, not knowing whether to withdraw it, and quickly tried to smooth things over: "My sister is a bit shy and doesn't know how to interact with strangers. Don't mind it."

Xifeng increasingly felt her head growing large. She shouldn't have listened to Bei Yaoyue and let her come along. Now she was caught between both sides—wasn't this just asking for trouble?

"No problem, no problem. Xifei's sister is my sister. Of course I wouldn't mind." He Pingge waved her hand with a smile. That was her sister-in-law—someone she absolutely had to maintain a good relationship with no matter what. How could she hold a grudge over such a small matter?
