Chapter 52 : Drunk
Chapter 52 : Drunk
On the way home, Xifeng had never felt so anxious. If possible, she even wished she could fly home immediately.
She bit her lip. So she did care about that person after all?
"Driver, can you go a little faster?" Xifeng couldn't help but urge.
"This is already the fastest. Any faster would be speeding."
Xifeng weakly leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes. Waiting time was always so difficult to endure.
"Miss, it's late at night, you must be careful when you're alone." When getting out, the driver kindly reminded her.
"Thank you."
Coming out of the elevator, Xifeng opened the door and quickly walked in.
As soon as she entered Bei Yaoyue's bedroom, she was hit by a strong smell of alcohol that made her feel slightly suffocated. She was all too familiar with this smell.
"...How much did she drink?"
Xifeng was somewhat dazed. What kind of troubles would make Bei Yaoyue drink so much alcohol regardless of her health?
Although Xifeng had always liked drinking, she had limits in her heart. She knew her alcohol tolerance, knew how much she could drink, and because of this, in all these years, she had never truly gotten drunk even once.
Bei Yaoyue lay quietly on the bed, staring out the window with open eyes. Her normally clear blue eyes now seemed somewhat intoxicated, lost in unknown thoughts.
Hearing Xifeng enter, both Bei Yaoyue and Su Weiai turned their gazes toward her.
"Bei Yaoyue, you..."
Just about to scold Bei Yaoyue, Xifeng noticed Su Weiai beside her and felt it would be inappropriate to criticize someone in front of others, so she swallowed her words and turned to ask Su Weiai: "What happened to her? Why did she suddenly drink so much?"
Su Weiai gently shook her head: "She kept telling me she was very scared, but I don't really understand the specifics."
"Scared?" Xifeng was momentarily stunned, unable to figure out what Bei Yaoyue could be afraid of.
Or rather... what in this world could make Bei Yaoyue feel afraid?
She couldn't think of anything.
Walking to the bedside and sitting down, Xifeng looked at Bei Yaoyue's flushed cheeks and misty blue eyes, asking with concern: "How much did she drink?"
"About seven or eight bottles of beer..." Su Weiai said uncertainly. "She's never drunk alcohol before. This was her first time drinking. I kept trying to persuade her to drink less, but she just wouldn't listen."
"Su Weiai." Bei Yaoyue suddenly spoke. "You should go back first."
"It is getting quite late. You should head home first. I'll take care of Bei Yaoyue." Xifeng showed a grateful smile. "Sorry for troubling you to look after her this time."
"It's nothing, just a small matter. I'll go first then."
After seeing Su Weiai off, Xifeng sat back by the bedside, looking at Bei Yaoyue's misty, dazed eyes, and said with slight reproach: "Why did you drink so much?"
"..."
Bei Yaoyue didn't answer, just stared at her blankly, looking like her consciousness wasn't very clear.
This situation was what Xifeng found most troublesome. If Bei Yaoyue had truly drunk herself unconscious, that would actually be easier to handle—vomit, sleep it off, wake up and everything would be fine. But trying to coax someone who was half-drunk, still conscious but with confused reasoning, to sleep was harder than climbing to heaven.
"Won't you say something?" Xifeng asked again.
"..."
"You..."
The feeling of being ignored was quite unpleasant. Xifeng immediately felt some anger rising. She had rushed back anxiously just to get the cold shoulder from Bei Yaoyue?
"I don't care about you anymore. You can fend for yourself."
With that, Xifeng resolutely turned around, but just as she took her first step, a hand grabbed the hem of her skirt, stopping her departure.
"Xifeng... don't go..." came Bei Yaoyue's clear, cold voice from behind, soft but mixed with a pleading emotion.
Her steps stopped. Xifeng's heart instantly softened at such an extremely gentle sentence, and her resentment instantly dissipated. She snorted softly and said: "Hmph↗, I really can't do anything about you. I'll reluctantly stay and keep you company."
When Xifeng turned around, she saw Bei Yaoyue had gotten up from the bed and, like a hungry wolf hunting prey, pounced on her.
"Wah!"
Xifeng cried out in surprise, nearly knocked to the ground by Bei Yaoyue's impact. She stepped her right leg back to barely support her body.
Like finding a long-lost relative, Bei Yaoyue hugged the person in her arms tightly, yet as carefully as if holding a fragile object, afraid that using too much force would crush her.
"Xifeng, do you hate me?" Bei Yaoyue's voice was low and dejected, like a small wild cat shivering in the rain, inevitably evoking feelings of pity.
Xifeng laughed awkwardly without answering. If she had to say, she did dislike her a bit, right?
Bei Yaoyue's embrace was like a cage, imprisoning Xifeng in place. She initially wanted to struggle free, but considering Bei Yaoyue's current unstable emotional state, decided to let her do as she pleased for now.
Supporting Bei Yaoyue's weight with effort, Xifeng said quietly: "You're drunk."
"I'm not drunk." Bei Yaoyue retorted, exhaling a large breath of alcohol.
"Everyone who's drunk says they're not drunk." Xifeng curled her lips. What crazy person thinks they're crazy?
"Can you tell me?" Bei Yaoyue rested her chin on Xifeng's shoulder. "Do you hate me?"
To get Bei Yaoyue to end this topic, Xifeng could only say: "Of course I don't hate you."
"You're being perfunctory with me." Bei Yaoyue seemed to see through her thoughts.
"Then what do you want me to say!" Xifeng was getting frantic. Did she want her to say, "Yes, I hate you?"
"Tell the truth."
"I am telling the truth." To avoid pushing Bei Yaoyue down, Xifeng gently pushed her away as lightly as possible, removing her arms from around herself. "You're really drunk. You should sleep."
"..."
Bei Yaoyue lowered her head, her expression invisible, her body swaying slightly as if unable to stand steady, like a small sapling struggling in a fierce wind, tottering on the verge of collapse.
Seeing this, Xifeng quickly stepped forward to support her body, slowly helping her to the bedside to sit down.
"Rest early. You'll feel better after sleeping."
"Xifeng." Bei Yaoyue called softly, looking up at Xifeng. "Help me take off my clothes."
"Huh?" Xifeng was stunned. "Can't you take them off yourself?"
"I can't find where the buttons are."
"You... just pull them off." Xifeng would never believe such a lie meant to trick children. She felt Bei Yaoyue was sometimes both stupid and mischievous.
Clearly wanting to misbehave, but her methods were so clumsy they could only fool three-year-olds.
"It's true." Bei Yaoyue stubbornly repeated.
"Sigh... fine."
Continuing to argue would be pointless. Better to settle this quickly. With this thought, Xifeng helplessly nodded: "Sit properly. I'll help you undress."
This was the first time personally undressing a girl. Xifeng's hands trembled slightly.
Unbuttoning the shirt buttons one by one, revealing the white cotton ruffled wireless bra underneath, Xifeng quickly closed her eyes, groping to find Bei Yaoyue's waistband and pulling it down.
Holding Bei Yaoyue's changed clothes, Xifeng was afraid of accidentally seeing something she shouldn't, so she urged: "Okay, hurry and get under the covers."
"But... I haven't taken off my underwear yet."
