Chapter 614 289: To Me, He Is the Best Person (Part 2)

Chapter 614 289: To Me, He Is the Best Person (Part 2)

Erin looked at Amber, who was sitting at the other end of the sofa with a seat between them, and asked, "Want to watch together?"

Amber nodded.

Erin proactively sat next to Amber. Amber felt a bit uncomfortable but didn't move away.

Midway through the film, as the plot entered a lull, Amber suddenly said, "You're a good person."

Erin laughed and said, "Actually, Wu, actually Sean is also a good person. Spend a couple more days with him and you'll see."

Amber shook her head, "I can sense he's killed someone. Mom said taking someone else's life and causing harm, no matter the reason, doesn't make a good person."

Then she lowered her voice and whispered, "I'm not."

If Wu Chang were here, he'd surely ask offhandedly which mom said that.

The girl had lived with twelve families, so his curiosity was understandable and wasn't meant to retaliate against her for avoiding him while getting close to Erin.

Being asked left Erin momentarily speechless. After thinking for a while, she softly said:

"I can't define what makes a good person; I just know that when I was in danger, he was the one who protected me. When I was troubled about whether to hurt others, he told me to leave such matters to him."

"He showed me many sights along the way, taught me many emotions, and brought me many experiences that wouldn't have been mine otherwise. To me, he is a good person, the best person."

"I believe to you, he can also be a good person."

The film on the screen continued to play, until near the end when Amber asked, "Really?"

Erin affirmed, "Yes."

Wu Chang himself had no idea that as soon as he left, Amber shortly followed and left the attic.

He was currently driving to the warehouse where the bare-knuckle match was held. After taking care of Kent, he planned to take a portion of the money and go to the supermarket to buy fresh fruits and meat tomorrow.

If he didn't draw money from True Self, his income as an elementary school gym teacher wouldn't be enough to afford fresh fruits and vegetables in Sigef City. To get vegetables and vitamins, he'd have to settle for canned vegetables.

But eating canned goods every day—dogs would shake their heads at that, let alone people.

For the sake of Amber's balanced nutrition during her developmental stage, Kent boss, you'll have to put up with it.

Outside the dock's coffee shop, Wu Chang and True Self met symbolically and then went to the warehouse together.

Because of tonight's big business, the area around the warehouse had been cleared early on, with members of White Old K stationed at nearby intersections. Only invited members were allowed entry.

Kent valued Sean highly and specially sent his own car for pick-up and drop-off. Riding in Kent's vehicle, the two of them entered the warehouse without obstruction.

The car drove straight into the fighting arena, where Wu Chang and True Self got out and surveyed the surroundings.

Unlike a normal bare-knuckle match, trading night's fight had no ordinary spectators, only gang members.

Just as the grievances showed, on trading night, Kent would leave the third-floor suite and approach the edge of the ring to watch the match closely.

For most players, this was the best opportunity to strike Kent, but the dozen or so blood stains remaining on the ground showed it wasn't that simple.

Inside the boxing arena, people were divided into two groups: one being the members of White Old K, including Kent and some trusted lieutenants he had promoted. Around them were some rookies aspiring to make a name through bare-knuckle fighting.

The other side consisted of business partners dealing in flour with Kent.

That group numbered around twenty, each with short, round stature and dark skin.

The leader was a head shorter than Kent but had a belly larger by a circle, holding a cigar and chatting with Kent near the ring.

Because his attributes were suppressed, Wu Chang couldn't hear what they were saying, but he could see a mountain of boxes piled on a table not far from the leaders.

Each side had an open box; Kent's white fat box was filled with colorful Federation Coins, while the black fat guy's box contained neatly packed flour.

They're oddly kind for sorting out the gold coins to explode in advance.

Seeing Sean arrive, Kent temporarily ended his conversation with the customer and approached him.

"Mr. Sean, I didn't expect you would come to Sigef City. If I had known sooner, I would've visited you personally."

Wu Chang showed a bitter expression and said, "Because of that last match, I didn't want others to know I was here."

Kent displayed a standard philanthropist's smile and generously stated:

"With Mr. Sean's fighting techniques, you can shine anywhere. How about you box at my place? Though there's no way to get endorsements, I promise you'll earn no less than before."

Wu Chang revealed a look of interest, "I'll consider it."

Kent said, "Looking forward to your performance tonight. If your brothers can win the fight, you two will get thirty percent of whatever money you save me."

Wu Chang nodded, secretly thinking Kent had some conscience for not going with a ninety-five percent cut.

But today he wasn't here to earn a share.

The fighting had become a routine affair on trading night, and without further ado, the competition phase began.

To prevent outside probes, a few subordinates pulled down the shutter doors around the arena, turning the fighting and transaction scene into a completely isolated space. Several gunmen hiding in the shadows to protect Kent also retreated to the corners of the arena.

This was the moment Wu Chang waited for.

As everyone piled together, his true self used partial transformation ability to emit Deep Water Bite.
