Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children

Chapter 435 - 434: Can’t We Save Her?

Chapter 435 - 434: Can’t We Save Her?

"Where did you pop out from?" Nong Ting asked, her face cold and grim. Her tailbone was still aching.

"Look how young this little cub is. Could he be the child Nong Mu gave birth to in the Underground City?" Nong Jing asked, covering her mouth in feigned surprise. In reality, her eyes were filled with glee at Nong Mu’s misfortune. "Oh, silly me. I heard your body was ruined, Nong Mu, and that you can’t have children. So this must be a cub you rescued from Underground Yecheng City out of the goodness of your heart, right?"

"I know!" a young female shouted in a high-pitched voice. "My brother went out to rescue Nong Ting last night, and he was lured away by a little cub who was stealing things..."

A look of hurt realization dawned on Nong Ting’s face. "No wonder," she said. "Birds of a feather flock together. Sister, since you have a little thief for a brother, your own skills must be far superior."

"How else could he have gotten a Thirteenth-level Crystal Stone? But Sister, this is your home. If you wanted something, you could have just asked Third Uncle. Would he really have refused you? Why did you have to covet the betrothal gift Zong Shi gave me?"

Nong Mu was speechless. She could only shake her head. ’It’s not like that...’

"Bah! What ’coveting’?" Da Hai spat. "My sister doesn’t know the first thing about you. Don’t think the truth is on your side just because you have more people."

"If you’ve got the guts, go get your leader and elders. I have a talisman here that can make you speak the truth," Da Hai announced, waving the Spirit Storage Talisman in his hand.

His Mother loved to study superpowers. Every day, after finishing her Cultivation practice, she’d come up with all sorts of wild ideas. This inspired the children, who also loved to tinker and experiment.

Little Hong’s superpower was the Mind Reading Technique. She had been inspired by Father Gong You. If time could flow both forward and backward, couldn’t her Mind Reading Technique work both ways too?

And so, through constant experimentation, she discovered that in addition to eavesdropping on people’s thoughts, she could also make them temporarily lose control of their spiritual power and force them to speak the truth!

As a result, Little Hong learned to store this superpower in a talisman, creating the Truth-telling Talisman.

Nong Ting’s face stiffened, and she instinctively took a step back. "You... you’re just a little cub who’s not even weaned yet! How could you possibly have such a powerful talisman?"

"Don’t worry about how I got it. All that matters is that it works," Da Hai said, taking a step forward. Nong Ting couldn’t help but retreat.

"Help! Someone!" Nong Ting couldn’t help but scream. "A bad little cub has shown up out of nowhere! His father is one of the most wicked villains from Underground Yecheng City! Who knows what terrible things he’s planning to do in our tribe!"

But Da Hai just zipped forward. He could run quite fast, but Nong Ting was not athletic at all; she would be gasping for breath after just a few steps.

So he just jogged after Nong Ting, chasing her in circles through the crowd.

"Hey, Sister! If every word you said is true, what are you running for?" Da Hai followed with a playful laugh.

Little Jing thought this was fun too and trailed behind them with his arms outstretched. "Sister, you’re not hiding some big secret, are you? Are you afraid that one Truth-telling Talisman will make you confess to so many terrible deeds that everyone will want to punish you?"

’What bad intentions could a little cub possibly have?’ "You made my big brother sound so evil, which must mean you’re a bad female! And a bad female’s friends must be bad too! Later, I’ll have my big brother stick a talisman on every one of them..."

The crowd’s expressions changed, and they all turned, wanting to leave.

But Nong Yan had already hurried over with his men. Five or six guards immediately surrounded the crowd.

The tribe’s elders followed behind him.

"Father!" Nong Ting cried, as if she’d found her protector. She ran straight behind the Fourth Elder. "This little cub is from Underground Yecheng City! He’s malicious! Not only did he steal someone’s Crystal Stone, but he’s also trying to stick a talisman on me!"

The Fourth Elder’s expression darkened, but the words that came out of his mouth were, "Third Brother, how are you so damned lucky? You went to Underground Yecheng City and actually escaped, and you even managed to upend Ye City."

"I was all prepared to take over the Tongdong Tribe. Half the elders support me—the Great Elder, the Fifth Elder, the Seventh Elder, the Tenth Elder... I also pushed things along to get your daughter sent to Underground Yecheng City..."

His eyes widened in disbelief. His mouth was completely out of his control, spilling secrets he had desperately tried to keep hidden.

Da Hai grinned and clapped his hands. "Oops, my hand slipped. The talisman must have floated on the wind and stuck to this gentleman here."

The words spilled from the Fourth Elder’s mouth so quickly that the crowd was left stunned by the information. His eyes looked ready to pop out of his head as he frantically gestured for Nong Ting to pull the talisman off him.

The moment Nong Ting grabbed the talisman, words began to spill from her mouth as well. "Nong Mu never stole my Crystal Stone! I planted it on her and pretended to find it... I’m just so jealous that she’s the Clan Leader’s daughter, but I’ll be the daughter of the leader soon, and that house should be mine... It’s a shame they didn’t die in Underground Yecheng City..."

Little Jing clapped along. "See? The truth is out! Sister Nong Mu didn’t steal anything! It’s these nasty females! They just look for excuses to frame and bully people!"

His face an ashen gray, the Fourth Elder yanked a wooden hairpin from Nong Ting’s hair and used it to flick the talisman out of her hand.

The talisman caught the wind and, WHOOSH, slapped right onto Nong Jing before she could dodge.

She realized with horror that her own mouth was betraying her. "I’m so jealous of Nong Mu. I hate her! Why does she get everything good in the family? Just because she has great talent, knows how to sweet-talk people, is beautiful, and is the baby of the family?"

"Haha! So I made a deal with Fu Hong from the Underground City and had him abduct her... She’s ruined now, so why do Father and my brothers still dote on her...?"

One bombshell after another dropped, so explosive that the crowd could barely process what they were hearing.

Nong Yan staggered back two steps. He suddenly felt like he no longer recognized his own older brother and nieces.

Now that the truth was out in the open, the Fourth Elder was no longer flustered. He laughed. "My dear Third Brother, people strive for greater heights, just as water flows to lower depths. You’ve been the leader for far too long. Isn’t it time for your big brother to have a turn in the seat?"

"To save that ugly, filthy, mute girl, you took the Tongdong Tribe’s most elite guards all the way to Underground Yecheng City."

"Did you ever spare a thought for the rest of us? It wouldn’t matter if you all died, but you offended Ye City! What’s supposed to happen to us? Did you ever care whether we live or die?"

"Hah! The moment you decided to save her, you forfeited your right to be the leader of the Tongdong Tribe!"

A chill ran through Nong Mu. In that moment, she hated herself for holding on for all these years. If she had just gone to see the Beast God sooner, she wouldn’t have become a burden to her Father in this broken body.

She gave a miserable laugh. It felt as if a great door had finally closed before her, leaving nothing in this world for her to hold onto. A fire began to blaze from within her.

Nong Yan’s eyes burned with fury. He tried to lunge forward but was held back tightly. "Mumu! You promised you’d trust your Father! I did all this not just to save you, but to lure the snakes out of their holes! Stop, please stop...!"

Da Hai panicked. "Sister, what’s wrong?"

He rushed toward the flames but was swept into Gong You’s arms.

A chill went through Si Shuo. "Gong You, can’t we save her?"

Gong You nodded. "The Tongdong Tribe are Flying Beasts. Their Clan Leader, Nong Yan, is a Peacock Beastman—the King of Hundred Birds. If I’m not mistaken, the Peacock Beastman line has some Divine Clan blood..."
