Chapter 154 - 152: Power of Time?

He woke up the next day.

The Spiritual Power in Gu Ming’s Sea of Consciousness had recovered to a satisfactory level.

Recalling the ghost-like presences he had sensed last night, he was still a little curious.

So, he once again conjured a gentle breeze in his mind, stirring the five miniature Old Deng’s Health Arrays and sweeping the resulting ripples through his entire body.

As expected, he once again failed to perceive any ghost-like presences.

Perhaps he needed to once again forge that sharp sword of an ultimate thought.

However, condensing such a thought was simply too difficult.

It was an Ultimate Thought originating from the depths of his soul, not something Gu Ming could generate at will.

It required his own emotions to build up to the point of a volcanic eruption to condense into that single thought.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have that feeling now.

But it didn’t matter. It was enough for him to know that those two seemingly ghost-like entities existed within his body.

Besides, based on the scenario the system provided, the two presences in his Sea of Consciousness should correspond to something beneficial to him in the real world.

Since he couldn’t capture them, he would just let them continue to exist inside him. Perhaps they would prove useful one day.

As Gu Ming left his room, he heard a series of violent smacking sounds from outside.

’How long has this military training been going on?’

’Did they really not rest at all last night?’

Gu Ming went outside into the courtyard and stared at the Black and White Long-Armed Ape, Cyan Treasure, and the other Pet Beasts still undergoing high-intensity military training.

At that moment, Gu Ming discovered that Cyan Treasure’s Military Boxing had already reached the Entry Stage. The snake’s entire aura and Fist Force were different; it was striking much more fiercely than before.

’Looks like one night of military training had a remarkable effect.’

Cyan Treasure swung its head, moving as nimbly as a human. It swayed left and right, using its head as a fist to throw a sharp "punch"—just like a person—at the Black and White Long-Armed Ape.

The ape retaliated with Military Boxing as well, using no Mana. With its bare fists, it generated an even more terrifying pressure, as if a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood stood behind it, striking fear into the snake.

Goosebumps broke out all over Cyan Treasure’s body. It was as if it had returned in a dream to that terrifying moment when a single glare from the Black and White Long-Armed Ape had frozen it in place.

However, it had already experienced such scenes many times in its dreams and had developed a slight resistance to the Black and White Long-Armed Ape’s intimidation.

As long as its opponent wasn’t truly using an Intimidation Skill, it could suppress its fear and launch an attack.

But because it was still hesitant, the power of its punch was also reduced.

With a THWACK, it was sent flying again, but Mouse Treasure caught it from behind, allowing it to land safely.

When Cyan Treasure saw its master arrive, it flicked its tongue. It didn’t complain about its hardship; instead, it indicated that it was fine and the training didn’t need to stop.

Seeing Cyan Treasure working so hard, Gu Ming was moved, but his heart also ached a little. Still, how could one grow without getting hurt? He could only stand by and cheer for it silently.

During the fight, Cyan Treasure would twist its body with all its might, dodging its opponent before continuing to punch. It would still get hit by its coach occasionally, and this was after a full night of practice.

’Who knows how many punches it took last night.’

In reality, close combat was not Cyan Treasure’s strong suit. In Gu Ming’s future plans for it, melee was not a necessary choice but rather the main form of combat to be avoided.

It was one thing for the Sunflower Seed-eating Hamster; its body was naturally bulky, so practicing close-combat abilities was very beneficial.

But Cyan Treasure’s body was too frail, so strengthening its melee capabilities wouldn’t be of much use.

Mr. Gu, however, saw it differently:

"The point of practicing close combat is to increase Cyan Treasure’s Physical Strength, Endurance, and defense, not to prepare it for actual melee fighting. It’s to train its body."

Mr. Gu’s words left Gu Ming temporarily unable to refute them.

The training continued like this for half the day. In the afternoon, no one took an afternoon break, and the training ground was moved to the back mountain.

Gu Ming and the others traveled through the forest and arrived at Ma Tianba’s location.

After a week, Ma Tianba and the old gentleman had developed a great rapport. The two were like old friends, able to chat and laugh about anything and everything.

Because of this, when the old gentleman brought over Cyan Treasure and the other Pet Beast, Ma Tianba agreed to give the juniors some pointers.

Cyan Treasure was the easiest to instruct, since it possessed a Light Spiritual Root.

Ma Tianba snorted and grunted, "I hear you’ve comprehended the Plant Life Laser. Just shoot it right at me."

Ma Tianba’s power was beyond question, so Cyan Treasure held nothing back. It planted its internal Light Grass Spiritual Root into the "soil," generating Life Energy which it then transported to its throat using the Earth Shifting Technique.

Immediately after, a fierce cyan light shot violently from its mouth, sweeping over Ma Tianba.

The dense Life Power, carrying a murderous aura, violently slammed into Ma Tianba’s body.

Ma Tianba didn’t even raise a shield, taking the laser directly with its physical body. The surrounding plants and trees rapidly withered under the effect of the murderous Life Power, instantly creating a small patch of dead land.

As it endured the blast, it savored the energy carefully, its mouth moving as it commented:

"Not bad. The Life Energy is dense, capable of both positive and negative effects. There’s also a Great Dao Power that accelerates the process of life catalysis. Very rare indeed."

At this point in its evaluation, Ma Tianba perceived the difference between this attack and a normal Life Laser.

If it were just an ordinary life catalyst, it wouldn’t have been surprised.

But within the laser Cyan Treasure had fired, there was a faint sense of over-catalysis.

The speed of this over-catalysis had already surpassed its imagination.

’Is this an elevation in the very level of life?’

’Is that right?’

’Yes, and no.’

Ma Tianba was a Celestial Horse Beast of the Angel Race, extremely sensitive to the Holy Light formed from Life Energy.

The Life Energy Cyan Treasure had fired wasn’t pure. It seemed to be mixed with another form of power, something of a higher level that it had yet to master or comprehend.

Ma Tianba’s eyes snapped open.

"Impossible, absolutely impossible!" Ma Tianba cried out.

Its voice hadn’t originally been that loud, as there were many juniors present who wouldn’t be able to withstand its true voice.

But now, its shock was so great it couldn’t be suppressed, and it accidentally let out its loudest cry. The sound made Gu Ming and Lu You so dizzy their heads swam, and their noses began to bleed.

"My apologies. I lost my composure."

Seeing this, Ma Tianba immediately summoned Holy Light to heal Gu Ming and the others, restoring them from their injuries.

No one understood why Ma Tianba had suddenly gone from savoring the attack to being so startled.

They didn’t realize that it had just tasted a trace of an indescribable Power of the Great Dao.

It was a rare Dao Principle that it had dreamed of obtaining but had never been able to grasp.

The Power of Time!

Time is a mighty power worshipped by all things.

Some Beastmasters had once hypothesized that a Time Element talent could allow an ordinary species to join the ranks of long-lived species.

However, Ma Tianba knew that even though it was a member of a long-lived species, it wasn’t guaranteed a long life.

The reason was that even the long-lived species themselves couldn’t guarantee that they could activate the Power of Time within their bloodline to extend their lifespan.

Ma Tianba was part of the Angel Race through a later evolution and was destined for a long life. However, despite its solitary cultivation deep in the old mountain forests, it had not managed to cultivate the Power of time, nor did it even know how.

This also meant that its lifespan was merely longer than that of an ordinary Pet Beast; it had not reached the standard of true longevity.

That was why Ma Tianba was so utterly shocked to discover that Cyan Treasure’s laser might contain a trace of the Power of Time.
