Bear School Astartes

Chapter 449. Design Drawing

Chapter 449. Design Drawing

The note was found by Regis in a notebook on the desk of this secret room.

The handwriting on it was very clear. Though it’s called a note, it actually contained a lot of content, filling the entire page.

Ged put away the set of equipment blueprints he had discovered and followed Lann to take a look.

Lann had already taken the note from Regis’s hand.

"The containment measures we prepared back then are weakening, you must come up with a new solution!"

"Don’t talk to me about payment! This is unfinished work from Anahad’s time! His craftsmanship had issues, and now that you’ve taken over, you need to handle it to the end! We made the contract with the entire Bear School. We won’t pay twice, don’t even think about it!"

"I’ve drawn the blueprints he designed back then for you below, look at it carefully! I don’t want any problems cropping up again in a hundred years or so!"

The handwriting on the note was so bold and crisp, as if it was chiseled with a tool, one could hardly imagine how the writer learned to write.

Moreover, the tone on the note was quite brusque, much like a creditor speaking to a debtor.

After glancing at it, Mentos recorded the entire note for Lann.

Then Lann handed the note to Ged who had walked over.

"A task passed down from Anahad’s time, probably only the local dwarves of the Amel Mountains, right?"

"Do you know whose notebook this is, Ged?"

Ged didn’t have Lann’s ability to read quickly, so after reading the note, he picked up the notebook and began to decipher the handwriting.

This was a secret chamber, so the person who placed their notebook in a private secret room definitely wouldn’t write their name on it.

However, Ged hadn’t spent those years idly at Heinkawei.

After carefully identifying and recalling for a while, he finally confirmed it.

"Oh, this is Tudun’s writing, starting from Anahad... hmm, he is the fourth leader of the school."

"Not a Grandmaster?" Regis asked curiously. "I remember you demon hunters from other schools usually call your leaders Grandmasters."

Ged waved his hand dismissively.

"The Bear School doesn’t work that way. Our emotional connections are weak, no one wants to take responsibility for others or waste energy. No one wants to be a Grandmaster, and no one can be recognized as one, being a leader is hard enough."

"A group of emotionally detached individuals would indeed be like that, you can’t presume their structure based on typical power dynamics," Lann nodded with arms crossed.

"But that’s not important, let’s focus on the blueprint below, Ged."

Attached below the note was a peculiar blueprint, looking like a topographical map of a mountain range with numerous inexplicable lines and structures added.

The note claimed this was the ’blueprint for the containment measures designed by Anahad’, but actually, it looked more like a construction plan that integrated with the terrain.

"Can you recognize this terrain?"

Ged spread the blueprint with both hands, turned it in various directions, and finally held it at an angle, revealing a look of sudden realization.

"Oh! I can recognize it from this direction! This place isn’t far, about three or four hilltops away from here. It’s a surrounded mountain hollow."

"Can you mark it on my map?"

Lann took out his map of the Amel Mountains, where the circles marked by Shilton Giancardi were still visible.

Ged hesitated a bit with his finger on Lann’s map, first locating Heinkawei, then using the castle as a reference point to find the facilities marked on the blueprint.

Lann took out a quill from his alchemy pouch and made a mark.

"This suggests the range of the dwarves’ activities is more precise now... perhaps within this area."

On the young man’s retinas, streams of calculated data cascaded like a waterfall before settling down.

With Shilton’s circle and Ged’s guidance, Lann substantially narrowed down the range.

The Amel Mountains were vast with countless hills and peaks; narrowing it down could easily save months.

"Rest well in the castle tonight,"

Lann packed away his map and the note with the blueprint.

"Apologies, Ged. Although we’ve just arrived in Heinkawei, we have to set out again. After all, I’m here seeking out that group of dwarves. We can’t find the school’s Grandmaster-level set in a castle that’s been empty for decades."

"Hey, don’t make it look like I’m so nostalgic for this place, wanting to stay longer or something."

Ged crossed his arms, speaking with much reluctance.

"If you didn’t need the place to dry your clothes, I’d rather camp outside!"

"Oh." Lann’s face fell as he looked at Ged. "Then I really appreciate your effort."

"As long as you know, look at Regis, even a Warlock like him is less troublesome than you."

Lann’s mouth twitched, confirming that Ged’s dire straits were both normal and reasonable.

If he were the employer, he wouldn’t tip this guy even a penny!

"Don’t drag me into this, gentlemen."

Regis raised his hands with a smile, taking a half step back to show he wasn’t getting involved.

"What I’m more curious about is, aren’t we visiting the ’containment facility’? I noticed you didn’t seem to head in that direction while planning our route."

"Don’t let curiosity get the best of you, Regis." The young man gave the enthusiastically curious higher vampire a sidelong glance.

"Cats have nine lives, but they often die from excessive curiosity. My main target is still the Grandmaster-level equipment blueprints. First, we should find the dwarves."

"Hmm..." Regis placed a hand on the strap of his crossbody bag, nodding as if savoring what he heard, "That’s an interesting way to put it, ’Cats have nine lives’... you’re the leader, it’s up to you."

No one had any objections, so the plan to set out again the next day was decided.

Yet, despite saying that to Regis, Lann still had Mentos pull up Anahad’s design to analyze in his mind.

The dwarves, speaking in a dunning tone to the fourth leader of the Bear School, asking him to resolve long-standing issues.

From the looks of it, this fourth leader was the one dealing with the mob invasion.

A leader indifferent to everything, devoid of emotions, casually abandoning his castle and notebook – would he tidy up his mess before leaving?

It’s highly likely he fled without finishing his task.

Dwarves are renowned for holding grudges.

And Lann wants to obtain the Grandmaster-level equipment blueprints from the hands of those dwarves...

Those dwarves, feeling deceived by the Bear School, might be even tougher to deal with than anticipated.

Lann glanced again at the design in his retina.

Maybe this task left unfinished since Anahad’s time requires him to handle it.
