Chapter 437. Entering the Palace
Chapter 437. Entering the Palace
Due to the rare professionalism of the Bear School, Lann and Ged took another circuit around the entire underground tomb to ensure there were no more monsters or Demon Spirits stirred up by Sharma’s Chaos Magic Power.
Only then did they head towards the exit of the Royal Mausoleum.
When they reached a well-lit area, Lann habitually took out some White Honey and drank a sip, removing the effects and toxins of the Magic Potion from his body.
But when he offered it to Ged, the fellow declined with a wave.
The reason was: this bit of toxicity was completely bearable, and the effects of Cat’s Eye would wear off faster than the toxins, so it wouldn’t affect his vision in the light environment and was unnecessary.
Lann respected his frugal lifestyle habit.
At the mausoleum exit, Lann saw Regis and Kohen from the Griffin School waiting there.
The high vampire stood beside the stone gate, his fingertips with some blood, appearing to have re-bandaged Kohen.
The Demon Hunter from the Griffin School leaned against the door frame, sitting on the ground.
Although his pants, soaked in his own blood, still stuck to his leg, they were beginning to dry and stiffen.
It seemed the bleeding had stopped.
"You should’ve gone out to rest."
Lann greeted them with a wave while walking, speaking as he went.
"I was of the same mind, but Mr. Kohen insisted on waiting here," Regis said slowly, spreading his hands.
"And I must say, the Magic Potion of the Demon Hunter is indeed immediate. I merely used a bandage to bind it, and a few minutes later, when I removed it, his lower back had completely stopped bleeding."
"Truly incredible recovery ability."
Regis’s expression bore a touch of admiration.
But Lann unconsciously scratched his cheek.
What are you, a high vampire, marveling at here?
Kohen’s face was still as pale as a corpse, but half due to massive blood loss and half as an external effect after drinking the Magic Potion.
"You’re unharmed, so there wasn’t any bigger mess inside?"
Supporting himself on the stone doorway, Kohen moved his feet to stand up, watching Ged and Lann with concern.
"Have you figured out the reason? I just went over the clues again; something feels off."
Lann shook his head: "You’re absolutely right; there’s a hidden underground river next to it, and a Sharma broke through the partition to come in."
"Shaarma? That kind of underground creature? I’ve heard of them but never seen one. So those damned spirits and Water Ghosts came through the underground river?"
Ged and Lann both nodded.
Kohen’s activities mainly centered around the Northern Territory nations, mostly in extreme northern places like Kovir. He hadn’t seen many southern monsters.
"Phew~ so it’s done then."
The Demon Hunter from the Griffin School let out a long breath, seemingly lifting a burden off his heart.
Unlike ordinary Demon Hunters, who worry more about financial loss when unable to complete a task, the knightly spirit of the Griffin School also gave them a psychological burden.
"Don’t be in a rush to leave." Lann saw that Kohen seemed ready to go.
"The reward should be shared. You did quite a lot of investigation earlier; you deserve a share of the seven hundred kroner. Honestly, I’m not here for the money either."
At Lann’s insistence, Kohen awkwardly scratched his head but ultimately didn’t leave.
If he wanted to repair his damaged equipment, he was somewhat financially tight.

After the four of them emerged from the underground mausoleum and stood in the sunlight again, several people who seemed to have been waiting for a long time immediately approached them.
The three Demon Hunters exchanged a glance.
They all knew that the final and most crucial step of the task was upon them—
The employer needed to ensure secrecy, while the Demon Hunters needed to collect their reward.
"Wait, aren’t we missing someone?"
Ged looked around and couldn’t find the magic-using barber surgeon, so he turned to ask Lann.
"Who knows?"
The young man shrugged casually.
"He’s a magic user, you know? Being mysterious is normal. Who knows where he might go."
Ged thought about it, and indeed, that seemed right. Those who dabbled in magic usually didn’t bother explaining much to Demon Hunters.
So he quickly put Regis’s whereabouts out of his mind.
"Gentlemen..."
A man in a finely embroidered tight-fitting tunic and breeches approached them, accompanied by four heavily armored soldiers.
"May I inquire about the progress of your work?"
The refined man pulled down his lips and flared his nostrils, clearly unaccustomed to the smell of three Demon Hunters emerging from tomb muck and monster blood.
But the upside was that, although he couldn’t stand it, he only showed physiological discomfort without any disdain or disgust.
This attitude was quite pleasant for Demon Hunters who had been through thick and thin.
"It’s been cleared."
Lann stepped forward, initiating the task debrief with him.
"There’s also a large creature’s corpse under the tomb. It broke through the tomb’s outer wall and connected to an underground river. I recommend you send a construction team down to fill up the hole."
"Ah, it’s good that the monsters are eliminated." The man’s face showed relief, but he quickly regained composure.
"The rest is manageable. Next, please follow us to the court and collect your reward."
The words were fine, but the three Demon Hunters subtly looked at the four heavily armored soldiers behind the man.
Though they hadn’t changed to an offensive stance, they silently tightened their grips on the handles of their halberds and Longswords, and the sound of their breath beneath their helmets carried a hint of tension.
If they refused the invitation, it seemed the atmosphere might grow unfriendly.
The scene was momentarily silent.
Lann smiled at the five people across from him.
Initially, the refined man could meet his gaze, but after a while, the soldiers in full armor behind him began to fidget uneasily.
They awkwardly opened and closed their hands, twisted their necks, and their armor components and fastenings emitted fine metallic clinks from the movements.
Gradually, sweat began to appear on the refined man’s face, and even his perfectly standard smile was about to falter.
"Heh."
Suddenly, Lann let out a light laugh first.
Following the laugh, the fine sounds on the armor of the four soldiers across increased sharply for a moment.
"Then shall we proceed?"
"Sintra Royal Family is honorable, and I think they wouldn’t trouble a few Demon Hunters over a couple hundred kroner."
The refined man wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, letting out a forced laugh.
