Chapter 555: Chapter 555: Trouble II
Watching Renee eat her rice indifferently, Xuran picked up a chopstick of vegetables, "Don’t think about things when you eat."
It seems she really encountered something, otherwise she wouldn’t spend an afternoon mumbling with Aunt Cai, looking rather unsettled.
Zhan Jing kicked Xuran, "Ask her when you have time."
Zhan Jing was quite worried. Although Meina’s health had been well taken care of over the years, she shouldn’t be ruining her health like this, especially during this special time. Zhan Jing was truly worried that one day Meina might not be able to keep it together.
Xuran responded with a hmm, calculating in his mind, wondering what they were troubled by.
"Any news from the Southern side recently?" It shouldn’t be Aunt Cai’s academic issues; if it involves the Southern side’s letters, then it might be a distressing issue.
Letters? Zhan Jing truly didn’t know, "You know all mailed letters go to the school."
Zhan Jing was studying in a medical school, not the same school as Meina, even if they were it wouldn’t be the same department. If it weren’t mentioned, she wouldn’t know at all.
"There was a letter, from Zhuang." The issue is Zhuang talked about something related to Gong Family. Even if it could make Tao unhappy, it wouldn’t necessarily make Meina so angry.
Zhuang’s letters should not be problematic. Even though in Zhao Gang’s memories, he was quite unremarkable before, over a year of correspondence made him seem more interested in benefits, but not shameless; he likely wouldn’t send a letter to anger Meina.
Zhuang’s letter should be fine. Zhan Jing didn’t know, hoping Xuran could gather some information from Renee’s mouth.
"Let me know the result." Cai Ming leaned over and whispered, "Things haven’t been right with my sister lately, I’m worried if something’s happened on my brother-in-law’s side."
Something unusual? Does Cai Ming know a thing or two? Zhan Jing turned to look at Cai Ming. Since this guy knows something, he should share it. How can he ask them?
Cai Ming gave a bitter smile, "I’m not very sure either, but my brother-in-law’s little brother didn’t get into college, he’s probably blaming them, maybe even blaming my brother-in-law for not getting into college."
Stunned, could this be related? "They are in Northeast and Southern, there was no competition for the spot." Zhan Jing felt this possibility was really low.
Is this absurd? Cai Ming shrugged, that’s because Zhao Gang’s family genuinely didn’t know Gong Zheng well, "My brother-in-law’s little brother always thinks whatever is good should be his; if he fails, someone must be out to get him."
"This time my brother-in-law got into college, but he didn’t. He surely would say my brother-in-law succeeded because he didn’t send over all the materials, otherwise he would have gotten in too."
"Impossible." Zhao Gang wanted to say, "Even if Tao sent him materials, would he read them?"
"Whether he reads them is his issue. Even if my brother-in-law sent them, he would still claim he didn’t give him everything." Cai Ming really didn’t mean to badmouth Gong Zheng, but that’s how he always was, frustrating people endlessly.
Is it truly for complaining about Gong Zheng? Xuran felt there must be something happening, but surely not Gong Zheng’s matters. Even if Gong Zheng thinks this way, would Renee care?
Could Aunt Cai possibly overlook the child in her belly for Gong Zheng’s thoughts?
Xuran thought about this and felt it’s unlikely. Could it be related to Cai Ming?
Could it be that something happened with Cai Ming’s girlfriend, something serious enough that they are anxious?
===
"Ni Zi, did something happen with Uncle’s girlfriend?" Xuran suddenly asked Renee who was silently following him.
How did he know? Renee knew Xuran called her out for a walk surely to talk, but she didn’t eat much today, no need for digestion.
Well, she originally intended to ask Xuran what to do about this. Renee conveyed the information she heard from Meina without adding anything to Xuran.
No way, Xuran was stunned, he had considered many possibilities, even wondered if the girl had passed away, but the truth is even more brutal.
"What should we do, how can we tell Uncle?" Renee felt all kinds of worries, "It might have been better if she had just passed away."
"At least, if she had passed, my uncle could remember the good things about her. But now, how do we explain?" Should Renee say Yan Nan was two-timing?
Or say she was just after the information, withholding the truth? Regardless of the answer, either is terribly cruel.
How can you, even if not directly involved, but the facts are even crueler? "But hiding it isn’t a solution either, I think Uncle should grasp something."
So long without communication, unless one is clueless, the situation seems dire, "Trust Uncle is not such a fragile person."
Cai Ming is certainly not fragile, but when it comes to emotions, it’s truly inexplicable. Some people once deeply into it, never find their way out.
If Yan Nan had passed, she would have been a mark on Cai Ming’s heart. Renee could understand, but that shouldn’t be the case.
"Back then she helped Uncle quite a lot; sending materials could be seen as paying back that favor." Xuran saw Cai Ming’s foolish actions as hitting right.
"No matter what Uncle achieves in life, it’s unrelated to her, even if she cries or makes noise." Some matters seem trivial when spoken, but Xuran knew they were significant for Cai Ming.
To prevent Cai Ming from holding onto this in future, it’s better to settle this now. If she stirs up trouble later, it’d only exhaust their bond.
"Though I doubt she would stir up trouble, she should realize her actions weren’t good, hence not contacting Uncle, hopefully not showing up again." Is the notification a problem?
Aunt Cai’s family might not maintain contact, but someone may still inform them. Just by inquiring a bit, these things are known.
Is that so? Well, thinking back to Yan Nan’s behavior, it seems about right. She was typically a quiet person; encountering issues likely led to this, unfortunately, Zhuang didn’t investigate.
"But what about Uncle?" Why overthink, deal with the matter at hand first, otherwise it’s hard to face Cai Ming.
"Drop hints first, what else?" Xuran didn’t see a need to hide the matter, simply reveal it frankly, letting Cai Ming decide what to do.
Hint to Cai Ming? Renee dared not do that. Actually, it’s not just her; even Tao feared doing so, worried Cai Ming might act recklessly. Meina wouldn’t forgive them.
