Chapter 196: Catching the Thief

Chapter 196: Catching the Thief

She opened the game interface without any noticeable reaction, and sure enough, saw a sneaky figure jump down from the courtyard wall, stealthily sneaking into their house.

The figure displayed on the interface was small, and Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t clearly see the person’s face for the moment.

Strangely, this person gave her a very familiar feeling.

Even more puzzling, after entering the yard, the person did not go into the main house but instead sneaked towards the west wing room.

Her grandmother, Wang Chunhua, was now living in the west wing.

What was this person doing going to the west wing? Normally, wouldn’t they go into the main house?

Unless the thief had brain damage or some weird fetish.

Thinking of this, Su Xiaoxiao felt a chill, rubbed the goosebumps on her arms, quietly grabbed the stick propping the door, and tiptoed into the yard.

Seeing the person pushing open the door to the west wing and entering, she hurriedly followed quietly.

She hadn’t yet approached when she heard Wang Chunhua’s thunderous snoring from inside.

This old lady was certainly sleeping soundly; someone was already inside the house, yet she had no sense of it.

Thinking this, she peeked through the door crack and saw a sneaky figure fumbling around the old lady’s bedside as if looking for something.

Su Xiaoxiao squinted her eyes, feeling more and more that the figure appeared familiar.

The person clearly knew Wang Chunhua lived in the west wing, and based on their actions, it seemed they were looking for something.

From this, it seemed likely to be someone familiar.

Su Xiaoxiao clenched the stick in her hand and leaned against the door, thinking that when the person showed their face, she would immediately knock them out.

The thief rummaged around the room, seemingly not finding anything, and proceeded to open the door to leave.

The instant the door opened, Su Xiaoxiao seized the moment and struck the person’s head directly with her stick.

There was a muffled grunt, and the man instantly fell into a faint.

Su Xiaoxiao was just about to illuminate the person’s face with a flashlight when she heard a subdued voice from outside the west courtyard wall: "Boss, what’s wrong? What’s happening?"

Good heavens, there was actually a partner; she certainly couldn’t let this go.

Su Xiaoxiao glanced around, saw the brick Liu Cuilan used to prop the door at the entrance, picked it up and weighed it.

Taking the man’s clothes, she quietly clambered up the west courtyard wall and indeed saw a figure crouching at the foot of the wall.

Calculating the position, she aimed at the figure and smashed the brick down.

There was a muffled grunt, and the figure below instantly collapsed to the ground, unmoving.

Earlier, when she smashed the person, she targeted the back of their neck, ensuring it wouldn’t be fatal but would successfully knock them out.

Liu Cuilan heard the commotion now, threw on a jacket, and opened the door to come out.

Seeing Su Xiaoxiao about to head out with a shovel, she was momentarily puzzled: "Xiaoxiao, why are you taking a shovel out so late at night?"

Her voice was loud, and Su Xiaoxiao feared she might wake up the person outside the wall, gesturing urgently for her to be quiet.

She pointed to the person fainted on the ground, then to outside the west courtyard wall, speaking in a lowered voice: "Mom, there’s another one outside the door; I just knocked them out; be quieter."

Great, stealing things at her house! Liu Cuilan immediately rolled up her sleeves, grabbed the nearby hoe, and followed Su Xiaoxiao.

The two of them headed straight to outside the west courtyard wall with their tools.

Sure enough, there was a person at the foot of the wall; the person seemed just waking up, using a hand to support the wall and trying to get up.

Chen Guifang had just propped herself up using the wall when two dark shadows suddenly covered her view.

In the dim moonlight, she looked up to see two figures with disheveled hair.

A beam of strong light illuminated one of the figures’ faces, showing a ghostly pale face amidst messy hair.

"Ahhhhh... ghost, ghost..."

She immediately let out a scream and fainted once again.

Su Xiaoxiao looked around: "Ghosts, where are the ghosts?"

Liu Cuilan turned her head to see her holding the flashlight at her chin, shining upwards; the illuminated face looked exceptionally eerie in the night.

Snatching the flashlight from Su Xiaoxiao’s hand, she asked, "Who taught you to hold a flashlight like this? It’s scary at night!"

Su Xiaoxiao scratched her head apologetically, "Mom, I was just trying to create an atmosphere."

At this, she suddenly recalled that the voice sounded somewhat familiar.

Just as she was thinking, Liu Cuilan had already turned the person over, pointing the flashlight at them, revealing a familiar face.

Su Xiaoxiao thought, indeed, it was someone familiar; it was Second Aunt Chen Guifang, whom she hadn’t seen for several days.

The two exchanged a glance; if this was Chen Guifang, then the one in the house...

Oh no, she had hit hard earlier; had she possibly killed Cousin?

Su Xiaoxiao’s heart skipped a beat, and she turned to run into the house.

A few minutes later, Chen Guifang and Su Zhiqiang gradually regained consciousness, initially seeing two dark figures looming in front of them as their eyes opened.

Suddenly, a bright light illuminated one of the figures.

Chen Guifang, just waking groggily, let out another scream, "Ahhhhh... ghost!"

"Ghost your head!"

Liu Cuilan cursed angrily, then snatched the flashlight from Su Xiaoxiao’s hand and flicked on the light switch.

Only then did they see it was Su Xiaoxiao and Liu Cuilan.

"Why aren’t you sleeping at night, coming to my house?"

Chen Guifang and Su Zhiqiang exchanged a look, replied confidently: "You didn’t let us see our mom; can’t we come to visit her?"

Liu Cuilan gave her a look as if she were an idiot: "Am I stupid, or are you? If you had any filial piety, you wouldn’t have dumped her at my doorstep at the start."

"Speak quickly, or I’ll send both of you to the police station."

With a bang, Su Xiaoxiao slammed the stick in her hand on the table, making a loud noise that made the two jump.

"Little rascal! Talking is enough; why use your hands? Are you trying to scare someone to death?"

Chen Guifang patted her chest angrily, "I told the truth, but you won’t believe it; if you want to call the police, call them. Who’s afraid?"

Chen Guifang thought that after all, they had just jumped over a wall; they hadn’t stolen anything or committed any other offense, hardly enough to be a crime, at most getting a lecture.

Seeing the pair’s fearless attitude, Su Xiaoxiao smiled as she spoke: "Second Aunt, forgot to remind you that trespassing is illegal."

"How’s that illegal? We neither stole nor robbed; just passed through your home briefly."

Su Xiaoxiao: "Whose good person climbs walls to pass by?"

"If you don’t believe me, we can call the police directly, but by then, my cousin will probably have a criminal record."

Hearing this, Chen Guifang’s face immediately turned green; the boss had finally gotten a city wife, and her family had promised to arrange a good job for him. If this incident led to a criminal record, everything would be ruined.
