Chapter 188: She Equally Hates Every Rich Person

Chapter 188: She Equally Hates Every Rich Person

"Mr. Zhang, I advise you to think clearly before you speak."

Zhang Dongmei put the money into her pocket, covered it tightly with her hand, took several steps back, and then spoke.

"I wouldn’t lend to you even if I didn’t think clearly; for me to lend you something, I’d have to be dead."

She glared at Su Xiaoxiao with a face full of hostility, her eyes brimming with caution.

Just then, a young lady with delicate features walked up behind them. Upon seeing Zhang Dongmei, she said, "Mr. Zhang, good morning. How did the matter with the diamond ring you asked about for your fiancé go last time?"

This lady was named Qian Xiaoyan, of medium height, wearing an orange floral top, a matching plain skirt, and white heels. Because of her fair skin, the vibrant color looked particularly striking on her; although her features weren’t extraordinarily stunning, her lively almond eyes were bright and captivating.

Her family was well-off, and her fiancé was reportedly young and a secretary to a high official, hence naturally wealthy, and generous with his spending.

Zhang Dongmei had been striving to curry favor with her at the department store.

It was said she wanted to buy a diamond ring for her wedding, so she eagerly agreed to help.

Who knew, her gold bracelet was fake, and the object of that Hong Kong businessman wasn’t from Hong Kong at all.

Thinking of this matter made Zhang Dongmei so angry she wanted to curse; that shameless dog of a man gave her a fake gold bracelet but swindled her out of over a hundred bucks.

Recalling this made her furious, but she must not let Qian Xiaoyan know, or all her efforts to please her would be wasted.

"Um, Comrade Qian, I’m really sorry, I just talked to my fiancé..."

Before Zhang Dongmei could finish, Su Xiaoxiao cut her off: "Oh, I suddenly remembered a funny thing. A friend of mine started dating a boyfriend who bought her a gold bracelet the other day. Guess what, that big gold bracelet..."

Before she could finish, Zhang Dongmei interrupted: "Comrade Su, didn’t you just say you wanted to borrow my food stamps? How much do you need? We’re all colleagues, I will certainly lend it to you, I was just joking earlier."

Zhang Dongmei gritted her teeth, afraid she would spill the beans in front of Qian Xiaoyan.

Su Xiaoxiao then stopped, smiling at her: "Not much, just lend me fifteen kilos."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Dongmei was about to explode; she only had fifteen kilos in total, and this blasted girl planned to borrow it all.

If looks could kill, she would have Su Xiaoxiao executed by a thousand cuts, having never seen such shamelessness before.

But, unfortunately, with Qian Xiaoyan present, she still hoped to leave a good impression, unable to shed her polite façade.

She forced a smile: "Comrade Su, I’m really sorry, I don’t have that much, how about I lend you ten kilos?"

This was already her biggest concession.

"Great, thanks a lot, Mr. Zhang."

Su Xiaoxiao beamed and spread her hand; she had initially intended to borrow ten kilos.

Had she asked earlier, Zhang Dongmei probably wouldn’t have lent anything, but now... compared to borrowing it all, lending a majority seemed much more acceptable.

Upon hearing this, Qian Xiaoyan said, "Comrade Su, are you borrowing food stamps? I happen to have a few kilos; if you need them, I can lend them all to you."

Su Xiaoxiao did not expect Qian Xiaoyan to be so generous, even offering proactively; truly deserving of a wealthy family.

"Of course, thank you, Comrade Qian."

Seafood and dry goods are the more, the better.

Qian Xiaoyan counted the food stamps from her purse for her, seeing her holding out what seemed like a handful of various stamps, Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but marvel at her wealth.

Under her gaze, Qian Xiaoyan felt a bit embarrassed: "They are all from my fiancé."

Zhang Dongmei jealously flattered, "Comrade Qian, your fiancé really treats you well."

Su Xiaoxiao nodded along, "Exactly, really enviable. But Comrade Qian is beautiful and kind-hearted; having such a good fiancé is only right."

Qian Xiaoyan was flattered to the point of blushing: "Oh, come on, you’re exaggerating."

Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but ask, "Comrade Qian, now that you’ve given all the stamps to me, won’t you be buying seafood or dry goods yourself?"

Qian Xiaoyan shook her head: "I prefer fresh ones. Plus, what’s sold here isn’t as good as at home, so there’s no need."

Su Xiaoxiao: "..."

Such a Versailles moment! Yet, her words didn’t come off as showy at all.

Well, it’s because she has that capability.

Just then, Chen Meilan walked up and reminded them, "We’re about to open; if you don’t come in now, you’ll be late."

Being reminded, the four suddenly remembered that being late meant a pay docking.

Su Xiaoxiao reacted the fastest and darted inside, getting stuck with Zhang Dongmei at the half-open door.

Zhang Dongmei glared, "Su Xiaoxiao, are you nuts? Come on, get out there."

Su Xiaoxiao glared back, "Why should I go out and not you? Don’t delay my work; hurry up and move back."

The two were stuck at the door, glaring at each other, Zhang Yulan unable to bear it: "Why don’t you both turn sideways?"

Su Xiaoxiao: "Zhang Dongmei, you’re fat; you turn first."

"Why should I go first?"

Zhang Dongmei refused, yielding to Su Xiaoxiao was worse than dying.

The sting she just took did not sit well, now trying to regain some ground.

The two kept bumping into each other, refusing to let the other enter first.

With time running out, Zhang Yulan urged, "Why don’t you both move aside, so I can go in first? We’re going to be late."

Upon hearing this, the two shuffled outward uniformly, clearing the entrance.

Zhang Yulan: "..."

Couldn’t they have just moved directly in? Did they have to compete?

With time ticking away, Zhang Yulan stepped into the store and called to Qian Xiaoyan, "Comrade Qian, we’re going to be late. Want to come inside?"

Qian Xiaoyan, excited, looked at the two: "No, no, the money they dock doesn’t even buy me a pen; I’d rather continue watching."

Damn! Su Xiaoxiao swore she equally disliked every rich person.

Under a curious gaze that seemed to study them like animals, the two suddenly lost interest in competing, exchanged a look, snorted, and stepped sideways through the door.

"Huh... you’re leaving already?"

Why did Qian Xiaoyan’s tone sound unexpectedly regretful?

As the three entered, the clock in the hall chimed, and Chen Meilan, right on time, opened the department store door to start the day’s business.

Due to the seafood dried goods, Zhang Yulan’s counter was particularly busy today, so much so that catching her breath took two attempts in the morning alone.

Having finally sold out all the seafood dry goods, she leaned on the counter, staring blankly ahead, feeling she might spit out a ghost at any moment.

Then, a middle-aged man, dressed in traditional attire, walking squarely, with hair slicked back, approached with casual ease.
