Chapter 345: Realm of Broken Skies (32) – Her Despair (4)

Chapter 345: Realm of Broken Skies (32) – Her Despair (4)

“A worthy warrior! What is this warrior’s name?” smiled Varathen as he asked the female Varnari.

She slightly shook her head, “Lord Varathen, I don’t know this human warrior’s name, but I know his physical characteristics; he was short, less than two meters tall, and was extremely handsome, the kind of handsome that would stand out even amongst Varnari, he had medium-length black hair reaching a little below his neck, and his eyes—”

A/N:

The thing with the use of ‘medium-length’ black hair to classify Mikael’s hair is simply because I wanted him to have a change in hairstyle, after all he had short hair since chapter 1…

So, as the years passed, he let his hair grow longer, which gradually shifted from his previous, more ‘classic’ and shorter hairstyle to one that was closer to the long hair style commonly seen in cultivation novels.

At the same time, even if it’s closer to long hair, it still isn’t quite that, since it’s not long black hair in a ponytail or anything of the sort, and is truly something in between long and short.(it reaches just below the neck)

Her voice, which had previously been relatively emotionless, gained a hint of vitality and became slightly higher-pitched, while the faintest blush appeared on her cheeks as she continued, “His eyes, they were like a swirling galaxy of purple that one could get lost into…”

“Cough.”

After half a second during which she got lost in the memory of those oh-so-beautiful eyes she had seen from afar, she returned to reality and coughed before continuing, “I also noticed that he was wearing deep black Taoist Robes on which there were highlights of silver, and the symbol on these Taoist robes was a silver sword in a lotus.”

“Wandering Sword Sect!”

“He is a Core Disciple of the Wandering Sword Sect!”

Nearly instantly, some quick-witted cultivators made the link, thanks to the Taoist Robe which was rather recognizable, and immediately identified that this mysterious and extremely talented human genius was probably a Core Disciple of the Wandering Sword Sect.

“Who is this Senior Brother!?”

“Eh? Who is it?”

Both Inner Disciples, Core Disciples, and even Elders from the Wandering Sword Sect were shocked as they learned that this heavenly genius was from their Sect!

Like… what!!!

How could it be possible that there was a heavenly genius in their Sect but… nobody knew about it!?

‘Who is it?’

At that moment, with a strong curiosity burning in their hearts, they frantically looked around them for a Core Disciple that matched the female Varnari’s description.

“!!!”

Of course that was the ‘general’ reaction in the Wandering Sword Sect, but some of these cultivators—notably those participating in the Hebdomary Core Disciples Meeting—instantly recognized the physical description used to describe this ‘heavenly genius’, causing their expressions to morph into one of unimaginable shock and stupor!

“Mikael… no, this isn’t possible! How could he be the one!?” murmured Brother Chen to himself in a stupefied and extremely low tone of voice, in a way that nobody except a couple of nearby disciples heard him speak to himself.

One of them, an Inner Disciple, turned toward his Senior Brother, his mouth half open, moments away from questioning Senior Brother Chen about this ‘Mikael’ he didn’t know a thing about, but just then—

“But…” the female Varnari once more began to speak, which instantly drew the attention of everyone present, these powerful cultivators diverting their focus away from the Wandering Sword Sect that they had previously been attentively observing in search of the heavenly genius.

As the female Varnari reached the end of the word ‘But’ she fell silent, replaying the scene she had witnessed and, more precisely, the sensation of their auras; as she did so, a mix of shock and awe couldn’t help but appear on her previously emotionless visage.

After some seconds spent in silence, and just as the crowd was beginning to ask themselves… ‘What is happening?’, she continued, “What was truly shocking with what I saw wasn’t this human fighting as an equal with Tharvonis, nor his handsomeness, nor anything of the sort, no…”

“What truly was, was this human’s aura and presence!”

“What do you mean?” inquired the flying Varathen, feeling a strong curiosity, as he knew that for the female Varnari to show her emotions this ‘vividly’, it was probably something truly exceptional!

“His aura was exceptionally ‘weak’...”

“?” The various cultivators only had the time to feel confused before they heard her next words, words which brought with them an unimaginable shock.

“This human genius’ Cultivation Realm was extremely low; I was far and couldn’t sense it precisely, but it was definitively in the Early Stage of the Spiritual Foundation Realm, and probably more in the line of the 1st or 2nd layer than the 3rd!”

“!!!”

“IMPOSSIBLE!”

A wave of agitation rippled through the crowd as several cultivators instinctively released a trace of their Qi and presence, losing control because of the overwhelming shock gripping them, shock that immediately showed on their faces as expressions that had previously been merely attentive now morphed into ones filled with disbelief, alarm, and even… fear!

None of them could reconcile the image of that terrifying human—one who was able to fight as an equal against the once-in-a-millennium genius that was Tharvonis, who stood at the PEAK of the Spiritual Foundation Realm—while only having just stepped into the Spiritual Foundation Realm!

“That… that can’t be right,” one of the older men muttered, his lips trembling as he stared at the girl as if begging her to take back her words.

“No Early-stage Spiritual Foundation Realm cultivator can have a battle power so exaggerated, not even an heavenly genius! Even the most prized disciples of the Top-Tier Forces of the Central Core don’t reach that level!”

“Are you absolutely sure of what you are saying, Elvani?”

Even Varathen, who knew the discipline of the disciples of his Sect couldn’t help but doubt the female Varnari which was named Elvani, claims because this was going far beyond all limits, this was truly… too ridiculous.

Yet no matter how much everyone doubted her, Elvani remained firmly still, her gaze unwavering.

“I’m not mistaken,” she said, her voice soft but unyielding, a faint quiver of awe threading through her tone. “His ‘Realm presence’ was incredibly thin…too thin, even at the distance I was and with my weak cultivation I should have felt his presence far more strongly if he were anywhere higher in his cultivation.”

“If he were anywhere above the first few layers, I would have felt it, his aura wasn't suppressed, it wasn’t concealed… it was simply weak.”

A heavy silence fell on the crowd at her words.

Then—

“That makes it even worse!”

“What kind of monster is this!?”

“Is he even human? How can someone with such a meager Cultivation Realm display that kind of battle power?”

Their voices rose in overlapping waves, each cultivator trying to rationalize the impossibility before them, yet every attempt only deepened their shock.

One woman took a step back without realizing it, clutching her robes as if steadying herself, “If, being only at the Early Stage Spiritual Foundation Realm, he can fight as equal and even… kill a genius like Tharvonis… then what will happen when he actually reaches Core Formation? Or worse… Core Perfection?”

A cold shiver swept through the gathered crowd, for the future implications of such a prodigy were terrifying in a way none of them dared to voice aloud.

A few cultivators exchanged uneasy glances, silently acknowledging the truth:

The Wandering Sword Sect… had birthed something far far beyond anything that was even remotely…resonable.

Something dangerous.

Something terrifying.

Something that would shake the world once it matured.

No one dared speak that final thought, but the fear and awe in their eyes conveyed everything.

“Sigh, and here I thought that Tharvonis was a once-in-a-millennium genius…” murmured a somewhat shocked Varathen before his grin widened, and soon enough he let out a joyous laugh, “Hahaha, to think Tharvonis would be so lucky, being able to die fighting an opponent this worthy… it really makes one jealous…”

Other Varnari didn’t voice their thoughts aloud thanks to their steel-like discipline, but from their visages and the glint in their eyes it was clear that pretty much all Varnari present were jealous of Tharvonis!

‘Lunatics!’

This honest display sent a cold shiver down the spines of nearly all the human cultivators present, none of them able to understand the ‘strange’ mentality of these death-seeking Varnari.

Varathen’s booming laughter, carrying with it faint hints of jealousy, continued to resound for some time before he ultimately calmed himself down, and then he quickly scanned the crowd, but this time not in search of Tharvonis but of a human who matched Elvani’s description, but—

‘He isn’t there?’ frowned Varathen as he scanned the crowd from one end to the other multiple times without finding a trace of this heavenly genius!

‘Is this a situation where both fought to the death? Where in the end neither survived or…’ his grin slowly dimmed, his expression darkening as the next line of thought surfaced in his mind, ‘is the situation different from what I expected… maybe… maybe someone took advantage of their fight and ambushed them!?’

“Elvani, do you know what happened precisely during the fight and why neither this human genius nor Tharvonis are here!”

Varathen’s words resounded like thunder in the minds of everyone present, and especially so in the hearts of Kiara, Lyra, Bai Yulan and Bai Lifen, who had all recognized Mikael from the description provided but weren’t near Lian’er and consequently hadn’t seen her earlier ‘spectacle’.

Which is why, the instant they heard the burly Varnari’s words, their hearts skipped a beat and their expressions darkened drastically as they were hit with a terrible premonition!

Shake.

Meanwhile the female Varnari slightly shook her head, “I don’t know what happened precisely, because as Tharvonis and the human genius were fighting they moved far too fast for me to follow, so after a short while I completely lost track of them, but—”

“She!” Elvani pointed toward Lian’er, who stood beside Amelia looking somewhat crazed, “may know something. I saw that as Tharvonis and the human genius were continuously fighting, she was always following them from some distance, so perhaps this Core Disciple of the Wandering Sword Sect knows something…”

“!!!”

“Is that so…?” murmured Varathen as his gaze landed on Lian’er, and when he took in her crazed, disheveled, and ‘dirty’ appearance he wasn’t disgusted or disdainful in the slightest, quite the opposite in fact.

Because the moment he saw her like this, he was instantly convinced she must know something; after all, why else would she look like that?

Varathen’s thoughts weren’t isolated, as the instant Elvani pointed at Lian’er, the attention of the entire crowd locked onto her, and while some of them frowned and gained disgusted expressions at her appearance, not everyone reacted so… shallowly.

In any large crowd there were always fools, but the number of sharp-minded individuals was not small either, and consequently a considerable portion of cultivators reached a reasoning similar to Varathen’s, which made them observe Lian’er attentively and without the slightest trace of disdain.

“Core Disciple of the Wandering Sword Sect, do you know what happened to Tharvonis and the human genius?” inquired Varathen, his tone calm and composed, his aura restrained and his presence contained; he wasn’t using his Cultivation Realm to pressure her, he was simply asking a question.

And this was the main reason why Qiu Yuelan, who for once wasn’t lazy and was watching everything attentively, didn’t intervene even though the state of the usually mischievous Lian’er worried her.

———

A/N:

Mikael who has mysteriously disappeared—I wonder where he is and even if he is alive?(the question is rather obvious considering he is the protagonist…)—is flexing, because is now a little too strong and awe the crowd.

Of course that’s the crowd reaction when he isn’t there, who knows what would be their reaction if he was there(maybe somebody would act to smother him before he could grow into an unstoppable threat?)

At the same time Lian’er is the last witness and is about to get questioned, nothing will happen with her current unstable mindset…right?
