Chapter 42: M12 grade sirloin

Chapter 42: M12 grade sirloin

"Alexander, I will remember you! Just wait! Even if I can’t kill you in the instance, I won’t let you go in the real world!" Jiang Ping said viciously.

"Come at me, I’ve never been afraid of anyone in my life!" Alexander replied arrogantly.

In reality, Alexander had no intention of letting him go. If he made an enemy of him and didn’t kill him, it would be a big problem in the future.

With billions of people in the world, there must be tens of thousands named Alexander. The horrifying instance distorted both voice and appearance, making it impossible to remember after leaving. What could they find with just a name?

By the time they figured out his identity, Alexander, with his Ghost Chef, Ghost Cooking, and impressive Social skills, would already be beyond their reach.

"Everyone, stop arguing! This is a horrifying instance. We should be helping each other. Only by uniting can we survive to the end!" said Carl, a tall and fat middle-aged man, with a kind and honest smile on his face.

"Unity? It’s useless here!" A gloomy voice echoed, and everyone turned around. It was the manager, in a black robe, hovering in the air.

He scanned everyone, and when his eyes fell on Alexander, he sneered, "I didn’t expect you to survive this long!"

"Thanks to your care!" Alexander retorted nonchalantly. After all, he had already offended the manager, so there was no need to give him face.

The manager’s face darkened, he snorted but didn’t pursue the matter further.

He opened the folder in his hand and began to speak, "Carl, customer satisfaction rating: one three-star, one four-star, and one two-star. The good and bad cancel each other out, no penalty.

Jiang Ping, customer satisfaction rating: one four-star, one one-star. Penalty, 300 ghost coins.

Jessica, customer satisfaction rating: one four-star, two three-stars. Reward, 150 ghost coins."

One by one, the names were read out, and those who were called either rejoiced or worried. Jiang Ping glared at Alexander with more resentment, while Jessica and another person who worked in the backyard were overjoyed.

Indeed, the reward of 150 ghost coins for the first mission in such a difficult instance was definitely a big win for the newcomers!

At last, the manager looked at Alexander with unwillingness but still coldly said, "Alexander, customer satisfaction rating: one five-star. With VIP area double bonus and the title of excellent employee, the reward is 600 ghost coins."

Well, a single customer actually awarded a whopping 600 ghost coins, making the others envious. Except for Jiang Ping who had been screwed over by Alexander, they all felt it was well-deserved. After all, they had all seen how terrifying the red-clothed female ghost was.

Alexander calmly accepted the reward. To him, 600 coins were nothing, not even worth as much as the eyeballs he could pick out in a bathroom.

The manager didn’t care about Alexander’s attitude, and with a sinister laugh, he said, "Next, I will have someone take you to the dormitory building behind the warehouse courtyard. There’s food in the small building, you’ll have to find it yourselves!"

"There, I will not go, so there are no rules! Understand?"

As he asked this, the manager first looked at Alexander, then finally directed his gaze, with clear implications, at Jiang Ping.

"Understood! Of course, I understood!" Jiang Ping got the hint, a malicious smile on his face as he fixed his gaze on Alexander.

Clearly, the manager’s words were hinting to Jiang Ping that there were no rules in the dormitory building, so he was free to deal with his enemy, Alexander, however he wanted. Now he didn’t need to find an excuse or wait for a time when no one was around to make a move!

The manager waved his hand, and a pale-faced, numb ghost servant walked over, telling them to follow him as he led the way.

Passing through the backyard, close to the warehouse, was a small three-story building. Compared to the restaurant, this place felt more like a horrifying instance.

Windows were shattered by unknown means, a rope was hanging from the tree branches, and at the door, two skeletons were arranged in a welcoming position.

The interior of the building was even more dilapidated, with piles of messy items strewn everywhere, all covered in fresh blood. It was as if a gang had gone mad with blades, slashing at each other here for half an hour.

Occasionally, among the piles of wood and debris, you could see a pale hand, or a rotting leg, or a human head that would grin creepily as you approached.

Everyone’s faces turned pale, even the experienced Jiang Ping. Looking at this, it was clear that the night would not be peaceful.

"Let’s find something to eat first! Didn’t they say there’s food here? Being scared is useless, we haven’t eaten anything all day! If we don’t eat something now, we won’t be able to make it through tomorrow! Let’s take turns keeping watch later!" Carl, the kind-hearted, successful man in real life who seemed to have some status, was calm and quickly made a proposal.

Having experienced a day of fear and exhaustion and only drinking water, everyone was indeed hungry and started to search the room.

There was no shortage of water. Although there were no water pipes, there was a well in the courtyard.

It wasn’t difficult to operate the water pump: pour a bit of water on it, push the handle back and forth to pump the air out of the tube, and the water from the well would be brought up by pressure. The well water here was incredibly sweet, as if sugar had been added.

There were several water buckets in the small building, already filled with water, ready to drink, even enough for a bath. But as for food, they had to find it themselves, especially in this gloomy environment, where turning over a waste paper basket could reveal a head or a leg, so everyone was being extra careful.

Alexander did not participate, but he remembered the location of each terrifying object in his heart. It was not the time yet, but when everyone was fast asleep at night, he could start making his fortune.

The restaurant’s owner was not simple, the small building was full of dozens of plugins. Alexander estimated that if sold, they would be worth over twenty thousand. The value would certainly be higher based on the shopping mall price.

Since he couldn’t act now, he would have to eat first. He took out the piece of ghost meat from the storage column, used a broken iron bucket as a griddle, and prepared to fry a steak.

"I’ve found it, I’ve found the food!" Suddenly, Jiang Ping excitedly pulled out a large cardboard box from a pile of ruins.

"Canned food, and so much of it!"

Jiang Ping triumphantly picked up a can, and as soon as he opened it, a slightly fishy smell filled the air, revealing a mass of dark matter inside.

When the entire box of cans was opened, only four were intact, but even these had a yellowish hue and didn’t smell like anything appetizing.

"It’s good that we have something to eat. It seems that this box of canned food is all we have. Let’s split it! Jiang Ping, since you found these, you get one can, and we share the rest, how about that?" Carl spoke to mediate.

"Sure!" Jiang Ping, who got the most, naturally had no objection, but with a twist in his eyes, he said, "We can share, but since I found the food and Alexander is my enemy, he can’t get a share!"

"This..." Jessica and others were a bit hesitant, but before they could speak, Carl stepped up.

He first gave the opened can to Jiang Ping, then started to distribute the remaining cans: "This is for the two of you, this is mine, and this one... girls eat less, so the three of you will have to share one, that’s a perfect split."

After speaking, he didn’t care about the others’ opinions and prepared to eat his own portion. He was starving.

Watching this scene, Jiang Ping took a big bite of his can, and said with satisfaction, "Where’s Alexander? Hiding because he knows he doesn’t get a share? Smart! This is what happens when you cross me!"

The taste of the canned food was not good. It tasted like corn stubble mixed with some coarse grain and a strange flavor of inferior oil.

But it was good to have something to eat at this moment!

Thinking of Alexander still going hungry, Jiang Ping was exceptionally satisfied.

However, just then, a light suddenly lit up on the first floor, and soon, a tempting aroma of meat wafted up.

Following that, the sizzling sound of fat exploding at high temperature also reached everyone’s ears clearly.

"This familiar smell..." Carl took a deep breath, stunned, "Steak! This is a sirloin steak, and it’s a top-quality M12 snowflake sirloin!"

M12 grade sirloin? That legendary steak priced in grams of gold?

Good lord, they were here, trying to survive the horror, eating spoiled canned food.

Downstairs, someone was cooking a meal, and even frying a steak worth more than gold!
