Chapter 320: Emptying Cangshan City was now within reach

Chapter 320: Emptying Cangshan City was now within reach

A man in a business suit, accompanied by two natives dressed in police uniforms, rushed over, his face flushed with panic.

Alexander had seen this man in a previous cycle; he was the captain of the law enforcement police force. Like Owen, this guy seemed to have been promoted, as the two accompanying him were also dressed in captain’s uniforms.

"What’s happened, Mark? Why the rush?" Duplicate number two quickly asked upon seeing him.

"Hell warriors!" Mark blurted out, his face fraught with urgency.

"Just now, for some reason, all the hell warrior camps suddenly opened their gates, and all the hell warriors are patrolling. Over a dozen of them are headed this way!"

At this, the face of duplicate number two also changed. Given the scale of their current operation, it was unlikely the hell warriors would be as lenient as before.

"It looks like... we need to retreat. Probably, our activities—especially the breakthrough by number 16—have attracted them. Let’s move to another location."

"There’s no need to change locations. I think this place is quite good," a voice suddenly chimed in. Alexander himself stepped forward, his disguise dissipating.

"Boss!" The faces of all the duplicates lit up with delight.

"Well done!" Alexander couldn’t help but compliment. Indeed, this clever operation was something even he hadn’t thought of—efficient and streamlined.

Great job!

"Your praise is too kind, Boss! However, the arrival of the hell warriors..." Duplicate number two paused, considering Alexander’s statement, and then asked, "Boss, do you have a way to deal with these hell warriors? If they have any means of communicating information and we take direct action, it could stir up a hornet’s nest!"

"It’s good that they’re coming," Alexander said, "If they didn’t come, I’d have to find a way to draw them out. This saves me the trouble!"

"I get it, great idea!" Seeing the Dimensional Confinement Card and the Perfect Identity Card in Alexander’s hands, all the duplicates’ eyes sparkled.

This scared the nearby natives and law enforcers. Mark looked particularly anxious, saying, "Mr. Alexander, you mustn’t act rashly. These are hell warriors! Angering them could cause monumental trouble, maybe even attracting the Guardians."

"Don’t worry! You guys leave first; we’ll handle the rest," Alexander said dismissively, waving his hand.

The crowd of natives scattered like startled birds.

"Hold it right there!"

Just then, a booming voice erupted, accompanied by the sound of hooves. A dozen hell warriors, donned in black helmets and armor, gripping long blades, marched down the distant street.

To the natives, the presence of hell warriors was terrifying, just as law enforcers held a fatal influence over the ordinary natives. Indeed, the million-plus natives seemed to halt in their tracks at the warriors’ command.

"What’s going on here? I’ve already sensed more than one Ghost Emperor’s aura emanating from this place!" The leading hell warrior, his long blade in hand, looked on icily.

But the next moment, his expression froze. He saw Alexander standing at the back of the crowd.

It’s him!

The hell warrior leader’s face twisted instantly, his grip tightening on his blade. At the end of the last cycle, strict orders had been issued—should they encounter this man again, he was to be killed on sight.

Just as he was about to make his move, the hell warrior leader spotted the duplicates standing behind Alexander.

What the hell? Why are there so many?

For a moment, the hell warrior was stunned, his brain momentarily short-circuiting. But while he hesitated, Alexander did not. Sensing the hell warrior leader’s involuntary motion, Alexander knew that it wouldn’t be that simple.

The man wanted him dead.

During their last encounter, the hell warrior leader had mistaken him for some sort of inspector. Now, it appeared he intended to kill him outright. Clearly, something had changed.

Alexander surmised that it probably had something to do with the chaos he’d stirred up in Cangshan City during the last cycle.

"Strike!"

But this did not deter his plans. With a resounding shout, Alexander and a dozen Emperor-level duplicates vanished from their spots and appeared behind the ten hell warriors.

"My friends, we meet again!"

His face beaming, Alexander’s hand was quick as lightning. He deployed the Dimensional Confinement Card instantaneously.

A gray mist shot through the air, and before the expressions of shock could fade from the faces of the hell warriors, they were sucked into another dimension, their anguished roars dissipating into the ether.

"It seems the effect has strengthened! Is it because of my increased power?"

Alexander was a little surprised; he had been concerned the Confinement Card wouldn’t work and had a lethal move prepared just in case. Turns out, it wasn’t needed. This was a good thing; at least the hell warriors had no chance to send out any information.

The Perfect Identity Card in his hand glimmered, and Alexander’s appearance rapidly changed. He donned the black armor and helmet and even replicated the long blade in his hand.

A chilling, sinister aura swirled around Alexander’s mind, but surprisingly, memories about the hell warrior leader didn’t manifest.

In fact, even the attribute panel for the hell warrior didn’t appear in Alexander’s attribute column.

Has the Perfect Identity Card failed?

Alexander instinctively looked up and gestured towards the warhorse left behind by the hell warrior leader. The horse obediently trotted over and knelt before him.

This scene suddenly enlightened Alexander. Perhaps the hell warrior was a unique existence, not part of the Mist system, and that’s why there was no attribute panel.

As long as the Perfect Identity Card was effective, Alexander’s plans could proceed.

Emptying Cangshan City was now within reach.

As Alexander rode back to the crowd on his warhorse, blade in hand, the million-plus natives shivered in unison.

That was a hell warrior, after all!

To the natives, a hell warrior was an unbeatable, terrifying existence. The appearance of multiple Alexanders had already been unnerving enough.

But Alexander’s immense wealth had conveniently eclipsed that fear—after all, who would complain about a rich benefactor?

Now, that benefactor had killed and replaced a hell warrior. This was beyond shocking.

"Don’t mind us, carry on!"

Alexander waved his hand, signaling the assembly line to resume operations. Despite their apprehensions, the lure of escaping the cycle rekindled the natives’ enthusiasm.

Watching these natives scramble over each other to proceed, Alexander sighed inwardly.

They would never know that all their efforts were in vain. Not just the cycle within the city, but Cangshan City itself was part of a larger cycle. Eventually, everything would be destroyed by the hell warriors, and everything would reset.

Alexander remembered that last look he took during the previous cycle. Not only the natives but also the enforcers were massacred. The only exceptions were those few dining halls.

But even the enforcers who managed to escape the cycle had their memories preserved by the Mist system, nothing more.

The assembly line quickly resumed operations.

"Boss!"

A duplicate, also dressed as a hell warrior, approached and handed over a storage ring. "This is what I’ve collected these past days!"

Alexander took the storage ring and glanced inside. Despite being mentally prepared, he was still taken aback.

Such a large number!
