Chapter 281: Our allies are on the other side

Chapter 281: Our allies are on the other side

Certainly not Dolly!

Alexander knew full well that Dolly was a guardian in white, likely an adversary. To summon her now would be foolish.

These days, Alexander scarcely returns to the real world, let alone summon Dolly.

The secret weapon he spoke of is a one-time ghost skill obtained from a "Mist Instance"—Hell Curse!

Hell Curse

Tier: Special, One-time skill

Description: This is the ultimate spectral skill from a Ghost Emperor. Though the Emperor met his demise failing to break a curse on the 38th bus, this innate ability transformed into a peculiar energy, lying in wait for its fated owner.

Function: By channeling one’s ghostly energy, you can build up power. The more power stored, the greater the impact. Upon release, it forms a death array based on the amount of ghostly energy channeled. Within this array, one-tenth of the ghostly energy can be used to summon battle ghosts. The battle ghosts remain as long as the energy persists.

Note: This skill is too powerful and can only be used once. After use, the skill vanishes!

Ghostly Energy Storage: 2.39 trillion.

In the Graveyard Community, Alexander had nearly exhausted his Ghost Food reserves in search of the hidden "forbidden" power within them. Initially, he dispelled his ghostly energy directly, but that was wasteful.

Ultimately, Alexander considered using this one-time skill, Hell Curse—a skill of nuclear weapon caliber without any limitations.

After consuming over 200,000 soldier-level Ghost Food, his stored energy reached more than two trillion.

Even Ghost King-level battle ghosts could be summoned—more than 2,000 of them. If he were to summon the lowest-level evil spirits, he could summon a hundred million.

To others, evil spirits might just be numbers, hardly influential in large-scale combat. But Alexander had the "forbidden" power, which could be directly attached to the ghost skill.

The terrifying thing about the "forbidden" power was that even a trace could grant the battle ghosts the strength to crush ordinary evil spirits. Ten million battle ghosts with "forbidden" power would be far more terrifying in the horror world than nuclear weapons.

The reason for going into the heart of the enemy lines was because even Alexander couldn’t ascertain how extensive the range of this ghost skill would be.

"Are you sure about this?" Even knowing that Alexander had created countless miracles before, Edward was still somewhat worried.

But there was no time for further discussion; the enemy was less than a kilometer away from Dark Hell.

"Where is Alice?"

At the forefront of the grand army, Yao hovered in the air, full of confidence and swagger.

"The army stands before your city today! Hand over Louis and Alexander promptly if you wish to avoid the fate of ruin!"

"Ugly as sin, but you dream pretty," Alexander floated into the sky, countering the arrogance.

"So, you’re Alexander? Kevin has quite an impression of you; he even sent me especially to fetch you. Now that I see you, it seems you’re not much. Where is your female Emperor? Did she run away at our arrival?"

"The female Emperor is not in the city; I’m acting as the city lord for now," Alexander replied, but his gaze never left the area behind Yao. To be precise, it was fixed on Ares, who had flown in with Yao.

Isn’t that Juwel?

Juwel was a local celebrity on Happy Street. His works were well-known throughout Dark Hell—not for their quality, but their sheer volume.

In a world where ghosts have no lifespan limit and ordinary ghost citizens hardly go out, Juwel’s novels were a popular way to pass time.

His prolific output was the bread and butter for countless ghosts. Alexander had even lamented his absence for a while.

Unexpectedly, in just a few days, Juwel had become a Ghost Emperor!

Ares caught Alexander’s gaze and winked at him.

That single gesture instantly put Alexander at ease.

Stable! Juwel is still Juwel!

If he really intended to wage war against him, there would be no need for such subtleties.

However...

What about the guy next to him? He must be another inheritance Ghost Emperor. Why is he winking at me too? He even looks a bit familiar!

Just as Alexander was puzzled, Callum realized that he had not been recognized and felt a wave of emotion.

"Ah, truly a virtuous doctor! Saving countless lives, you’ve even forgotten my face. Such selfless benevolence!"

If Dr. Charles bestowed his favor without expecting anything in return, how could Callum, an inheritance Ghost Emperor, be the sort to ignore a good deed?

Seeing that his wink had gone unnoticed, Callum silently mouthed two words: "Dr. Charles."

In an instant, Alexander’s mind thundered with recognition, fully realizing who stood before him.

While Alexander communicated silently with Callum, Yao’s gaze shifted to the army behind Alexander in Dark Hell.

Noticing the legion belonging to the Fierce Ghost Association, his pupils slightly constricted. Only after surveying the entire army did he speak again.

"Unexpectedly, Dark Hell has hidden such a force. Had we not united with other powers, the outcome would indeed be uncertain.

Unfortunately for you, today it’s not just us from Endless Abyss City but also Ares Ghost Emperor and Callum Ghost Emperor! You, just a soldier-level chosen one, have become the acting city lord. Ha, ridiculous!"

"Yes, ridiculous!" Ares nodded, winking at Alexander.

"Ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous!" Callum joined in, also winking at Alexander.

"You scoundrels!" Alexander’s face flushed a vivid red, appearing furious. Yao, seeing this, broke into even louder peals of derisive laughter.

"What’s the use of a war of words! Let’s settle this on the battlefield!"

Alexander roared, turning to rejoin his troops. He was afraid, yes. Afraid he might burst into laughter any moment now.

It was almost laughably ironic. Yao’s so-called allies turned out to be old friends of Alexander. What were the odds?

"Hold on!" Yao watched as Alexander angrily turned to leave, a cold smirk spreading across his face.

"You dare to come up here alone and think you can leave? Mr. Acting City Lord, are you deluded?"

"Ah, you want to detain our city lord? I’d say it’s you who is deluded." A voice abruptly erupted, accompanied by a swirling mist of grayish energy. Blizzard and Emperor Kui appeared beside Alexander.

"Emperor Kui? I’ve long heard of you, but with just you and—Blizzard, the Female Emperor!" Yao, initially brimming with self-assurance, was stunned the moment he saw Blizzard.

Blizzard’s reputation was carved out when she fought to position Alice as a city lord. Particularly her role in the destruction of the City of Sin made her name resound throughout the horror world.

She had single-handedly defeated a city— a city that was in no way inferior to today’s Endless Abyss and, in some senses, even surpassed it.

In a single night, that city was annihilated.

Yao instinctively took a step back, almost colliding with Ares and Callum behind him. He breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing them and the two other Ghost Emperors beside them.

"So what if you’re here? We have five Ghost Emperors on our side. Do you really think you and Emperor Kui can stop us from killing Alexander?"

"Why don’t you give it a try?" Emperor Kui stepped in front of Alexander.

"I can’t be sure if we can stop you from killing Alexander," Blizzard nodded, her eyes flashing with icy ferocity as she stared at Yao, "but one thing’s certain. You’d die before he does."

Yao shivered involuntarily and looked at Ares and Callum with a hopeful expression. "Can you handle it?"

"Tricky," Ares wore a troubled look. "We might be inheritance Ghost Emperors, but we’ve only recently inherited the power. It’s still unstable."

"Yeah, unstable," Callum chimed in, nodding in agreement.

"The point is, we’re dealing with Blizzard," Ares continued. "The pile of Ghost Emperors who’ve died at her hands could form a mountain. If she wants to kill one, who could stop her?"

"Exactly! Unstoppable!" Callum nodded vigorously.

"But don’t worry," Ares patted Yao’s shoulder. "Even if we can’t stop her, we’ll avenge you. Right, Callum?"

"Absolutely! We’ll definitely avenge you!" Callum continued to nod.

Yao was baffled. Didn’t inheritance Ghost Emperors directly inherit all power, including combat experience and control over their abilities?

Unfortunately, he wasn’t an inheritance Ghost Emperor himself, nor was Mr. K, so he couldn’t fathom the nuances of their inheritance.

Ares and Callum’s acting was far from Oscar-worthy, but Yao never dreamed that these two would also turn out to be old friends of Alexander.

Yao looked back at Blizzard, fear washing over him like a tidal wave. Her gaze was as sharp as a razor, as though she could slit his throat at any moment.

"So, do you still want to keep me here?" Alexander said, struggling to suppress a chuckle.

"I was merely jesting," Ares boomed, positioning himself behind Yao.

"With our combined strength, do we really need to resort to such petty tricks? Go ahead, summon your troops. Let’s settle this on the battlefield." Ares surreptitiously winked at Alexander.

"Indeed! When our three cities unite, every other force is merely a slime! Prepare to die!" Callum subtly winked at Alexander too.

"Well said!" Yao exclaimed with a grin. "Alexander, we’ll join forces to besiege you today. Any tricks you’ve got up your sleeve, better use them now!"

"Fine! Just don’t regret it later. You two better keep up," Alexander spoke and turned toward the army of Dark Hell.

Watching the trio depart, Yao finally let out a sigh of relief, sneering a little.

"Chosen ones, a bunch of fools. As if we need him to worry about the alliance among our three cities. What, is he trying to sow discord among us?"

"Exactly, who needs to sow discord between us?" Ares agreed. Before Yao could react, Ares added, "Let’s hurry back and command our troops. We can’t let them get the upper hand!"

Yao had no suspicions and returned with them to the army formation.

"What’s our strategy?" he inquired eagerly upon rejoining the troops. Although it was an alliance with Endless Abyss and two other cities, they had inheritance Ghost Emperors representing them; due respect must be given.

"We have overwhelming power on our side, no need for tactics. Yao, you give the orders; we’ll follow your lead," Ares said.

"That’s right! With the ten million ghost soldiers of Endless Abyss leading, and us supporting from the sides, we’ll follow your orders and charge forward!"

Seeing the two inheritance Ghost Emperors acting so obedient, Yao waved his hand and commanded, "All troops listen! Endless Abyss forces take the lead! Armies from Netherworld and Undead City follow! Attack!"

Meanwhile, in the Dark Hell camp, Alexander looked rather excited. Although puzzled, someone couldn’t help but caution:

"Lord Alexander, perhaps reconsider leading the charge? It’s extremely dangerous! Even if your secret weapon is powerful, don’t act rashly!"

"Secret weapon? Unnecessary," Alexander waved a hand dismissively. "This is just Endless Abyss. No need for any secret weapons.

Members of Fierce Ghost Association, follow the previous plan and attack! Capture everyone; don’t let a single one escape!"

At this command, everyone was stunned. Why such aggression now, not just directing the army forward, but also seeking to encircle and annihilate the enemy?

"Alexander, what’s going on? Did you see something?" Tony asked, his eyes lighting up.

"Ah, you know me well!" A grin finally broke through Alexander’s restrained expression. Pointing ahead, he declared, "Don’t worry, attack freely. Our allies are on the other side!"
