Chapter 584: Immortal Herb
Chapter 584: Immortal Herb
So, it was normal to find that among a thousand immortals, only a handful had contract beasts. And most of those with contract beasts had gotten them by contracting with beasts eggs.
So, this group of people was very lucky to have stumbled upon the ancient battlefield and managed to contract with demon beasts who had stayed there for tens of thousands of years and just wanted to leave.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy to form contracts even if those demon beasts were beaten to death.
Luckily, Chu Miao had been smart enough to bring out a few more demon beasts and even some beast eggs before the ancient battlefield disappeared again.
In this way, Grandpa Chu and the others could also contract with strong demon beasts.
Crossing over this part of the forest proves that it wasn’t as easy as they had expected.
The further they went, the colder it became. The cold became so intense that even with a protective barrier, it still seeped into their bodies and etched itself into the bones.
Now they needed not only to use spiritual energy to form a protective barrier around themselves, they also had to use it to warm up their bodies.
In this way, the consumption rate of spiritual energy doubled.
To keep themselves from freezing, the group found that they had to constantly keep a barrier on, use energy to warm up their blood and flesh, and also absorb spiritual energy from the surroundings and the crystal cores in their hands.
This was not just multitasking, it was tritasking. And they couldn’t neglect any, otherwise, they would freeze within seconds.
"This is more challenging than killing zombies." Murong Yi commented as they walked.
Their walking speed had also slowed down due to the amount of energy required.
"The road to getting stronger isn’t easy. However, I am guessing that by the end of this training, we would have improved quite a bit." Jing Xian sighed.
"That’s true. If I leave here and can’t kill that zombie king, then all this struggle is for naught." Lei Ying added.
Ye Xuan looked at his brothers who have been through life and death with him and smiled.
Even though he voluntarily gave up his Immortal status to come down to the lower realm to look for his beloved queen, he was glad to have met such incredible people.
Moreover, on earth relationships are much simpler.
Unlike in the Immortal Realm where even family was veiled by benefits, the relationship between families and friends on earth were more genuine.
He wasn’t afraid of leaving his back to his brothers here because he knew that they would die before they betrayed him.
Unlike in the Immortal Realm where benefits could turn the best of brothers to enemies in moments.
He hoped that once his brothers stepped into the immortal realm, they wouldn’t be corrupted and become the same as those people there.
After two days of walking non-stop, the challenge became even tougher.
The group came across a ten foot python with the thickness of a human.
It was guarding a short plant that resembled a herb with blue leaves like every other plant in that area but it was blooming with white and black flowers.
"How could there be an Immortal herb here?" Black Tortoise asked in shock when it saw the herb.
"This is an Immortal herb?" Chu Miao asked in surprise.
"Yes. And it’s a very rare herb even in the Immortal Realm. It’s called the spirit changing elixir. With this herb those who cultivated spiritual energy can convert it to immortal qi after eating two petals from the blooming flowers." Black Tortoise explained.
"So, which petals should be eaten? The black or white?" Li Kun asked curiously.
"Both. It only works if you eat one black and one white petal. However, the process of converting the spiritual energy to immortal qi is painful. You have to endure the pain of your bones breaking and your meridians shattering to succeed. So, it’s not that easy."
"Id it that complicated? But now we have seen this herb but after picking it, won’t the flowers either?" Pei Ming asked.
"We can use jade boxes to store the herb then it can be placed in the warehouse for now until we need it." Chu Miao replied thoughtfully.
"Mmm.... that’s a good idea, but before that, we should take care of that python first. It should be the guardian of the herb." Ye Xuan commented when he saw everyone getting carried away.
"That’s true. But this python doesn’t seem easy to deal with. Moreover, if we fight, we will use even more spiritual energy and I doubt our bodies can last long enough to finish the fight." Murong Yi said in frustration.
"Why not let the contract beasts fight? There are many of them and the python is alone. I don’t believe it can beat so many demon beasts on its own." Chu Hao suggested and everyone felt that it was the best idea.
"That’s true, but we have to draw it away from the herb first. If not, once the fight starts, the herb will probably be trampled on and ruined." Gu Fan said.
"Yeah, but who will do such a risky job?" Li Kun asked.
"Didn’t we agree it’s the contract beasts that will do the fighting? Leave that to them too." Chu Miao said and everyone turned to look at her.
Seeing the way they were looking at her like she was insane, Chu Miao realized that apart from Ye Xuan, the others had never seen a battle between contract beasts.
So, it was normal that they didn’t know contract beasts could fight without their masters.
Without a word, Chu Miao ordered Little White to change its size then she picked it up and threw it at the python.
"Hey, master, that’s not cool at all. How can you toss me to the enemy so carelessly? What if I am swallowed by their ugly beast?" Little White complained as it landed on top of the python’s head.
Without wasting time, the tiger jumped down in front of the python to make sure it was spotted.
