Chapter 780 - 784: A Pearl Earring
Chapter 780 - 784: A Pearl Earring
Damn it!
Feeling his unusual emotions, Leng Zimo cursed silently in his heart.
He actually desired a girl who cried in the graveyard, a girl whose face he hadn’t even seen, merely from a glance at her back!
He must be insane!
Turning around abruptly, Leng Zimo strode away from the bushes and ran to the nearby creek. He scooped up the icy creek water and washed his face several times, finally suppressing that strange emotion.
He raised his hand, wiping the droplets off his face, and let out a long sigh.
Suddenly standing up again, he walked back towards the bushes.
A woman who could make him lose his composure, he at least wanted to see what she looked like.
By the bushes, there was no longer any sign of her.
Leng Zimo raised an eyebrow as he looked down the path, where he saw a tall woman hurrying down the hill, her fitted black suit highlighting her slender yet graceful figure.
It seemed she was walking too hastily—her body swayed violently on the steps and she almost fell. His heart tightened, but fortunately, she quickly steadied herself and didn’t actually fall, easing his concern.
The woman’s figure soon disappeared behind the trees, out of sight.
Leng Zimo pursed his dry lips, withdrew his gaze, and turned to leave when something on the grass caught his eye.
It was a pearl earring, with a round, white pearl set on it.
Leng Zimo leaped over the bushes, bent down, and picked up the pearl earring from the ground.
Earlier, he noticed that the woman wore an earring on her right ear, although the back seemed loose. It must have dropped here in her haste.
Holding the earring between his fingers, Leng Zimo gently caressed the pearl with his fingertip, feeling the dampness against his palm. Unwillingly, images of the woman’s earlobe and her slender neck flashed before his eyes, stirring the desire he had just suppressed.
"Truly damnable," he cursed under his breath in annoyance, threw the earring from his hand, and walked off the lawn. After taking a few steps, he turned back, picked up the earring from the ground, and held it in his hand as he strode out of the lawn and headed down the hill.
With his hand in his pocket, his fingers continued to fiddle with the earring unconsciously.
Luo Xiaoqian hurried down the hill in a panic, and David immediately got out of the car to open the door for her. Once inside, Luo Xiaoqian took a deep breath and said, "Drive, quickly!"
David glanced at his boss in the back seat, who was panting and asked with concern in English, "Are you alright?"
"I’m fine," Luo Xiaoqian pressed her lips together, her complexion having recovered quite a bit, "Let’s go."
"It looks like you’ve lost one of your earrings," David reminded her as he drove.
Earrings?!
Luo Xiaoqian touched her ears, indeed, the left one was there but the right one had disappeared. She started searching frantically in the car seat.
These pearl earrings were a birthday gift from her son last year. She usually didn’t like wearing ornaments, except for the necklace that Leng Zimo gave her; these earrings were what she wore the most.
This morning when she left the house, she remembered clearly that she wore them. How could one be missing?
Unable to find it in the car, she immediately raised her head to ask, "David, were they on my ears when I left just now?"
