Chapter 696 - 700: The Wedding of the Century [7]
Late at night.
The lights still shone brightly inside and outside of the two ancient castles, as two silhouettes climbed up to the fourth floor of the castle by the River, tiptoed into the main bedroom, and approached the bed.
On the pillows, Luo Xiaoqian and Huangfu Ruo were asleep, shoulder to shoulder.
The two men walked over to their respective partners. Qin Lan carefully bent down to kiss Huangfu Ruo’s forehead, while Leng Zimo made sure to tuck Luo Xiaoqian’s uncovered foot gently back under the blanket.
Standing across the bed from each other, the two men made a "let’s get out of here" gesture to one another simultaneously.
Leaving the bedside, they tiptoed out of the room just as they came in.
It was not until they reached the small lounge at the end of the fourth floor staircase that the two men finally stopped walking.
"I’m counting on you tonight," Qin Lan said with a smile.
Leng Zimo returned the smile and then reached out his right hand, "Qin Lan, congratulations."
They shook hands and embraced naturally, and before parting, they playfully punched each other in the chest.
"After the wedding, I’ll be waiting to toast at your celebration," said Qin Lan, glancing in the direction of the master bedroom, "I’m off."
With his hands in his pockets, Leng Zimo replied, "I’ll walk you out."
Descending the stairs, Leng Zimo escorted Qin Lan all the way to the steps outside the door.
"See you tomorrow."
Leng Zimo stopped in his tracks.
Qin Lan waved to him and walked across the lawn, and when he was at a distance, he suddenly jumped up from the ground like a child and then ran towards his own ancient castle like a madman, shouting aloud, "Qin Lan is getting married, Qin Lan is marrying Huangfu Ruo tomorrow..."
Standing on the steps, Leng Zimo watched his receding figure, first with a smile and then with a prolonged silence.
His deep, dark eyes watched as his friend disappeared into the woods, filled with blessings.
He had known Qin Lan for over a decade. They had worked on their first movie together, and through those years of friendship, he understood Qin Lan’s character more than anyone else.
This elegant and outstanding man, who had merely smiled calmly when he won an Oscar, was now indulging himself in such a manner, all for the simple reasons of love and satisfaction.
If this were the old Leng Zimo, such emotions would have been entirely incomprehensible to him.
But now, Leng Zimo understood his feelings.
Love, this seemingly intangible thing, has a powerful force.
It can change many people and many things. It can make someone as strong as Luo Xiaoqian, make someone as crazy as Xu Pei, and can cause others to become lost in it, filled with longing and unable to extricate themselves, like Qin Lan, like Huangfu Ruo, like him!
...
...
The next day in Marseille, the weather was exceptionally good.
Early in the morning, Huangfu Ruo and Luo Xiaoqian were jolted awake by the alarm clock and immediately got dressed and out of bed.
"I’ll go have the maid prepare breakfast," Luo Xiaoqian said as she opened the door, only to find Leng Zimo, already neatly dressed, standing outside with one hand casually in his pocket.
Today he was a groomsman, dressed in a white suit to match Luo Xiaoqian’s dress.
Standing in the hallway with the original ancient castle as a backdrop, the man was so stunningly handsome that even Luo Xiaoqian couldn’t help but be amazed and stand still in shock.
"Why not put on a coat?"
Seeing her thinly clad in house clothes, Leng Zimo frowned slightly; the weather here, although it was only late August, was still somewhat cool in the mornings and evenings.
"It’s okay, I’m not cold," Luo Xiaoqian smiled at him, "You came over so early. How are the preparations on your side?"
