Chapter 520 - 523 The Whereabouts of That Person [9]
Fairy?
Are there really fairies like her?
In the mirror, she looked disheveled and grimy like a beggar.
Turning around, she picked up the clothes Jiao Yang had prepared for her from beside the bed, re-entered the bathroom, locked the door, and began to undress, ready to shower.
Turning on the tap to test the water temperature, her right forearm had a serious wound, and the hot water flowing over it caused a sharp stinging sensation.
She instinctively retracted her arm to inspect the wound and her gaze fell upon the faint scar on her right little finger, leading her thoughts irresistibly back to that person.
She remembered the time she injured her finger and how he burst into the bathroom, wrapping her hand in cling film like a sticky rice dumpling.
There would never be such times again.
No matter how badly she was hurt, that person would never rush over again to carefully wrap up her wounds for her, nor would he announce dominantly that if she let even a drop of water touch the wound, she would be in for it.
All of that was gone forever...
Her heart began to throb with pain as if something inside was being torn apart.
Squatting down, Luo Xiaoqian began to cry silently.
It was only when she heard footsteps outside that she stood up once more, raising the back of her hand to wipe her face.
"Xiao Qian?"
Jiao Yang pushed the door of the guest room open, and upon not seeing her, immediately called out her name with concern.
"I... I’m taking a shower, I’ll come down in a bit."
Her voice came from inside the bathroom.
Hearing the heavy nasal tone in her voice, Jiao Yang sighed silently. Then with a light and cheerful tone, he said, "Two options, braised pork ribs or tomato and egg noodles, which do you choose?"
"I don’t mind either."
"Alright then." Jiao Yang gazed at the bathroom door for a moment, then turned and walked outside, "Don’t make me wait too long; if the noodles are ready and you haven’t come downstairs, I might just burst into the bathroom and drag you out!"
"Okay!"
Luo Xiaoqian responded softly, then stepped under the shower. The hot water streamed over her wound, which was painful, but not as much as the ache in her heart.
She quickly washed her body, changed into the women’s clothing Jiao Yang had prepared for her, and had just opened the door when she heard a loud bang from downstairs.
Startled, Luo Xiaoqian hurried down the stairs.
Reaching the bottom of the stairs and seeing no one in the living room, she noticed a light from one of the rooms and quickly walked over. There, she found Jiao Yang squatting on the floor, picking up the broken eggshells around him, with bits of white and yellow egg all over his head and body. The kitchen hadn’t been spared either; the pan was askew on the stove and the lid had rolled out of the kitchen door. It looked as though a war had taken place.
She picked up the pan lid from the ground, looking worriedly at Jiao Yang.
"Are you hurt?"
Jiao Yang, busy at work, raised his hand to stop her, "You don’t need to come in; I can clean up by myself."
Walking into the kitchen and placing the pan lid on the stove, Luo Xiaoqian grabbed some paper towels and bent down to help him clean up the chaotic mess on the floor. "What happened here?"
Jiao Yang lifted his face and made a silly face at her, "Being able to turn an egg into a bomb, I must be the first, right?"
Luo Xiaoqian was speechless and threw the egg in her hand into the trash before lifting her gaze to see the eggshell dangling from his hair. She reached out to steady his shoulder.
"Don’t move." She carefully removed the eggshell from his hair and withdrew her fingers, "You should go shower. I’ll clean up here."
"My scalp is so itchy. Can you check to see if there’s any eggshell left?"
Jiao Yang sniffed lightly, her hair still damp and hanging in his face, the faint scent tickling his nose. Being so close to her was rare, and he didn’t want this moment to end so quickly.
