Chapter 420 - 423: A World of Two People [6]
"Otherwise, you just drive directly to the restaurant, and I’ll take a cab home," Leng Zimo said.
This time, during the ad shoot in South Korea, the production crew had conflict with the locals over an inappropriate location choice. Even though Leng Zimo himself rushed over, it took a lot of effort to smooth things over. Now he was truly exhausted, and tomorrow morning he had a very important meeting.
All he wanted now was to get home quickly, take a comfortable bath, and get some sleep.
"How could that be okay?" Xu Pei looked at the fatigue on his face through the rearview mirror, "I was just joking earlier. I’ll just drive you home."
As the car entered the airport expressway, Leng Zimo sat in the back seat, closing his eyes to rest.
Xu Pei glanced at him multiple times, hesitating to speak each time.
"Zimo?"
By the time she finally mustered the courage to speak, calling Leng Zimo’s name twice, there was no response.
She raised her eyes to the rearview mirror and saw him leaning against the back of the seat, head tilted to one side, already asleep.
Xu Pei sighed, then smiled slightly without making a sound.
Upon arriving at World City, she drove the car into the parking lot and saw Leng Zimo sleeping peacefully in the back seat. She carefully got out of the car on her side, opened the rear door and reached out her hand, intending to wake him. As her gaze landed on his distinct features, her hand that had been reaching for his shoulder slowly retracted.
Her eyes fell on his tightly pursed lips, and she pressed her own lips together, relaxing her breathing and slowly leaning toward him.
Before her lips could touch Leng Zimo’s, her hair had already slid down, brushing past his neck.
Leng Zimo suddenly woke up, and seeing Xu Pei so close, he instinctively shrank to the side.
"What are you doing?"
"Ah..." Xu Pei had not expected him to wake up at that moment, and she quickly moved her face away in a bit of a panic, "I was trying to wake you up."
Picking up his nose bridge, Leng Zimo stretched his legs and got out of the car, "Sorry, fell asleep. You should hurry home."
Xu Pei smiled lightly, "Aren’t you inviting me to come up for a while?"
"Drive carefully!" Leng Zimo waved his hand toward her and turned to walk toward the elevator.
Watching his retreating figure, Xu Pei called out his name hurriedly, "Zimo!"
Leng Zimo didn’t stop walking, just continuing forward with large strides, waving his hand behind his back, "Goodbye!"
Then he retracted his hand back into his jacket pocket and stepped into the elevator, disappearing from view.
As Xu Pei watched his disappearing back, she bit her lip tightly.
"Leng Zimo, why do you treat me this way, why?!"
Stamping her foot and muttering under her breath, she pulled open the car door and sat back inside; moments later, the black Mercedes roared out of the parking lot.
After the car had driven away, the elevator doors reopened, and Leng Zimo, with a somber expression, walked out from inside, looking at the spot where the Mercedes had been parked. His long brows slowly furrowed.

...
The United States, Los Angeles.
Inside a dance studio surrounded by floor-to-ceiling mirrors.
Luo Xiaoqian, wearing a loose dance outfit, moved her body vivaciously to the music, her ponytail tied at the back whipping around with the motion.
Tucking in her stomach, extending her arms, bending her body...
Every move she made was filled with fluid strength, and as she snapped her head back fiercely, a bead of sweat flew from her forehead, shining like a pearl in the light.
When the song ended, she stopped on cue, right on the beat.
In the corner of the room, the black dance instructor raised two thumbs up with a smile.
"Perfect!" he called out enthusiastically in the broken Chinese he had learned over the past few days from Luo Xiaoqian, "Good, very good, excellent..."
