Chapter 313 - 314: Face-First to the Ground? [4]
"There’s a restroom over there; go change out of your wet clothes first."
A familiar voice rang above her head.
Luo Xiaoqian lifted her face to see Jiao Yang pulling a hardshell jacket out of his backpack, a look of surprise on her face.
"Jiao Yang?"
"What, doesn’t it feel like an angel has descended from heaven?" Jiao Yang teased with an evil grin, shaking out the jacket in his hands.
Luo Xiaoqian pursed her lips, "Did the angel land face-first?"
Jiao Yang was startled, then let out a light chuckle, draping the jacket over her shoulders, he took out a set of sportswear from his bag, "Go ahead and change out of your wet clothes. Although I wouldn’t mind taking the opportunity to admire your figure, for the sake of your health, it’s better to change. There’s a restroom over there."
Luo Xiaoqian lowered her gaze to herself.
From inside to outside, everything was soaked through, the spring garments so thin that even the outline of her underwear was vaguely visible, her face turning bright red in an instant.
"Disgusting!"
She cursed under her breath, snatched the sportswear from his hand, and dashed toward the nearby restroom.
"I was just being honest!"
Jiao Yang shrugged his shoulders, walked over to the nearby pavilion, and brought back her backpack left inside. He casually sat down in the corridor.
Shortly after, Luo Xiaoqian came out of the restroom, dressed in new clothes, he turned his head at the sound.
All he saw was her slender figure in his black sportswear, and due to the cold from the fall into the water, her lips had also turned an extremely pale color. In the black outfit over her lustrous skin, with clear-cut black and white eyes, from head to toe, only the pure colors of black and white seemed to adorn her body — standing amid the verdant tiles and pink walls, she was startlingly captivating.
Looking at the girl before him, Jiao Yang was momentarily spellbound.
"Is my face still not clean?" Luo Xiaoqian touched her face, puzzled.
Jiao Yang came back to his senses, stood up, and naturally reached out to pull the hoodie over her wet hair.
"Thank you!" Luo Xiaoqian’s face flushed, and she busied herself fixing the hood and hair, "By the way, what are you doing here?"
Jiao Yang shrugged, "Don’t worry, I don’t have a habit of stalking people. I came to Shanghai incognito to take a leisurely tour of Suzhou and Hangzhou. Because of the rain, I ended up at Canglang Pavilion, and as it happened, I saw someone jump into the lake."
Luo Xiaoqian rolled her eyes at him, "You’re the one who jumped into the lake. I was saving someone, okay?"
"Oh, so you’re saying I’m a hero saving a hero?" Jiao Yang said with a grin.
He had just arrived near Canglang Pavilion and, hearing a little girl’s screams, ran over; of course, he had also witnessed her saving someone. He came over to help and found out it was her.
"I’m done talking to you, I need to leave." Luo Xiaoqian took out her phone to check the time, "I’ll return the clothes to you later!"
"You can also keep it as a souvenir!" Jiao Yang said with a suggestive smile, "I don’t mind."
"I mind!" Giving him a sidelong glance, Luo Xiaoqian snatched her bag back and straightened up her wet clothes before striding towards the exit.
"Shall I walk you out?" Jiao Yang asked from behind her.
"No need." She waved her hand without turning back, and Luo Xiaoqian quickly walked away.
Jiao Yang lounged lazily on the railing of the corridor, reciting lines from "The Canglang Pavilion" with a nod and a sway.
"For a thousand years by the water’s edge, Canglang Pavilion stands alone; life is as bitter short as it is seemingly long, and my beloved’s hair turns gray..." Watching her figure disappear in the distant corridor, he let out a soft sigh, "Luo Xiaoqian, it seems we truly are fated."
