Chapter 245 - 246: Sea Star [2]
Chapter 245 - 246: Sea Star [2]
It was only May, and the water here couldn’t compare to that of Hainan, still chilly.
"I know!"
Without turning back, Luo Xiaoqian threw over three words and kept running until she reached the waves, where she finally stopped. She let her arms hang, closed her eyes, and took deep breaths of the even stronger sea breeze.
Everyone has special feelings for their hometown, and Luo Xiaoqian was no exception.
This time, accompanying Leng Zimo to pay respects to his mother, she couldn’t help but think of her own father. That’s why she casually mentioned wanting to see the sea. Having grown up by the seaside, she naturally had a deep affection for it.
Standing by the door watching her for a moment, Leng Zimo turned and went back to the garage, took out the items he had prepared from the trunk, and placed them on a small bamboo table by the beach. Then he returned to the house to find the grill and move it outside.
"Look what I found!"
Triumphantly picking up a whole starfish she found on the beach, Luo Xiaoqian immediately held it up high.
Hearing her voice, he looked up and seriously observed the little starfish in her hands.
"Starfish."
"Ha..." Luo Xiaoqian burst into laughter as she turned around, "Of course, I know it’s a starfish."
Seeing the grill already set up by the table, as well as the ingredients, and spotting Leng Zimo, who had taken off his suit jacket and was now wearing gloves, threading food onto the skewers, she smiled embarrassingly and ran over to the table.
"Let me help, too."
"Wash your hands."
Leng Zimo lifted his arm to block her outstretched hand.
"Forgot!"
Luo Xiaoqian stuck out her tongue and walked inside holding the starfish.
"Second room on the left!"
Leng Zimo reminded from outside the door.
She walked over, pushed open the door to the second room on the left, and indeed found the washroom.
Placing the dry starfish on the sink, Luo Xiaoqian carefully washed her hands, and seeing the starfish, she took the opportunity to wash it as well, before heading back out to the beach.
"Thank... no, as a gesture of gratitude for bringing me to see the sea, I’ll give this to you!"
Luo Xiaoqian extended her right hand to Leng Zimo, with the ordinary-looking earthen-yellow starfish quietly lying in her palm.
Leng Zimo put down the skewer he had finished threading, straightened up, and looked at her face with a hint of a mischievous smile. Then, he looked at the starfish in her hand and pointed to the pocket on the left side of his shirt.
"Put it here!"
Such an ordinary thing, especially one picked up from the beach, how could it serve as any kind of gift?
"I was just joking with you!"
Luo Xiaoqian was about to place the starfish on the table, then took disposable gloves out of the box and put them on, before finally picking up the skewer and starting to thread them.
Across from her, Leng Zimo had already taken off one glove and picked up the starfish, placing it in the pocket on the left side of his shirt.
Noticing his actions, Luo Xiaoqian looked up puzzled. But Leng Zimo, who was across from her, had already put the pocket back on and started working. Sticking out her tongue, she also focused on the task at hand.
The two worked together and quickly finished preparing all the ingredients.
While Leng Zimo was lighting the fire, Luo Xiaoqian took out the juice, beer, and other items from the shopping bag one by one.
Spotting a long strip of cloth at the bottom of the bag, Luo Xiaoqian curiously unfolded it, only to find it was a picnic napkin.
"No way, there’s even a picnic napkin. Were you planning to come to the beach all along?"
Leng Zimo clamped the meat onto the grill. "I was actually planning to take you camping. I even prepared a tent."
"Really?" Luo Xiaoqian’s face lit up with surprise. She moved closer to him and looked hopefully into his face, asking tentatively, "So, can we set up the tent later?"
