Chapter 1846: I Owe You 5.20
Chapter 1846: I Owe You 5.20
Inside the hospital room.
Xinger watched as both people left, and she walked up to Luo Jun.
"Are you missing your mom?"
"No, I’m not!"
Having his thoughts guessed, Luo Jun immediately denied, looking displeased.
"Here, this is for you." Xinger lifted her hand, presenting the paper crane folded from his prescription slip to him. "This is a Thousand Paper Crane taught to us by the kindergarten teacher. The teacher said that each crane can grant a wish. Earlier, while folding this crane, I made a wish. Your mom will definitely come back for you!"
Luo Jun pouted, "That’s nonsense!"
"It’s true, believe me!" Xinger cupped the little crane with her hands, offering it to him. "I never lie. I really made a wish."
Furrowing his little brows, and looking at the tiny paper crane in her hands, Luo Jun hesitated for a moment but ultimately extended his little palm to accept the crane.
Seeing him accept the crane, Xinger beamed a rosy smile, delightedly laughing.
Watching her cheerful face, Luo Jun’s expression also softened a bit.
"Wow, what a beautiful paper crane," Xu Xia said as she pushed the door open and came to the bedside. Observing the two kids seemingly enjoying their chat, she immediately praised them exaggeratedly, "Who folded this?"
"It was me." Xinger replied with a smile.
"Xinger, your hands are so skillful." Xu Xia smiled, gently patting her little head, "Thank you so much today."
"You’re welcome."
"Xinger!" The hospital room door was pushed open again, this time by Xinger’s grandfather who entered, nodded at Xu Xia, then smiled at Luo Jun who was now awake. He set down the porridge he brought on the table. "This porridge made by Baihe is good for your lungs; you should feed him some later."
"Thank you, you’re so considerate. I... I, as his godmother, didn’t even think of that..." Xu Xia accepted it with much gratitude, busy saying thank you. "Honestly, thank you both so much, without you, I really can’t imagine..."
"It’s a small effort!" The elderly man gently smiled, resting his hands on Xinger’s shoulders. "Xinger, it’s time for us to go."
"Wait a moment." Luo Jun quickly interjected, "Godmother, did you bring the money?"
"Money... Of course... Oh right, how did I forget!" Xu Xia snapped back to reality, hurriedly taking out a stack of cash from her bag, offering it to Xinger and her grandfather, "The child’s parents are busy and can’t thank you personally. This is just a token of our appreciation... Please don’t misunderstand, it has no other meaning, just a thank you both, consider it as a gift for Xinger!"
"That won’t do, we can’t accept this money." The old man smiled, pushing away her hand. "You take good care of the child, we’re leaving."
"Stop!" Luo Jun urgently cried out, "I promised to repay her a hundred times over. I keep my word."
Xinger hurriedly waved her hand, "I don’t want it."
"No way!" Luo Jun’s tone was firm.
"But, that’s too much." Xinger lifted her face to look at him, "You only ate bread and milk, it doesn’t amount to that much. I don’t have change to give back."
"Then how much is it?" Luo Jun asked.
Xinger thought for a moment, "The bread was two and a half, and the milk was two and seven, making it five point two in total."
"Godmother, give me paper and pen." Luo Jun immediately said.
Xu Xia glanced around puzzled but handed him her everyday notebook and pen from her purse.
Receiving the notebook and pen, Luo Jun carefully wrote an IOU.
"I owe you 5.20..."
