Chapter 1707 - 1711: I’m Very Lucky
I’m very lucky.
"I’m really fine!" Leng Zimo took off his shirt, and Jiao Yang looked worriedly at his back, only to see that the bullet lodged just at the edge of the bulletproof vest, its tip piercing the flesh, with blood oozing from the surface wound. If the bullet had shifted even slightly, it would have penetrated his body. Leng Zimo put his shirt back on, smiled at him, and said, "I’m very lucky!"
Seeing the smile on his face, Jiao Yang suddenly swung a fist, landing it hard on Leng Zimo’s chest. "Why did you take the bullet for me? Didn’t you consider that you might die? If you die, what about Xiao Qian?!"
Even though he had a bulletproof vest on, what about his head? If Luo Ke’s shot had hit his head, he could have died!
Leng Zimo was unprepared and stepped back, collapsing onto the grass. A few of his men rushed over and grabbed Jiao Yang.
"Let him go!" Leng Zimo slowly got up from the ground and stepped forward, parting them to stand before him, his dark eyes seriously looking at him. "Jiao Yang, you don’t need to thank me. This is what Xiao Qian and I owe you. Even if Xiao Qian were here, she would certainly support my decision!"
This man had done so much for him and Luo Xiaoqian, and Leng Zimo could never let Jiao Yang be in danger because of this incident.
Otherwise, not just Luo Xiaoqian, but even he himself would never be at peace for the rest of his life.
Hearing his words, Jiao Yang just stood there, speechless and dazed.
An officer jogged up to him and saluted sharply, "You must be Mr. Leng. I’m Cheang An. We’ve received orders from above to follow your command throughout this mission."
Knowing this was certainly arranged by his father, Leng Zimo nodded. "Take both of them to the hospital. The others should immediately search for the plane wreckage. I must see Luo Ke’s body!"
"Yes!"
Cheang An immediately complied, then turned to issue orders, "Fourth squad, stay behind to take care of the wounded. Everyone else, enter the forest and search for the plane wreckage."
The soldiers quickly rushed into the woods, and Leng Zimo led his men to follow.
"Are you alright?" Seeing Jiao Yang looking unsteady on his feet, Mo Bei hurried over to support his arm.
Jiao Yang watched Leng Zimo disappear into the woods and sighed softly, "I’m fine."
"You two should come with us to the hospital," a soldier approached and kindly suggested.
The matter was finished, and staying there served no purpose, so they boarded the aircraft with the soldier and returned to the city.
By this time, Leng Zimo and the others had swiftly reached the vicinity of the valley where the helicopter had crashed.
In the valley, they quickly found the burning wreckage of the helicopter.
The soldiers rushed in to examine the surrounding grassland, gather airplane fragments and parts as well as other debris around.
"Any bodies found?"
Leng Zimo was slightly out of breath as he ascended the hillside to stand beside Cheang An.
Cheang An shook his head gently, "The entire aircraft has been dismembered. With an explosion like this, I’m afraid no bodies will be found."
"Even if bodies can’t be found, surely some human remains can be discovered, right?" Leng Zimo asked.
"Theoretically, that’s correct, but after being exposed to such high temperatures, the human body carbonizes. Even if we find something, it will be difficult to identify..."
In the distance, a soldier shouted loudly, "I found a body!"
