Chapter 211: Trap
Chapter 211: Trap
"AHHHH!!"
"My ear!"
Watching the red liquid spurt from the man, Jessica Vance’s expression turned ice-cold.
The silver flying blade was a Wind Vortex Dart, propelled by her Wind Element Superpower.
Wendy Marshall and Yvonne Willow also clenched their fists.
"Fourth Master Lynch!"
Celandine Young and the others were stunned by the completely unexpected counterattack.
"How dare you mess with someone from our Crawford Army!"
Celandine Young never expected these people to be so unpredictable.
He saw Fourth Master Lynch about to pick up his severed ear from the ground.
With a snap of Nina Jacobs’s fingers, the ear on the ground burst into flames.
"The Crawford Army? What the hell is that?"
Nina Jacobs slowly retracted the Superpower from her hand.
"So we messed with them. So what? Are we supposed to ask for permission first?"
She knew what trauma haunted Jessica Vance and the others.
Even though they had been acting normal lately, as if they had forgotten that unbearable past...
...it was still a sore spot that no one could touch.
Even if Jessica Vance hadn’t been there, she wouldn’t have let Fourth Master Lynch off the hook.
"Nice shot."
Nina Jacobs praised Jessica Vance.
"Young, you have to stand up for me!"
Fourth Master Lynch wailed as he stared at the ashes on the ground.
He had wanted to find a Healer to reattach his ear, but he never imagined it would be burned to a crisp!
"Fintan, all of you, go!"
Celandine Young hesitated for a moment.
He decided to gauge their strength first.
At Celandine Young’s command, several men charged Jessica Vance at once!
"A bunch of grown men ganging up on a woman. You’re real pieces of work."
Holden Shaw stepped in front of Jessica Vance.
Leo Hale wanted to join in, but Nina Jacobs stopped him.
"He’s enough on his own."
Holden Shaw’s performance over the past few days had earned her approval.
Especially after he received the two "Ring-Headed Knives" from the system.
With her past life’s understanding of the Speed Element Superpower, Holden Shaw’s current strength was not to be underestimated.
"A Speed Element Superpower User wants to play the hero?"
Fintan Lawson, who had a Wood Element Superpower, sneered and conjured a Wood Element Vine.
His companion beside him simultaneously manipulated a series of Earth Spikes.
"This isn’t playing the hero."
He coated his Ring-Headed Knives with his Speed Element Superpower, and the vine was instantly shredded to bits.
And in Holden Shaw’s eyes, the Earth Spikes seemed to be moving in slow motion.
He shattered them one after another.
The other two men also charged at him with knives. Holden Shaw ducked low, and a bright silver arc flashed through the air.
Before anyone could see what happened, the two men who had lunged at him were brought down to the ground.
They clutched their pierced shoulders and screamed in agony.
"Watch out!"
Leo Hale couldn’t help but shout a warning.
Fintan Lawson had seized the opportunity to conjure another vine, and Holden Shaw was about to be cornered against the wall.
The next second, he actually ran backward right up the wall!
He disappeared?!
"Where did he go?"
Fintan Lawson was shocked.
’Can this Speed Element Superpower User fly or something?’
"Right here!"
He never expected Holden Shaw to appear behind him.
Fintan Lawson had just started to dodge when his shoulder was pierced through.
Nina Jacobs could tell that Holden Shaw could have killed these men with a single blow.
But to avoid causing trouble for her, he hadn’t aimed for any vital spots.
"Go to hell!"
Seeing Fintan Lawson and his three companions all wounded and bleeding, a man in the crowd viciously raised a pistol.
BANG!
A bullet shot toward Holden Shaw!
But the next second, Wayne Warner caught it in his palm.
At the same time, a Fireball hurtled in the opposite direction, straight at the gunman.
It was so fast that no one could react.
"AHH!!"
The Fireball had set the man’s entire body ablaze.
Watching his companion instantly become a human torch, Celandine Young hurriedly ordered the nearby Water Element Superpower Users to put out the fire.
"What’s going on? We can’t put this fire out!"
The three Water Element Superpower Users panicked.
No matter how they used their Superpowers, their companion was still burned to a cinder right before their eyes.
"All of you, attack!"
Celandine Young was completely enraged.
Seeing the crowd swarm toward Nina’s group, Arthur, who was in a nearby car, unbuckled his seatbelt:
"I’m going to help."
Celandine Young had already recognized them.
He definitely wouldn’t let them off the hook once he got back.
It was better to help Nina’s group now.
"Fine. We have nothing to lose, anyway."
The three people in the car had been itching to get involved for a while.
But as soon as they got out of the car, they saw that the tide of battle had already turned in an instant.
The Strength Element Superpower User, Celandine Young, had been punched so hard that several of his ribs were broken.
His condition was now unknown.
Two more charred corpses lay on the ground.
Many others were wounded and screaming incessantly.
The remaining men stared in horror, no longer daring to advance.
The smell of blood and the commotion had already attracted zombies.
Seeing zombies appear from both sides, Benedict Shea grabbed the unconscious Celandine Young and yelled, "Run!"
Watching the several vehicles speed away in a cloud of dust, Chase Gallagher asked, "Should we give chase?"
"No need. Someone already went to report back."
Nina Jacobs replied.
The Wind Element Superpower User from before had disappeared at some point. He must have gone to report back.
Silencing them was no longer possible.
"Did I cause trouble?"
Jessica Vance had calmed down.
Just now, Nina Jacobs had killed three of their opponents, and even Leo Hale had killed one.
If they were in City J, they wouldn’t worry at all, but right now they were still within the jurisdiction of the City D shelter.
She was worried she had brought trouble upon Nina Jacobs.
"This trouble was bound to come sooner or later. Let’s kill the zombies first."
Nina Jacobs said.
"You knew all along, didn’t you?"
Leo Hale hesitated for a moment before finally asking.
He was referring to how Daniel Hale had been secretly harmed by Hugo Crawford.
"Yeah, I knew."
That was why she had never intended to show any mercy to the Crawford Army from the very beginning.

After hearing the system’s notification, Nina Jacobs noticed that the group from the car had also started fighting the zombies alongside them.
"Those people from the Crawford Army are experts at twisting the truth,
and they have powerful backing at their base. You should be careful when you go back."
Arthur warned them after everyone had worked together to clear out the zombies that had been drawn in.
"Is this symbol the mark of the Crawford Army?"
Nina Jacobs asked, looking at the blood-red characters spray-painted on the wall.
If you looked closely, it seemed to be the character "Cao."
"That’s right. They’ve marked many of the small shops and stores around here,
Other teams have tried to secretly take the supplies, but for some reason, the Crawford Army always finds out."
"We suspect they’re doing it on purpose."
Arthur said.
"On purpose?" Leo Hale didn’t understand what he meant.
’They’re deliberately leaving supplies for others to take?’
Arthur and his group exchanged a look, seeming a bit hesitant.
"It’s just a guess we’ve had these past few days,"
"Just like what happened now. You had just finished gathering supplies, and they showed up right after."
"It was as if they were waiting for you."
The girl with the ponytail, Isabelle Quinn, was a Space Superpower User.
"Are you saying he’s baiting a trap for us?"
Chase Gallagher understood.
"Exactly. In the past, whenever unsuspecting Superpower Users collected supplies, they would be immediately caught.
The captured Superpower Users not only have to hand over all the supplies they gathered, but they’re also forced to join the Crawford Army.
If they refuse to join, they have to offer up even more supplies to smooth things over. Otherwise, they get a brutal beating."
Isabelle Quinn said, her voice filled with indignation.
Not only that, but even after getting beaten and returning to the shelter or their base, the Crawford Army would still find all sorts of ways to cause trouble for them.
The bullying would even escalate over time.
