Chapter 185: Terrible father
Chapter 185: Terrible father
"Nina—are you hurt?"
Odian and the others crowded around her, looking her over from head to toe.
"I’m fine," Nina said with a small smile.
Only after confirming it for himself did Odian finally relax.
"Nina, what about that old monster?" Sal asked.
"I killed him," Nina replied. "But his body turned into a cloud of black mist and disappeared. I’m not sure if he’s really dead."
"Then he’s probably still alive," Odian said grimly. "Some witchcraft can create identical clones or puppets."
"We’ll have to be more cautious from now on."
Nina nodded. "But I did take his spatial stone." She handed it to him. "There are a lot of things inside I don’t recognize. You can check it later."
Odian examined it with his power. "There’s a lot of witchcraft materials and energy crystals. The rest isn’t very useful for now."
"Take whatever you need," Nina said. "There seems to be some dark energy on them, but I can purify it."
"It’s fine—I can handle the purification," Odian replied. "Leave it to me."
Nina nodded. "Alright, I’ll leave it with you then."
"Later, I’ll distribute the energy crystals to Sal and the others," he added. "It’ll help strengthen them."
He stored the spatial stone away, his thoughts turning heavy.
If that old monster truly wasn’t dead, they needed to grow stronger—fast. And he still had to find a way to break that witch array that suppressed their power.
And Nina’s curse...
He would have to examine her condition in private later.
Nearby, Ming and the others looked on with open admiration.
Nina was incredible—she had actually defeated that ancient monster.
Even if it had only been a clone, someone who had lived that long would surely have accumulated countless treasures.
This outcome... was far from a loss.
Setan, standing to the side, studied Nina with growing curiosity.
This female claimed she had killed a male—a shaman, no less.
Was that even possible?
And yet... she had no reason to lie.
Not to mention, she had even managed to contract a spirit beast.
This little female... was far more interesting than she appeared.
"Nina... is that a Scarlet Flame Beast at your feet?"
Taru suddenly noticed the small creature curled beside her.
"I think so?" Nina glanced down at Roro. "Its name is Roro—my newly contracted spirit beast."
That should be right... she vaguely remembered someone calling it that earlier.
"You contracted a spirit beast?"
Taru and the others stared at her in disbelief.
Her luck was simply outrageous.
Not only had she obtained Yosan’s spatial stone—she had even bonded with a spirit beast.
At their age, none of them had ever managed such a feat.
"Yeah... it just sort of happened," Nina said lightly.
Taru and the others were full of admiration.
To think that she could contract a spirit beast so effortlessly. It was incredible.
"Nina, may I take a closer look at the Scarlet Flame Beast?"
For fire-attributed beastmen like them, a spirit beast that could greatly enhance their power was naturally irresistible.
More importantly, Finch and Didi both possessed fire abilities. With the Scarlet Flame Beast’s support, their future cultivation would become far smoother.
Ming and the others were equally intrigued.
"Of course," Nina said with a smile. "Roro, go let them have a look."
Roro glanced at Taru, then obediently padded over.
Taru and the others gathered around, holding the small beast as they examined it with great curiosity.
At that moment, Drago landed not far from Nina’s group and began walking toward them.
As he drew closer, a faint but unmistakable sense of familiarity stirred within him.
His pupils shrank sharply.
A bloodline resonance chimed in.
His gaze snapped toward Nina’s direction.
Could it be... Nina?
Why would she be here?
Too many beastmen surrounded her—he couldn’t see clearly.
And in his mind, he instinctively dismissed the possibility. There was no way that female at the center—the one surrounded by such powerful males—could be her.
He assumed instead that Nina was somewhere within the crowd.
He hadn’t sensed it earlier from the sky, being too far away.
Picking up his pace, he strode forward.
At the same time, Nina seemed to sense something as well. She turned her gaze in his direction.
That feeling...
Could it be—
Before Drago could get close, he was stopped by Ridan and the others.
"I’m here to see your lord’s female," Drago said calmly.
This time, he didn’t seek out Odian himself. Instead, he intended to approach the female directly—she would be the easiest point of leverage.
He had seen Odian’s contract mark and assumed that female was his mate.
And not just him—even Aviel and the others seemed to care deeply about her.
Winning her over would be far more effective.
Besides, in his eyes, females were narrow-minded and greedy—especially one raised in this backward wilderness.
A few beast crystals, some fine ornaments—and she would surely be easy to win over.
Ridan gave him a brief, indifferent look. "Wait here."
He quickly ran back to Nina.
"Lady Nina, there’s a beastman outside asking to see you."
Odian and Ming immediately guessed who it was.
"Is it him?" Odian asked.
"Yes," Ridan nodded.
"Nina, it’s..."
Odian hesitated. He didn’t even know how to refer to him—he didn’t know Drago’s name.
"Nina, it’s Drago," Ming said directly.
Nina’s eyes turned ice-cold. "I won’t see him. Tell him to get lost."
So it really was him.
It was the first time Ridan and the others had seen such a sharp, frigid expression on her face. Slightly startled, they quickly went to deliver the message.
Odian and Sal each took one of her hands.
"Nina, if you want... we can—"
Their eyes turned deadly in an instant.
Nina shook her head.
There was nothing left between her and her father.
The people she wanted revenge on were Lina and the one who had poisoned her.
Taru and Aviel exchanged puzzled glances.
Nina... and the City Lord of Spirit Stone City... had a history?
When Drago heard Ridan address her as "Lady Nina," his eyes widened.
Lady Nina... my Nina?
Impossible.
How could she possibly be the mate of those powerful males?
Disbelief flooded him, leaving him completely baffled.
But the moment Nina spoke, Drago froze.
His pupils contracted violently as he stood rooted in place.
It was her.
It really was his daughter, Nina.
Drago snapped out of his shock and roared angrily, "Nina Song! I am your father—and you dare refuse to see me?!"
In his memory, Nina had always been timid, obedient—never once defying him. Hearing her speak like that filled him with fury.
His shout struck the crowd like thunder. The surrounding beastmen were stunned.
That male... is Lady Nina’s father?
Then why would he abandon her—leave a lone female in the wilderness? He must be a terrible father.
Taru and the others were equally shaken.
Nina Song... was Drago’s daughter?
Then that meant... she was that Princess Nina.
This is bad...
Their sons were in serious trouble now.
As for Aviel and the others, their faces turned deathly pale.
They stood frozen in place.
